with a Banshee It's always important to take a look at the wiring harness where it runs near the pipe to make sure there isn't any damage basically on the frame above the kickstarter all the way to back where the CDI unit is near the tail light make sure it hasn't been damaged usually heat or burn if it's in the wrong spot...
I like Rotella as well. Where do you ride in Ontario? We were just up there on vacation get away, Bobcaygeon. it was 6deg C one night. Good job on the vid, covered it pretty well, love 2-strokes. I have an "88 Suzuki LT250R.
probably the next thing to do after that is to remove that big ugly tail-lite, throw it in the nearest dumpster and install an earlier version small oem unit. LOL!!
Gotta 2002 that was already hooked up for a steal of a deal.came with paddles, extra rims/tires, and so many extras (old thumb throttle, stock has tank, stock carbs, etc). Threw some new bead locks, tires, and it looks cherry as phuck
@@1991tommygun Hi tommygun - if I put it up for sale it won't be until the summer. Still not sure if I'm selling but I'll let you know either way come summer (depends if I'm moving or not - i might have to sell it because I might not have room to store it any longer :(
A blaster is just the little brother to the banshee I have a 99 blaster and a 91 banshee and I love them both but if you already have a blaster you should be just fine riding a banshee
Watch for a float valve sticking on one thats been sittin for awhile. You'll know when it happens cuz the carb will start pissing gas out of the overflow while its sitting there not running. It's always a good idea to shut off the fuel valve when your done riding it too, so you don't come back to an empty tank.
Freddy C Yeah, although it's been sitting for a while now.. It may need a bit of TLC to get her back out to the dunes.. Very informative video ! Great job brother !
Freddy C It's been ridden fairly hard ! It probably has 20-25 hours on it (guessing) it's been ridden strictly in the sand.. I just went through a buddies weekend before last.. He had let it sit outside and it had an accumulation of rain water in it.. Anyway after about three hours it fired up 5th or 6th kick.. I may do a top end soon and mill the head slightly.. I would also like a set of T5's or FMFs
Dominator is the best because it’s burns so clean and I know someone but 137 hours on a top end and it still had great compression and you literally could see the piston numbers because it was so clean
I run royal purple for gear oil in mine. and 40:1 with klotz r50. I have aftermarket reeds and exhaust. Carbs are oversized. Cylinders are bored over .20. I find myself fouling plugs alot with the 40:1 ratio but i know its not too much. Anybody know whats up?
TheQuietestMazda3 The place i ride at (Sand Lake, OR) has a ridiculous rule of how loud a bike can be, sometimes a stock TRX450 is to loud. Their excuse for the rule is that it annoys the birds.
is this all you do to maintain it good just change oil and filter just like a 4 stroke? or is there othere things i have to do please reply im trieng to get a banshee but dont know if i would have enough 2 stroke knowledge to maintain it
Hi what's man I am from Toronto well Richmondhill I have an ex400 I was thinking to get banshee I need some opinion just love the 2stroke and I need some riding friend since my friend went to Australia get back at me
Get a Yamaha warrior...they are tanks and will do through anything and they last forever. Honda 250ex, 300ex and 400ex are also great trail quads. I wouldnt suggest getting a banshee for the kinda riding you described.
amsoil intercepter oil is expensive and as additif to clean power valve and there no power valve on the motor spare ur money use amsoil hp formula burn clean and it less expensive
well if there is no smoke at 32:1 there is going to be fuck all at 40:1 i rather more oil then less cause cleaning a flowed plug is easier then rebuilding a engine. take your pick.
Does anyone know how to hook up banshee headlights. When I bought it i followed the headlight wires and it wasnt connected to anything. I really want to get them working.
I'm from Toronto and I had to drive South past Port Huron to buy it - 10 hour round-trip and a LOT of paperwork to import from USA to Canada. It's very hard to find banshee's in good stock shape, so you might have to travel to find one like I did :(
@mrstulsahines hi mate - do you have an owners manual for your banshee? If not, I can link you one - it's best you read that manual front to cover to get an idea of what you'll need. Then you can price out the recommended fluids at your local walmart - because any prices I give you will be local to Toronto Canada and won't be the same you would pay. Let me know about the manual, I'll send you a link if you need it! Cheers!
@dmaheryfz450 I really won't know until I get a chance to go riding with it... sucks living in a city :( Hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance, although I have a dirt bike ride on Saturday.
@Sandeep9201 no - you should use specific foam filter oil. If you don't have any of that, 10w40 will work (that's what they used to use before they invented special foam filter oil)
Yep, you got it - I paid $2800 for it. Where to buy one? Camp craigslist like a bitch and jump on one as fast as you can when one pops up that you like! g'luck!
@D7D4ever you can't go wrong with the yamaha recommended gearbox oil - I will PM you a link to both the owners manual and a workshop manual. The owners manual calls for Yamalube 4 (10W30) - available at your Yamaha dealer!
@dmaheryfz450 thanks for the extra tips! Regarding the ratio - here in Canada everything is measured in Litres and mililitres. Those AMSoil bottles you saw are ALMOST 1 litre exactly, so I usually put half a bottle in my jerry can, then add 16 Litres of fuel (the jerry can holds 20 Litres).
I go by my manual which states - 1.7 L total amount, 1.5L periodic change. It's hard to get ALL the old oil out when you do an oil change, so usually around 1.6L is what I end up putting in.
@snoop6604 I want to see yours in action too! My 250SX's are at my parent's farm and I only get out there once a month, but next time I do I'll be sure to get some helmetcam footage :)
Amsoil Domintator is excellent oil.. I was running it in a bike that had a bad crank seal, it would lean out and seize on me while riding.. 4 times.. It always started back up and kept running. I mixed a jerry can of it at 50:1 to richen the fuel ratio and it stopped sezing.. I rode it that way for awhile after seizing lol Amsoil Dominator is the reason it lived.. That's all I use in all my 2stroke bikes.. I use Rotella T in the gearboxes as well.
use 10w-40 and if it has a radiator or oil cooler take a flat head screw driver and open up all the fins, they easily get smashed together. also check for dirt, last thing you want is your new quad to blow up.
When i went and first looked at my 1987 Banshee He started it up and I decided right there the first thing i was gonna do was exhaust lol Stock was to quiet for me, I got some T5's now and love them. You plan on keeping it pretty stock or modding it out?
Wondering if anyone has any experience with they're stock banshee smoking more out 1 pipe than the other? I hear it's pretty common but would some better opinion. It seems to run fine anyhow
I just bought a 1973 rd350, it has an oil injection pump on it and I can't find any videos about cold starts/10 years ago start. Great video tho, banshee looks like a blast
Rotela T is a great choice. It has a certain chemical in that allows it to heat up faster, and when it reaches a certain temperature, it stays there until the motor is shut off. It also keeps the overall engine temp cool while you ride. Other racing oils like Castrol, Maxima, or AMSOil have it, too, but Rotela is cheaper. Fantastic looking banshee, btw.
gotta love the two stroke. You should have seen the gas in my 84 gsx when I bought it. after sitting for 5 years. not to mention the three nights I spent on the carbs
i own a 1988 banshee and found this advice very good! the only thing i would say is allway check the lockin nuts on the back axle because the some times come lose and also check your carbs to make sure both sliders are opening at the same time!! very important!
Really informative guide. What suggestions would you have for an atv novice going to buy one used? What sorts of things should I look for/ask? Thinking about getting a blaster to play around on.
@TheSixthgearpinned Well, I just got a 98 YZ125, (Check ma vids!) And the guy never re-jetted it for the pipe, so I run at 40:1 and it's too rich, im ganna try like 44:1

Vdubin64 really??

Put a toomy exhaust system on it ;)
mines has t5's on it. she's loud as fuck
TheQuietestMazda3 Same here, except i've actually tried to quiet down but to no avail.
+Kpoole35™ do you not like the loudness or does it piss all your neighbors off?

is that oil wet clutch compatible?
Yes, it is.
Hope so...? Trans oil serves the clutch too.
Is that gear oil you changed?
Yes.

well if there is no smoke at 32:1 there is going to be fuck all at 40:1 i rather more oil then less cause cleaning a flowed plug is easier then rebuilding a engine. take your pick.
So how many oil oz per gas gallon you do? Mix
I mix 32:1 - sorry, I'm Canadian so I know metric not imperial, but 1 oz of oil to 32 oz of fuel (whatever that turns out to be gallon wise)
Does anyone know how to hook up banshee headlights. When I bought it i followed the headlight wires and it wasnt connected to anything. I really want to get them working.
$3000 is cheap man,i run castrol for gear oil, castrol super snowmobile or ipone to mix wit the gas and engine ice coolant and mix at 32/1
before ur first ride tcheck trottle cable and trottle side make sur they dont stick w.o.t and make sur ur carburator are synchronized
i usually check and see if all the bolts are to there proper torque setting, just so i dont go losing and bolts
that banshee is in great shape! Next time you come to Niagara shoot me a message.. It'll be fun to smoke the 4 strokers out on the trail..
the only other thing that i check on my racer 250, is my bolt that holds my kick starter, i 've lost them before, and it sucks
brakes and brake fluid i dont usually flush it unless it is a darker color and also break lines
@xhumeka i will send you a pm of it...i have a 3rd person and a few first person vids of it..
Why rosella? Just curious. I’ve never used it but have been hearing the name a lot lately.
i would have taken the cards apart and take a look at them see if there dirty or any old oil
hi what other oil is good to use in the gearbox, can't seem the find the one you use!
thnx
Yea it really is, but I really don't know you should search online for any other options
yamalube is so expesive...do you know another brand that's cost less but is still good?
I got a 200 Yamaha Blaster what kind of oil do I put in there and what's good
Where did you get ur trailer, i need a cheap one, sorry for all the questions
i check the grease fittings/ joints to see if theirs rock or wear on my ATV'S
Is just like yours the black one what kind of oil is good to put in there
for a 13 year old get a honda recon 250 maybe a 300ex
I use NGK B8ES plugs, but remember - I'm completely stock.
use 4 ounces of Yamalube per 1 gallon of premium gas for your banshee
so how much two stroke mix should be used to a gallon for a banshee?
axel carier bearing wear and upgrad it to twin row bearing carier
what kind of gas do banshees need and what do u mix it with
With stock pipes this sounds a lot like a Yamaha Blaster
When are u planing to sell it I'll buy it
You local to Toronto? Might be for sale this year :(

would it be better to get after market exhaust?
can you use K&N filter oil for a foam filter?
Would a Banshee be too fast for a 13 year-old?
no FMF muffler and if I was you you need to check the axle nuts and the bolts were the chain adjuster is
fireguy 28
Amsoil for the bottom end as well !!

bc that might be why I'm burning through so much fuel
Does reserve burn thru fuel quick, I have it in that and my fuels runs out so fast on my warrior.
I'm not quite sure but if you look on the manual you should be running with the long part facing the Reserve or on or off
and Reserve I normally don't turn on till can't run when it's set to on
Imports and Atvs
Nice bike!
you should use yamalube gear box lube there no antifriction additif in it additif are bad for ur fiction plate in ur clutch it will cause slipage
