I've said this once, and I'll say this again. You are my far one the top Pro FG TH-camrs with the absolute best advice for this game. You don't gatekeep anything at all by putting down others with the typical "you just suck at fighting games, practice more", or from putting your advice through super expensive pay wall. Will be sharing your videos to others .
Bruh...if you're watching Chris and not subscribed what are you doing...!?!? Literally one of if not the best source for SF6 info and leveling up on YT
One thing that might seem obvious is trying to hang where you are looking on screen. Don't look at your own character, jp teleport is so much easier to react to if you see him twirl his cane. And a lot of cues on screen that help people hit confirm like counter hit messages and meter build that appear instantly.
I'm really glad that you took on the mantle of translating more of what the japanese pros say (pugera, nauman, momochi, etc have been on a rampage recently with their videos, not to mention the spat of ryusei's videos on JP [the character] tech and so on). I've stopped TLing for the public but your videos have been consistently great since the beginning and I hope that your content gets even more eyeballs in the future!
Without even using this yet, this sounds like an excellent idea. It’s a constructive approach to watching replays bc now there’s a “why” for those who seek improvement. It forces you to really evaluate yourself in all aspects of the game and I admittedly need something like that trying to improve myself. I’ve been in the SF FGC since this game dropped & it’s good to know there’s many avenues towards improvement that weren’t around in my teens to be a better competitor 👍🏾
One of the best videos from chris and best tips from pugera. Also i realized it not only it works for fighting games but for the vast majority of other things like playing sports or doing homework🎉
unmatched in informative content for the game in quality, consistency, clarity, and practical applicability for players of all characters at nearly every stage. no one else is doing it like you, keep killing it
I watch pros playing street fighter 6 and never subscribe to their channels, but imo you totally deserve me as a subscriber for sure. You are a learning platform and I hope will always do your teaching vids as it's gonna make me improve way faster. I gotta say, the AI practice mode in street fighter 6 is useful, but really isn't the same as playing to real players online. I did improve lots for sure because of the feedback I received, but a video like this means more and more to advance my gameplay!!!! I totally appreciate your hard efforts and time to put such thing together for the fighting community worldwide!
i really appreciate you, i’ve noticed lots of improvement after binging videos. i’m still trying to apply some things, and my reaction time is not great. but i’ve learned from you in 2 hours than most in even longer
I love these types of videos when you translate what the Japanese fgc thinks about this game , Chris the destroyer of the language barrier ! Excellent video! 👏 💪
Funnily enough I've had some interactions with people in different groups be it reddit, discord, fb groups asking about how to improve. And when I ask them what things do they notice in their gameplay that makes them lose, they can't give me an answer. It's just quite funny that people want to "improve" and ask for tips but don't care enough to check their own weaknesses Ive noticed that "self evaluating" isnt something that many people do, when in reality its the most important thing and should be their priority.
It isn't "don't care enough to check their own weaknesses" at all in most cases. They just don't see the weaknesses, because they don't quite understand the proper choices. They lack (what I call) "competitive thinking". And to be fair, for some of these players, I get it, "competitive thinking" is so outside of their regular brain function it's literally like inventing something out of nothing for them. I don't mean this in a sarcastic (or mean) way. I'm just saying that if you have no concept whatsoever about something it's really hard to actually start thinking about it.
@@SlCKNESS_ It could be just stubbornness tbh. I take the time to actually explain everything and even help out on understanding how to read replays as well. Also most of these people have a lot of hours (at least on the people that have asked me for advice) already in the game and have achieved quite a good rank. Which escapes me how they still can't understand what I'm explaining. But I agree you raise a fair point.
Good stuff! I used 801 striders how to use training mode and nearly all of fchamps drills to climb out of the 1300’s to a new PB of 1700 this phase. Took several months but I got there. I have mostly been able to do this, and I can't imagine playing perfectly so it seems like you'd always have some new path. But I do understand when people feel stuck. But this is super super helpful info to keep going with this. Felt good to hit 1700 recently and I don't want to stop. Growing since I started playing has been great, it's rewarding and I've gained confidence elsewhere.

This seems a great idea for players who are really struggling to improve. i.e. you have tried practicing multiple things and still don't see results, so you go rewatch some replays and make a detailed analysis of your strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, if you "just" are in a plateau for a few days, having a break, practicing some defense and oki, and watching some games of a pro with your character might do the trick. I would love to see Capcom implement seeing replays on the browser, I don't know, maybe on Buckler's Camp. That would make more people, including myself, review their matches more often.
As good as an idea that is, I don’t think it’s possible. Replays aren’t recorded videos, the game just saves the inputs and recreates them in game when you watch it
I was struggling against akumas air fireballs recently and used replay takeover and found out if im early enough i can drive rush behind him and hit with EX tensho kicks. Later o😊n had an opponent spamming them and hit it in match, that was rewarding as hell lol.
as soon as i clicked the video i was thinking 'watch your replays lol'. i feel like from there you can see so much whether your dmg is not optimized, your decisions are bad (taking a risk when opp can kill on punish), etc. then i like to either use the in-game search or if im lazy just youtube and look up the specific matchup im analyzing of mine and see how a top Legend player deals with the same problem. the replay search is crazy bc u can find your char vs that specific one. i am still improving but i keep a sheet next to me and after each match i spend 10 seconds and write 'one thing i did good' and 'one thing i did bad'. then at the end if u see the same issue lots of times you have to recognize it bc its staring you in the face literally. also i start or end each session with at least 1 full replay review and take notes on what i learned from the matchup or about my own play ill have to add the chart, great video subbed

@@Chris_F so I just went through the short and that's what I do as well, but in this video at the end of the quarter circle you have an extra input at the end, so if your opponent is jumping from the right you're doing 632143, it's that last 3 input I'm curious about
How you go about giving the score for the values of the graph? Going through the a few replays and count the number of failed attempts for each category?
Serious question, as a noob who can barely do moves setting up recordings is equally hard as doing some B&B's so if that's out of the way, how do you "start"?
This is a great question but very difficult to answer in a TH-cam comment. For now, my best advice is to watch your replays and look for things you could have done better and work on those. Then, spend a good amount of time watching pro player footage with your character and try to copy the things they do
That is interesting and useful, but where does gathering info on your opponent and using it to make reads and adapt fit into this model ? That's in my opinion the hardest part to improve on. There are so many things happening in a single round, it can feel overwhelming to decide on what to concentrate on. One thing happens and the next second your have another problem to deal with.
Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’d consider making reads a “soft” skill that isn’t unique to SF6 as a whole and something that you can’t really “practice” outside of just getting experience. That’s why you see so many pro players able to pick up new titles and perform well quickly
I feel like im far too harsh when it comes to self-criticism to make use of something like this. I might have to ask someone else to fill it out that knows how I play
I feel you, its really easy to beat yourself up when you subconsciously know your flaws. Self-reflection is a skill like any other, and it requires practice like any other skill. Keep an open line of communication with yourself and you can learn to be fair, yet objective with yourself.
I mean I'm already doing all of this minus the excel thing. Sometimes nothing beat raw playtime. The dude that sits around and fiddle with this chart's not gonna beat the dude that sits there and grind 12 hours a day, doesn't matter if he's training optimally or not.
I'm just as interested in how you learned Japanese. Always wanted to learn another language, but as a 41 yo trucker, I feel I only get one shot at this; so it's gotta be on target.
I feel like experience is the main thing if you have played between 100-500 hours and wonder why you struggle in silver and gold ranks ots because you have no play time
Yes I do, but it’s for twitch subs and TH-cam members only. If you sub on twitch send me a whisper and I’ll send you a link; for TH-cam, it’ll show up on your membership page
Love the chart. Fully believe the path to improvement relies on the ability to self-evaluate. Another great video, thanks for the effort

Maybe I’m overthinking this, but I’d consider making reads a “soft” skill that isn’t unique to SF6 as a whole and something that you can’t really “practice” outside of just getting experience. That’s why you see so many pro players able to pick up new titles and perform well quickly
Me, an old man: How did he know I played in the beta?
😂
I feel like im far too harsh when it comes to self-criticism to make use of something like this. I might have to ask someone else to fill it out that knows how I play
I feel you, its really easy to beat yourself up when you subconsciously know your flaws. Self-reflection is a skill like any other, and it requires practice like any other skill. Keep an open line of communication with yourself and you can learn to be fair, yet objective with yourself.
That’s fine too! I think it’s less about being accurate in your self evaluation and more about identifying things to improve, so don’t overthink it
Make a video about hitbox shortcuts. I struggle a lot wiith DP or fireballs while walking forward.
I’ve already made shorts about these
Would counter-poking and whiff-punishment not also fall under footsies?
Sure!
I'm a solid 5 in all categories but I'm still stuck in plat. Thanks
Nice video, however I feel like the entire video can be condensed to “find your own weakness and drill them”
I mean I'm already doing all of this minus the excel thing. Sometimes nothing beat raw playtime. The dude that sits around and fiddle with this chart's not gonna beat the dude that sits there and grind 12 hours a day, doesn't matter if he's training optimally or not.
Hey alright
W
is the chart working for anyone else? it says view only
you can punish light jinrai with 5f. meterless
True, but you can get frametrapped with the followups
@@Chris_F no. 5f is guaranteed, you should lab it
I'm just as interested in how you learned Japanese.
Always wanted to learn another language, but as a 41 yo trucker, I feel I only get one shot at this; so it's gotta be on target.
I’m a former pro musician so my listening skills are maxed. I watched a lot of TV and movies and took a lot of notes and learned that way
Holy shit I need to restart from beginning I can’t do any of those…
Sound its a little low
I'm curious on how you learned Japanese so well.
I’m an ex pro musician and I’m very good at listening and learning
@@Chris_F wow! if we get to listen to your music on your channel that would be awesome!
absolutely cringe title but good video, keep it up
Can you teach me how to beat DJ, i'm MR1700 Treey and DJ is my nightmare 😢
I offer coaching if you need direct help, send me an email
I feel like experience is the main thing if you have played between 100-500 hours and wonder why you struggle in silver and gold ranks ots because you have no play time
I don’t believe time invested = guaranteed results. Lots of people who play a lot stuck in gold
My strongest points are reactions and reads, so according to the chart without those values, i'm dogshit lol
1:02 i like that u r a weeb
So rank myself in SF how they rank stands in JoJo? Nice
I KNOW JAPANESE TOO ARIGATOKUMASAI 😂
I hate this game I'm bad
Just tell me how to improve, but dont tell me to make an essay about it. Fuck this bs. Just play the game lads👍
If you think a 9min translation of a nearly 20min video is an essay then I dunno what to say
Thanks for the content, as always 🫡 ❤
Thank you so very much for the generosity!
