Thank you, that’s so incredibly kind and I really appreciate it! Ro is definitely one of my favourites, it makes me think about how modded Skyrim will look years from now. I hope you enjoy it!
Awesome review!! I'm installing this mod right now. I tried a few others but I think this one is what I'm looking for, amazing look and don't go too far from the Vanila game.
Tried Ro a few days ago. Gorgeous graphics, especially if you want the game to still feel like skyrim but modern. Love how close it feels to vanilla from NPC visual choices to Simonrim gameplay. But definitely one of the most performance heavy lists, if not the most. I have a 4070ti and was getting around 40-60fps if I remember right. Granted that's on a 3440x1400 ultrawide monitor, which is kinda between 1440p and 4K. So at regular 1440p resolution, it would probably fare ok if anyone has the same GPU.
I have the same GPU! I will try this list out for myself and as from what I've experienced so far in most other games, the 4070ti is a 1440p beast! lol
I just did a huge upgrade so this came out right in time. The only thing I'll likely change is some of the settings that make the game dark, I despise all the "realistic" can't see shit experience most people seem to love with modding.
Hot damn, as a fellow 3080 person, I definitely won't feel comfortable running this list. (I like some head room for performance.) But that's fine, it looks gorgeous and incredibly polished, so that's just how it goes. Definitely like that the NPCs aren't beautified as you said; this was something that was super jarring for me when I played a different modlist and I could never get used to it. I must say though, those big trees? I like it. I'm not the kind of person who spends a lot of time searching for points of interest along the horizon, so the downside isn't that big for me. Anyway, 10/10 you can pet dogs, game of the year. Thanks for another informative video!
Yeah the trees really grew on me (no pun intended). At first I thought it was a bit too cluttered but I started enjoying how hidden everything felt in the world
I LOVE the taller trees, it makes Skyrim seem larger in landmass. But I can smell smoke coming from my laptop at the mere thought of downloading these graphics! 😁
Can confirm that as of Jan 2025 this modlist is phenomenal. I run it with Lossless Scaling which gives me a solid 110-120 fps with a 4090 and 5950X with no compromises or have to disable anything in the modlist.
I was thinking of downloading the Vagabond modlist but it was too far from vanilla. I’m glad I found your video. I’m downloading it now. Gonna be on 3840x1600 with a rog strix 4090 so I’m hoping for a smooth playthrough
For anyone using a card with less than 12GB RAM, there are mods that can help, such as the Skyrim Upscaler. It's fairly easy to install and use in any list, but please read the instructions carefully and remember they aren't supported in this list by the mod author. For the record, I had no issues with the DLSS version installed in my list when I was using my RTX 3080 and it gave me a lot more performance.
11:15 Could this be caused by the use of Paraphernalia - VRAMr? What VRAMr settings did you use, quality or performance? PS. I really appreciate your work and your passion for constantly tinkering with this game.
tried Nolvus for the past 4 days, loved it since it was my first mod collection experience. bust i felt it was too bloated with stuff that makes the game lose its vanilla feel. this got me excited
I remember playing this list back when it was fairly new. The graphical changes were relatively lightweight for a modlist. It was basically vanilla plus. Then maybe a year or so later I came back to it and was surprised. It was totally different and my PC couldn’t handle it. Now with a 4080 Super I wanted to give it another shot because I wanted the vanilla plus gameplay combined with that RO look. 1080p and 1440p worked 60FPS constantly without a problem. Idk about 4K. Didnt bother to try cause usually at 4K framerate drops. Some heavy lists like Lorerim, Nolvus and co do not even provide 60FPS at all times in 1080p haha. But thats not due to the GPU being too weak. Its just in cities or when there is too much going on. Even upping the resolution wont lose more frames then. Anyways. While being pleased with the list at first I had to delete it nevertheless. The spiders in this list are just sth else. Ive seen multiple spider mods. But this one is just too much for me. They are too disgusting. I cant play it. I hoped it was just the Bleakfalls Barrow spider but its actually every single one. 😱
I installed the previous version of Skyrim Ro manually getting it running, though the stormcloaks and imperials wear invisible armour, finding no major problems. I have tried manually installing other lists with no success and was pleased this one ran without a hitch. I wasn't so sure about survival mode but stuck with it and getting a hang of it. I think it's a great list, I wish that it included a follower control mod. Perhaps the latest list does.
You must have forgotten that the Skyrim was originally built to run on the Xbox 360 and PS3 when you said "Skyrim optimisation problem". It looked extremely good for 256 MB of VRAM. That said I do not have a problem with high VRAM usage as the textures and models look great. I am currently playing Elysium Remastered at 4K which usually holds 60 FPS - and I see VRAM allocation as high as 18-19GB on my RTX 4090.
I saved up and upgraded my 3070 to a 4070 Ti Super. I still feel like lists like this will explode my computer but it took me a while to save up but i got it, i plan on revisiting Skyrim so I hope my investment works out. It was the whole point of getting a new card. Im playing Fallout 4 for the first time and after I'll be replaying Skyrim since playing it on release. I'm pretty excited. Your videos have been a great help in seeing what is in my future. Hopefully 16vram is enough for future Modlists once i get around to it. Which Modlist would you suggest for my return? You really made me feel something when talking about Living Skyrim.
I am lucky enough to have a 4090 that can run this list smoothly, and it is really good for making you appreciate the small details of Skyrim all over again.
As of March 2024 it's the best graphics stable modlist out there (Eldergleam and LoreRim beat this but are currently unstable). Unfortunately, you'll need at least a 7900xt or 4080 super to run this at 1440p at stable frame rates. Also, the 12GB minimum requirement is BS, you'll need at least 16GB for smooth gameplay, and even then over 90% of it will be eaten up.
This modlist is beautiful and when it runs smoothly, gosh darn! However, as another 3080 owner - yeah the eventual stuttering every 30 or so seconds is a huge pain! Also, the steam 'lossless scaling' app doesnt help either.
trying to find spears or halberds, you mentioned this modlist did include them but IDK which mod includes them so idk how to find them or their recipes :(
@@DroppedIceCreamMods Thanks. I asked because I watched the video you referenced and biggy has a 4090 but gained about 30fps outside of Whiterun. I know Ro isn't pushing 20gb of vram so I was guessing the mod was also repacking the down scaled textures since that's the only way I could see it improving performance on a 4090.
Great video, I tried this list a few weeks ago it ran around the same fps but i wasnt getting the stuttering. I have a 7900xt 20gb and 5900x, Im assuming the only cards that are going to be able to run this list well is going to be a 4090.
Wow, a 5900x with a 7900xt should be able to get 60fps in any modlist. I guess I get why some lists go so hard on graphics but I'd rather run a good looking list at 100fps than a screen archer list at 40fps.
@@Zarkil yeah I'm the same I think the best bang for your buck visual list at the moment has to be Aurora. It sets up great visuals all you need to add in is the gameplay changes.

New comment on a 6 month old video here, but I wanted to ask: is it possible to play this mod with survival mode turned off? I've tried another Modlist recently (LoreRim) and loved the graphical overhaul and most of the animations, but the survival mode just makes it such a chore to play for me.
Playing this on a 3080ti laptop and runs just fine at 1600p. Definitely don't need a 4090 to enjoy this list. At 4k, a 4090 laptop or 4080 desktop would be plenty
unfortunately the mod list is very unstable on my end despite having a computer that's more than enough to run it. game keeps crashing during loading screens
So I started a playthrough with this and it seems like something in the list has broken the thieves guild quest line. Brynholf won't do anything except sell you potions in the marketplace. Unfortunately the mod list is huge, not sure what is breaking it.

I've been trying to download this mod but I keep getting an installation failed notice and then I get a bunch of missing manual downloads. I checked to see if I did the preinstallation correct and it seems I did. Any advice?
I'm currently playing it and it works and so far I only have one issue which is you can't wait with controller for some reason. I have a controller with extra paddles so I just replaced one of them with the keybind to wait but maybe it won't be a big issue for you

dlss and the vramr texture optimiser are both huge on this list if you have an "almost good enough" system like a 3080.
