I'm 52 and I can tell you life rarely ever works out the way you think it will. I never imagined my mom would get dementia and pass before my dad, who is 6 years older. I never imagined my dad would outlive not only my mom, but all 5 of his younger siblings. There are other things I could list. I just don't make expectations and I roll with it. Life can still be enjoyable.

Enjoy your time with your Dad; my Dad passed away in May and I can say I miss him horribly but I can also say I have no regrets because I spent as much time as I possibly could over the years. Time and memories I have now to help.

It sounds like you have lots of exciting things planned ahead. I'm sure you are going to have a blast in NY. I'm glad you have a band that will help entertain everyone because sometimes being the bride and groom you spend so much time making sure everyone is happy that you miss the enjoyment of your own wedding. Having a nice spa weekend with close friends sounds like a fantastic hen party to me. Especially if you have it with those little sandwiches and puddings with a little prosecco :) Mani/pedi's, facials, massages, the works. If you can and feel up to it, I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking it would be lovely to see Lia out and about doing a few short vlogs. Nothing that needs a ton of editing. Just like to see you happy xx
Cherish the time with your Dad and all your family as much as possible, Lia. I miss both my parents and other family that has passed on, so this may be in the cards as what's best at this point in time for you. So excited to see what you have going on. It sounds like you are in a really good place, and are enjoying it. Keeping creative is definitely challenging, I struggle with that myself. I think it's because we're taught that creative things are fun, and you shouldn't have fun until the work gets done. When in reality, creating is harder than regular mundane activities. Wishing you calm, peace, and tranquility to get through your busy month.

Wedding planning, btw, is a full time job for six months! I only had 32 guests but the details of wedding prep are ginormous! Living with the two most important men of your life right now is amazing, so happy for you. One day when you get your house I hope it won't be too far away from your dad...but for now cherish every moment. I so wish I could go back to when I got married at 29 when my dad was still alive. I don’t like those type of bachelorette parties either. Your spa day and afternoon tea and trip to Greece sounds like a lovely way to celebrate getting married.
I didn't have my kids till I was 31 & 36 yrs old by MY choice. I got married when I was 27 but I wasn't ready for kids yet. So don't feel rushed! :)
Oh my goodness. Not sure why I didn't get notified but it looks like TH-cam dropped my subscription. Anyway, thank you for these. I love every bit of it, especially the creative and "off script " bits where you're just loose. But all of it is great. So glad you're getting such positive in life right now. One step at a time is more than fine to get where you want. It's be a better foundation and you'll be able to really be present with it all (like good time with your dad). Your wedding sounds perfect. I'm same way, great idea getting a central feature (performance band) to reduce the eyes on you, it will be really great for guests too which will make you happier. Lia, we are watching you age beautifully from a young girl into a mature woman. Classic beauty. You and Ach are very vibrant and youthful. Age is JUST a number! (But ps it does creep up on you at a certain point.-Working out and eating right will hold it off nicely though.). Pick one of your fave hotels to do an overnight girl trip for your bachelorette party! It will be fun and will distress you.

Things rarely work out perfectly. It's good to plan, but you never know of the curveballs life throws you. And really it's a good thing how it's worked out, as you pointed out. And remember, "man plans, God laughs."

Lia, one of the funniest sketches I ever saw of yours was when you were a store manager and a woman wanted to return a top she had just bought. You kept switching to roles, sometimes surreptitiously and then right in front of her. It was hilarious!!

Do you have salt caves in England? They are amazing! So you sit on a gravity chair and they give you a light blanket and just breath in the Himalayan salty air. It’s great for respiratory for your skin for arthritis and some places offer a reflexology while your relaxing. Just idea for you to do with your friends before your wedding 😊

I think we have come full circle. When I was young I couldn't wait to live on my own, and now lots of young people live with their parents. My parents got married right after WWII and lived in a small apartment in my grandmother's house for quite a few years while my father went to law school, and later while he was getting established. A lot of it depends on the economy.
most important is that people THERE at the wedding are close friends and family. not work people, or neighbors (unless they are close friends) please do calm down. YOU have to enjoy "your day". the hen party plans ....yep manicures and a nice dinner. the bridal shower.....I actually went to a joint shower. it was for the bride AND groom. quite unique, and it was fun.
Sometimes old before becoming a parent can be a good thing. Especially if you're still in good health. I was a little bit older than most before becoming a parent and have zero regrets. I did lots of fun things at younger ages that you can't really do when you have children. I wasn't limited on time by needing to get back to my kids. At the time I would have preferred to have had kids younger but since it just didn't happen I decided to enjoy life.

I know how you feel Lia. I love celebrating everyone’s birthdays or special occasions. Yet I never celebrate my own birthday etc….. its because I’m extroverted but hate being the centre of attention. So a surprise party is a no from me ha ha ha.
I'm also too busy to play by guitar! Busy looking at social media and youtube mostly
Nothing wrong with having kids in your 30s! I didn't have my first until I was 31 (just had my second at 35), and my husband was 36 almost 37. Having kids when you're older allows you to be more stable, emotionally & financially. I think it's great that your dad has allowed you to live with him and save money- that's huge! And I can't imagine having 350 people at my wedding. 75 felt huge to me lol.
