    I think it would’ve been better to use 3 pieces instead; cut them all to be equal in length.

    • @bailey9r
      @bailey9r 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes then you would have only two joints instead of three with the unstable 2" pieces.

    Are those Swisstrax shorts you're wearing? The pattern on your shorts looks like the Swisstrax pattern on the floor!
    It does to me anyway! The more I see you installing Swisstrax flooring, the more I'm thinking about installing it in a new house I'm having built. I'll wait until I move in, to make my final decision. I really like what you did with Ed's garage. I could work in a garage like that.

  • @gjodexter

    You should have centered 1 and cut 2 larger for the sides. You still end up using 3. Looks good anyway.

    When people ask about dirt and Swisstrax, point them to Rad Garage's vids where he shows how he yearly cleans under the flooring and he's a guy who washes INSIDE his garage in harsh Canadian winters.

    I have a piece of advise for you: Get bigger hammer. So you don't have to tap 20+ times at single nail.

  • @p4ult1
    @p4ult1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Anyone else feel the need to paint or colour the silver nail heads black to blend in?
    Throughout the whole video my OCD has been hoping be would paint them 😪😂

  • @jeremylujambio3132
    @jeremylujambio3132 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why didn't you use black nails? Also you are using the wrong hammer for this application and when you're drilling use a smaller drill bit first that will guide the thicker drill bit. These nails are strong enough to go every two feet this looks Overkill

    • @paulfarmer6498
      @paulfarmer6498 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeremy Lujambio It’s all good. He needed to use a larger diameter metal bit first to go through the diamond plate that way the masonry bit had enough room to get through plate to start going through the concrete.
      This is OG over-engineering is the name of the game!

  • @puangpayomjohnson7546

    Matty, can you recommend the best way to add parking stops on top of Swisstrax tiles? I'm looking for a solution that a) won't be too visible color-wise; b) that people won't be inclined to trip over and c) that won't lift up off the concrete after being installed. I saw some nice-looking diamond plate versions sold by HD but they are pricey....about $80 per stop. I don't recall if they came in different colors. I like your Treadware solution for the entrance lips but would like to replicate that same style and color for parking stops. Thanks and great job!

    Watch out if there is direct sun on parts of the flooring. I left plenty of gap around the edges but when the sun shines in the door in just parts of the flooring it buckles very badly. I used racedeck brand but likely an issue with any of these plastic snap together flooring. 2500 for the flooring in my garage and when the sun is out it buckles like shit.

    • @J_yo262
      @J_yo262 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Pust while thats always a risk I will say I so far have ONLY had that issue with RaceDeck which is thinner and “cheaper”. I had that in my last garage and the sun would cause it to expand a ton and bulge everywhere. Not the case with Ribtrax.

  • @Cubanb407
    @Cubanb407 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I backed up my truck and all the tiles buckled some came apart. I wanted to ask do you have like a 2 inch gap between the tiles and the wall all around?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I cut mine right up next to the wall. The only way the would buckle is under some serious speed and braking or aggressive turning.

      @@ObsessedGarage yeah my garage is an L with the driveway so I have to turn in(drive straight down the driveway then make a left into the garage) I drilled some tapcons on the front row and have yet to have an issue. I’ll report if it is a true fix

    Maybe The question should not be posed " What about the dirt "
    It should be what happens when the dirt gets wet and turns hard.
    what about the slush and sand that comes of the car driving in the winter.
    I think it would be great for climates like yours .
    Not so much in the great white north. Unless you have some insight.
    Are those pajama shorts? jk

    I figure that you've probably at least thought about this--because it's you--but have you tried construction adhesive like PL Premium for installing these? In my experience with it, it's the strongest adhesive I could find while renovating my basement, but it still has just enough flex to it so that it shouldn't immediately crack and de-bond if you happened to drive a car over it.

    How much does this slow down the water draining out of your garage when cleaning? And have you pulled out the floor since installing the edging to clean it? Has this made it more difficult? I have Epoxy and I'm starting to not like it as much much and the top coat has started to yellow since new from the sun when the door is open and I'm going to be building a new home and I'm dreading the cleaning underneath. Trying to convince my other half. We clean out garage in the winter months in Illinois with water twice a month.

    Hey Matt, regarding the dirt under the swisstrax. You should make a video pouring dirt/dust on a small area on a floor then vacuuming it up and show everybody how much dirt is left when removing the swisstrax. I know you showed us when moving the lift, but a separate video thats is easier to find for people. Love the videos buddy, cheers!

    what do you do about water that gets under the swisstrax? if a garage isn't graded properly so the water flows out the front, then swisstrax or any garage tile would be a bad idea right?

    Will this be helpful to folks with garage openings that are "trayed"? I laid my tile down, and it seems that the tiles get pushed on as the wheels hit that edge and it caused a few to raise up when parked in the garage. Everything lays back flat when you pull out.
