i actually like that front end. yeah i still dig the normal variant but for some reason i love this concept more
in some ways I feel like this looks more similar to the old z

That front end looks soooooo much better, fixes that awkward mouth and it looks so much more like an old 80's Z. Love it!

I totally love the splited grill of the orange front bumper bumper it really give it the perfect look and fit the back so well i hope they release this front bumper or a version with this look !
The normal one is absolute lovely, but the concept just catches sooo much of the Datsun Z432
The front end of the orange version of the Z is so much better than the others. Splitting that grille did t he trick!
That Proto will come out as a Nismo or facelift model during its mid-life cycle. Bet the house on it.

@@ld9387 No way man, this grill totally fixes the front of the car. That rectangular grill was the only thing I didn't like about this car.
I see a lot of the Datsun era styling and body lines in the new Z. It’s a great looking car hopefully it will perform as good as it looks

I've seen this car about 4 times so far in LA. The blue is to die for, in person it is absolutely stunning and at first I did not like the standard grill but in person actually looks good so I don't have a problem with it.

Yea that orange front end is perfect. They fixed everything with it. I dont hate the original but i think the orange looks much better. Nissan nailed this design. Im a huge mustang fan and feel like the mustangs front end is waaay too over styled so seeing this simplified design gives me hope.

This is just the beginning for this platform, its probably going to be the last Z with this type of engine and trans, even in stock form the front bumper is a beauty imo, there will be tons and tons of parts for this
They definitely fixed that front bumper on the orange. They nailed the orange, it's the exact same mods people would have done (including myself)

I saw this custom Fairlady Z in a news article not that long ago and now that I'm seeing it on video, I am convinced that I like this design more than the standard production car. I know many people like the standard design, but I just can't get over that grill and headlight combination. I've never really gelled with it, personally. I don't think it really invokes the past designs all that well (except for the rear), especially in comparison to this custom Fairlady Z. Frankly, I think this custom design should have been what the car looks like from the factory. It invokes the old designs from previous generations much better, while also creating something rather new and interesting in the process. I could see myself buying a Z with that custom design, which is not really true of the standard production model.

I'm not really aware of how many people dislike the standard design. I know there are quite a few people who do like it, but in what numbers exactly? I don't know. I'm not privy to any of that information.

I've owned two Z's, a 13 touring and presently a 16 Nismo that's modified. The orange Z in my opinion will be the next Nismo.

the body kit one looks so much better, and has the same visual appeal of the Datsun Z, that horizontal split in the grill adds a lot aesthetically
I love the front bumper and fenders on the orange Fairlady Z. Also the body color of that stripe that goes along the roof line is excelent compared to the aluminum line above the door.
On future models, I would love to see that as either an option, or just delete the chrome line and keep it body or roof color.

Dude this is the second video I"ve watched from your channel, and I'm so glad I hit subcribe. I love the deep dive into the details that I wish everyone showing me a car video would do. Keep up the awesome work. No one deep dives into the micro design elements and ties it into the history of the love of designs from either JSM legacy competition brands, or a legacy of a version of this particular car (Nissan Z history). Loving the obsession with design detail. You summed it up right, "its a special car". I really think it will be and at 400 hp I"m leaning heavily towards buying one when its released in Canada. i do love my 10th gen civic si coupe and because its now collectors status, I'm considering keeping it, but 205 vs 400 hp, I might have to just invite a new love into my car life.

this basically fixes the front grill situation
i would love to own the new Z but sadly we have a 150% tax on cars where i live (denmark) so according to the numbers mentioned in the video it would costs me around 96-122k$ which is very expensive. to put it into perspective the average salery after taxes is somewhere around 14.000$ a year then accounting for living costs, it would pretty much take the average person around 15 years if not more to afford a car like this.

Wow, that body kit makes it even better. (I like the production design a lot, too, just needed that bit of silver to break up the big rectangle. ) Also I like the orange, that's about as flashy a color as I'd ever want to go with. (Really I'd want a light blue like my old Z, that just really grew on me while I had it. :) )

This is definitely what the new "Z" should have been in the first place. This design really nails it. This (for me) would be the exact spec and color I would want. Absolutely love the color with the contrasting black. That grille design looks spectacular and much better than the "box" design of the new "Z". This MIGHT be a hint from Nissan at what the probable future "Nismo" version of the new Z might be which would be incredible and they would sell a LOT of them! Increase the performance, use this design. They would certainly have a winner on their hands for sure.

19:26 I bought my 2004 350Z brand new and sold it in 2018 with 230,000 miles following an unsolicited offer to buy it. I was driving a company car at the time otherwise I would still be driving it today. The engine and 6mt were still going strong.

Honestly probably my most favourite design coming out of new school JDM cars, i’ve always loved the Z chassis and is probably undeniably my favourite car lineage. Knowing this car is most probably getting the Q50/Q60 engine pushing around 294kw (400hp) makes it a rwd baby godzilla beast. Also seeing the retro-spec 240z type front bumper with the sleek fender flares has cemented that this will be my dream car, it’ll probably take me 2-3 years of saving up money but if the hype is true - i’m happy to go through that journey.

That orange prototype Z front. Amazing looking car.
7 million yen, for me, I'll still take it. I love the styling of the whole car and it got good modern interior and amenities which I would like in my car. Basically got all the perks that I want from a modern sports car and that Wangan Blue, perfect color.
Really diggin the proto version. Front end looks way better, the wheels look a bit like Watanabes. I finally feel it looks 100 % as I like it. If i come to fullfilling my dream of buying one, that orange bullet is the one to go.

Well this is a Bad Azz Z the lines including the front end harkens back to the original 240z through 280z . My first two cars growing up was a 1976 Datsun 620 truck then purchased a 280z for my fiancée. I dearly loved all three in the early 80s yet the only one I kept until today was my first Love .
