I’m surprised the principal didn’t get sued to death. Not only did he not tell the kids, he didn’t tell even the TEACHERS. You know, the people who work for him and are entitled to that knowledge? Kids who were traumatized would undoubtedly tell their parents, many of whom would be positively livid, and even if their lawsuits didn’t go through, some teachers who were unaware of the test drill would charge against the school, which would definitely get the superintendent and school board involved. If enough parents and teachers complain, or do a joint lawsuit, it’s pretty much over. That Principal is lucky to still have his job. The most unrealistic thing about this show is that Clay is the ONLY one whose been dealt psychological trauma by this.

Okay but like why does Zach dying actually make more sense? Like, with the trajectory he was on this season Zach dying makes more sense than Justin dying. Same with Clay! You have two characters spiraling out of control (Clay and Zach) kill one of them and have the other get better for a nice juxtaposition. (Personally, I like Zach more than Clay so he can go) Killing off Justin really only served as grief porn and didn't make sense with the rest of the season
it honestly didn't and this whole show even though I love it has been about yah bad shit happens but it gets better XD but it was a terrible way of showing it I personally think they should have kept Justin alive for one he was pretty much almost everyone's favorite character but he actually showed amazing growth beside his drug problem which I know with some help he would have made it but they just killed him off and basically, the message was oh shit bad stuff happens and if will pretty much never get better. I don't personally believe anyone actually had to die this season and should have focused on Winston (Idk how to spell his name) trying to figure out what happened they just shoved a little too much down our throats with only two episodes.
You’re right. Zach dying does make more sense the more that I think about it. Like Clay, he had been gradually downward spiraling, though in a more subtle, (i might argue) realistic way. He was clearly self-medicating pretty heavily with alcohol, when he wasn’t indifferent he had a quick fuse, his appearance was more disheveled, he wasn’t really showing up to things - in fact he sorta checked out for a lot of this season. Not to mention his overall attitude seemed to be numb and self-destructive, whereas Clay’s emotions were out for everyone to see. Clay was obvious, Hannah was obvious, but Zach was quietly suffering. I think it would’ve been more impactful and made a bigger statement if Zach had hurt himself. No one was paying enough attention to his cries for help. Though he was good at concealing them, the red flags were there nonetheless. I think it would’ve shown that not every person suffering will spell it out like Clay or Hannah. Zach is a good example of how the one you least expect is the most unwell.
Clay literally pulls a gun on a police officer and threatens to shoot up a hospital, on top of pushing away his friends last season _and_ this season. It’s ridiculous that not only does Clay live but he makes it into his dream school. He spirals unbelievably far, and it would’ve been so easy to have him be the end of series death. And the scare of Clay’s death could inspire people around him to carry on the good parts of his memory or something, which sets Zach on the right track. Which _also_ would make Clay a foil to Hannah: Hannah Baker killed herself as a move to manipulate the people she made the tapes about to try and force them to react to her death. If Clay died and his friends were set on a more comfortable path in life it would show just how wrong Hannah was: that if you want to make something of your life and have a legacy with those who knew you, you don’t kill yourself as a strategic plan to try and force them to think about you some way. Which is *also* one of the things that got panned in Season 1 when people complained about the show being toxic. Which means Clay being killed could’ve redeemed the entire show’s writing by undoing the toxicity of Hannah Baker’s actions. But Nah they killed Justin because he was a fan favorite and because even though rapists and school shooters deserve redemption, heroine addicts cannot be redeemed.

Also, if i'm not wrong, it's that your immune system compromised so it's luck of the draw as far as what actually kills you. Not an expert tho.
The fact that he had HIV the whole time between the sex work and it’s progression to AIDS without knowing is so unlikely, paired with the fact that it can commonly take 10-15 years for HIV to weaken you enough for it to progress into AIDS, they used it as an easy way to kill him off with today’s technology and drugs to help slow the progression of HIV there is a small chance of that actually happening without detection
Ive never seen 13 reasons why, and I am so confused why Tony is a part of this show. It always looks like whatever Tony is doing is completely divorced from everything else going on with the main plot. Honestly, I would love to watch a show centered on him exclusively, and forget all of this ridiculous high school drama.
Tony was the one Hannah asked to spread the tapes among the recipients in season 1 before she committed suicide (he had copies that he would give to the police if the tapes weren't passed on if I remember correctly). Just to be clear I don't think he knew she was planning to kill herself, again if I remember correctly. It's been 7 years since I read the book so my memory of it isn't very good.

Look, this show has been bad from even Season 1. The writers have always been reckless and inconsiderate and really don't care unless the controversy gets them views. Hell, I honestly feel like in Season 4 they just decided to throw their scripts into a blender and see what words they could make out (to make it as crazy as possible for people to complain about). They handled suicide and mental health horribly, these kids don't act like real teenagers (the youngest actors are in their early 20's, the oldest for the 'teens' being Monty's actor who's over 30 :3), trying to sympathize the audience with horrible people and so on. It is so much fun to see PMI tear it apart for me though, it's very therapeutic!

I think the writers knew that the controversy 13 Reasons Why was built on was its main selling point. So! They tossed their scripts into a sink, mushed up the papers and looked to see what words they could make out and bam! Fresh story! Frankly, 90% of these characters faced *no* consequences to their actions, and the only consequences were minor and kind of insignificant. Clay's white privellage was really showing in Season 4.

This season alone Clay has defaced school property, has been consistently violent and antagonistic towards staff and students, has initiated riots, swung a gun around, lit a car on fire, escaped a psychiatric ward (with 0 consequences), seen with an unconscious girl at a college, crashed his friend's car by speeding and leaving him there to die... I don't think I need to go on. The best part being: he faced *no* consequences for ANY of this. Then you have Diego who was part one *one* fight with Justin that was short-lived and automatically got racially profiled for it and nearly arrested/shot. If Clay was not white I think it's safe to say he would've been shot, arrested, expelled or at least suspended numerous times.

Fake gun shots and everything, they had teachers banging on the doors and the principle was on the speaker telling us each classroom the 'shooter' was approaching. anyways, some girl who was a type one diabetic fainted and another kid had an asthma attack, aside from a bunch of kids, me included had panic attacks and everyone's parents picked us up right after. Okay but like why does Zach dying actually make more sense? Like, with the trajectory he was on this season Zach dying makes more sense than Justin dying. Same with Clay! You have two characters spiraling out of control (Clay and Zach) kill one of them and have the other get better for a nice juxtaposition. (Personally, I like Zach more than Clay so he can go) Killing off Justin really only served as grief porn and didn't make sense with the rest of the season

it honestly didn't and this whole show even though I love it has been about yah bad shit happens but it gets better XD but it was a terrible way of showing it I personally think they should have kept Justin alive for one he was pretty much almost everyone's favorite character but he actually showed amazing growth beside his drug problem which I know with some help he would have made it but they just killed him off and basically, the message was oh shit bad stuff happens and if will pretty much never get better. I don't personally believe anyone actually had to die this season and should have focused on Winston (Idk how to spell his name) trying to figure out what happened they just shoved a little too much down our throats with only two episodes.
You’re right. Zach dying does make more sense the more that I think about it. Like Clay, he had been gradually downward spiraling, though in a more subtle, (i might argue) realistic way. He was clearly self-medicating pretty heavily with alcohol, when he wasn’t indifferent he had a quick fuse, his appearance was more disheveled, he wasn’t really showing up to things - in fact he sorta checked out for a lot of this season. Not to mention his overall attitude seemed to be numb and self-destructive, whereas Clay’s emotions were out for everyone to see. Clay was obvious, Hannah was obvious, but Zach was quietly suffering. I think it would’ve been more impactful and made a bigger statement if Zach had hurt himself. No one was paying enough attention to his cries for help. Though he was good at concealing them, the red flags were there nonetheless. I think it would’ve shown that not every person suffering will spell it out like Clay or Hannah. Zach is a good example of how the one you least expect is the most unwell.
Clay literally pulls a gun on a police officer and threatens to shoot up a hospital, on top of pushing away his friends last season _and_ this season. It’s ridiculous that not only does Clay live but he makes it into his dream school. He spirals unbelievably far, and it would’ve been so easy to have him be the end of series death.
And the scare of Clay’s death could inspire people around him to carry on the good parts of his memory or something, which sets Zach on the right track. Which _also_ would make Clay a foil to Hannah:
Hannah Baker killed herself as a move to manipulate the people she made the tapes about to try and force them to react to her death. If Clay died and his friends were set on a more comfortable path in life it would show just how wrong Hannah was: that if you want to make something of your life and have a legacy with those who knew you, you don’t kill yourself as a strategic plan to try and force them to think about you some way.
Which is *also* one of the things that got panned in Season 1 when people complained about the show being toxic.
Which means Clay being killed could’ve redeemed the entire show’s writing by undoing the toxicity of Hannah Baker’s actions.
But Nah they killed Justin because he was a fan favorite and because even though rapists and school shooters deserve redemption, heroine addicts cannot be redeemed.

Also, if i'm not wrong, it's that your immune system compromised so it's luck of the draw as far as what actually kills you. Not an expert tho.
The fact that he had HIV the whole time between the sex work and it’s progression to AIDS without knowing is so unlikely, paired with the fact that it can commonly take 10-15 years for HIV to weaken you enough for it to progress into AIDS, they used it as an easy way to kill him off with today’s technology and drugs to help slow the progression of HIV there is a small chance of that actually happening without detection

Ive never seen 13 reasons why, and I am so confused why Tony is a part of this show. It always looks like whatever Tony is doing is completely divorced from everything else going on with the main plot. Honestly, I would love to watch a show centered on him exclusively, and forget all of this ridiculous high school drama.
Tony was the one Hannah asked to spread the tapes among the recipients in season 1 before she committed suicide (he had copies that he would give to the police if the tapes weren't passed on if I remember correctly). Just to be clear I don't think he knew she was planning to kill herself, again if I remember correctly. It's been 7 years since I read the book so my memory of it isn't very good.

Look, this show has been bad from even Season 1. The writers have always been reckless and inconsiderate and really don't care unless the controversy gets them views. Hell, I honestly feel like in Season 4 they just decided to throw their scripts into a blender and see what words they could make out (to make it as crazy as possible for people to complain about).
They handled suicide and mental health horribly, these kids don't act like real teenagers (the youngest actors are in their early 20's, the oldest for the 'teens' being Monty's actor who's over 30 :3), trying to sympathize the audience with horrible people and so on. It is so much fun to see PMI tear it apart for me though, it's very therapeutic!

Out of all the things in this show the most unbelievable thing to me is that any of those kids got into good schools with scholarships or even graduated on time. Your telling me Clay spent his four years dealing with classmates suicides, murders, rapes, school shooting attempts, drug abuse and got into a good school? He’s covered for all his friends and the stress has eaten away at his psyche. When the hell did he have time to do any school work between Hannah and Bryce hallucinations?

Frankly, 90% of these characters faced *no* consequences to their actions, and the only consequences were minor and kind of insignificant. Clay's white privellage was really showing in Season 4.

This season alone Clay has defaced school property, has been consistently violent and antagonistic towards staff and students, has initiated riots, swung a gun around, lit a car on fire, escaped a psychiatric ward (with 0 consequences), seen with an unconscious girl at a college, crashed his friend's car by speeding and leaving him there to die... I don't think I need to go on. The best part being: he faced *no* consequences for ANY of this.
Then you have Diego who was part one *one* fight with Justin that was short-lived and automatically got racially profiled for it and nearly arrested/shot.
If Clay was not white I think it's safe to say he would've been shot, arrested, expelled or at least suspended numerous times.
My middle school had a drill like that, yeah, my MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Fake gun shots and everything, they had teachers banging on the doors and the principle was on the speaker telling us each classroom the 'shooter' was approaching.
