    It may not be cheap, but the best home construction material I've seen on the internet is steel structural insulation panels. Very well insulated, as strong as heck, and will not burn.

      The area they are building in Antelope Acres - Salt Flat, TX is UNrestricted! IF they allow mobile homes, they will more than likely allow this. But personally, I would have bought one with vertical siding and boxed eaves. That would put the ridges up and down on the sides and the roof panels would look more like a normal steel roof. HOWEVER, since TX isn't has humid as FL, they probably don't have the same problem with algae and mold that we have here in FL. We have to pressure wash ours. It gets rather icky.

    metal can be good thing but a pain in the rear end to insulate, Condensation is the Killer, vaper barrier, adding metal or wood studs so that you actually have something to secure the interior wall material to, like T&G 1x6 wood or 1/2 inch sheetrock etc... Metal framing thickness and your basic 3& 1/2 inch fiberglass insulation or Styrofoam ? will you need to add a firing strip to make the build out? Running wires ? or will you have to surface mount electric and plumbing ? I find that when I write up an estimate for this kind of structure and finishing out vs the choice of metal stud framing or wood framing and finishing out the price always comes up very much higher, so it is usually wood 2x4 or 2x6 framing and them metal a slite bit more in expense. As far as the metal carport/garage structure for that type of use ( unheated or cooled ) they cant be beat, they are quick to assemble and are very long lasting, and a good investment for a Garage.

      Plenty do. You can buy a pre-cut peel and stick rigid foam insulation kit for the interior and same for outside. Wall panels easily applied. Plumbing and wiring are a challenge but not insurmountable. Buy the high top and insulate the HELL out of the roof/ceiling area and you have a RIGID structure that'll outlast stick framing by decades, at a fraction of the cost. Tie it down well to the earth and nothing short of a wind blown Volvo will destroy it. Fire, rot, rodent and insect resistant it is a SMART move. Maybe not YOUR style, but value? Incomparable.

    • @SandcastleDreams
      @SandcastleDreams 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aesthetically...you'd probably have to get vertical panels and boxed eaves to pass the zoning idiots. PLUS some neighborhoods require a minimum square footage. I've seen some Barndominiums for sale in FL. They look nice. Worst issue is that some counties require that you deal with THEIR approved contractors! • @puttpearson996
      @puttpearson996 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They didn't say the garage cost 10k. they said it shows it could become a house for around 10. The high cost of steel is due to the steel tariffs. When the tariffs went into effect all steel, foreign and domestic went up 25%.

    • @Lilmiket1000
      @Lilmiket1000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea steel definitely doesn't cost that much. I've seen these things that size for sale for about 10k as well. But I think all that cost comes in as some overpricing and overhead for shipping and installation. not to mention a lot of times you have to prepare the spot it's going to be built on yourself. If you just bought the steel for the project I believe it will be around 3k for the kit alone. maybe something for shipping the kit to your house.

    • @SandcastleDreams
      @SandcastleDreams 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Lilmiket1000 They still cost that much! The cost is insulating and putting in stud walls, electrical and plumbing! Not to mention your well and septic!

      Carports, which is what they are putting together can stand up to a category 4 (150 mile per hour winds) It depends upon which gauge you buy.
      We are building a steel home like that only our siding and roof panels will be vertical with boxed eaves or a Gambrel roof..

      My neighbor spent just under $12000 for a 20/50. Two windows. One overhead door. One thirty six inch door. He built in on a concrete slab. He is very happy. We are in Florida. The men were from Mexico. They were fast, precise and thorough.

    Looks like it would serve better as a tool shed than a home.
    What exactly does $10,000 buy you? How much more for a concrete floor, insulation, drywall, plumbing, electrical, interior finishing, etc?? Kinda misleading stating you could build a home for ten grand!
    I won't even get into the legal side of what you are suggesting.....engineering, permitting, etc....

    • @MattsMadnessOfficial
      @MattsMadnessOfficial 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      24x31x12 cheapest I could go $8,000 for the metal building, fiber reinforced 7.5 inch thick concrete $2,000 for the concrete alone I finished it with a few friends , trowel machine 60 bucks wood for forms rebar and metal stakes $500 no.53 rock base $750 many loads whole bunch of work shoveling , permit 63 bucks, that's just what it takes to get a building up with no windows and 1 door... and I'm still waiting on the damn building to show up!

    • @MattsMadnessOfficial
      @MattsMadnessOfficial 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      also I might add thats for the non certified frame and regular roof with the metal that gets put on long ways...the wrong way

    • @integr8er66
      @integr8er66 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well you would be right about 10K but not by much., I built a 20x25 with 10' walls and an 8' lean too, 1 man door 2 windows, closed cell spray foam all over top and walls, concrete floor and paver stone porch, wood stove, proper insulated stainless flew pipe, osb walls inside, 100 amp service, all elec in EMT, for just under 12 K only thing I lack is plumbing (actually I have an outdoor shower, and outhouse) and carpet and maybe dressing up the inside some more. Now as far as legal...Sooo sick of hearing about codes and permits. We have NONE. I live in a freedom loving state and county, so yes you can count on little bitches to complain if you live in a socialist locale, but these make nice low cost homes.

    • @MattsMadnessOfficial
      @MattsMadnessOfficial 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@integr8er66 what did you end up paying for the spray foam just curious ?

    • @integr8er66
      @integr8er66 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MattsMadnessOfficial about 2,000 I think, I sub'd that out, concrete I had done too for 1800, 4" 6 bag mix with rebar and fibers, and piers if I decide to install a 2 post lift, all the rest I did myself, but I do have a track loader and motor grader, so that made the prep much easier. Mine is actually my garage/man cave, but since I sleep in a camper I often think of just making it my house and building another one as a house, 8' wall instead of 10, and no roll up door like the garage has. I have a channel, I have thought about making a video and posting it, ghis topic usually gets people bitching about how it doesn't work etc, so it would be good for hits. Oh if you check out my Austin Healy video yoy will see some of the inside of it.
