    I might sound a bit pedantic but if Chris has Binge Eating Disorder then why is he being treated like a regular overeater? It's an incredibly valid and not taken seriously enough disorder. An eating disorder that should be thought of in the same line as both Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa. They have a whole segment in the show dedicated to eating disorders but for some reason BED is different? The commonalities between Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder are quite stark, save the compensatory bulimic behaviours, and yet BED is simply disregarded :/

      Couldn’t agree more, it’s as though the show’s producers think the only eating disorders are anorexia and bulimia, apparently BED isn’t a valid eating disorder...

      Well, to be fair, they did have a segment about "over-eating addiction" where they said it's increasingly being recognized in Britain. You have to remember that this episode was aired in 2012, so we've come a long way since then.

      @Linda7647 5 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Ditto. There's ALWAYS room for dessert, no matter how full you really are. I rarely eat dessert. But if something looks and tastes really delicious, I don't care how full I am, I can eat it.
      The thing that baffled me about Chris's comments regarding Nathan being able to eat dessert, despite saying how full he was, is that was coming from the same guy who said he continues eating whether he's full or not; i.e. he eats just to eat. So how he can appear confused at Nathan's "savory full/dessert full" comment was a little bit of a conundrum to me.

      Taking more time to eat allows the food to travel to your stomach and signal your brain that you're full.

    Nick spends a fortune in takeout. A lot of people say that eating healthy is expensive. When I changed my diet I saved a lot of money by just not buying the snack food I used to eat.

    • @acaibowlprincess1142
      @acaibowlprincess1142 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I feel like when they say eating healthy is expensive they are talking about normal portions of fast food compared to normal portions of homecooked healthy meals or even bought salads and poke bowls. Fresh food goes bad quicker, and its easier for people to just go to a drive through and get your meal in 2 minutes instead of buying the ingredients, thinking about the food they will prepare actually cooking the food and making a mess and then finally eating. If you compare the little tasks that comes with both actions, you'll see that one of them (healthy version) is more time consuming and most people dont have that much time. Usually the people that have time are more likely to eat healthier, and as they say rich people have more free time. And they can worry about things other than paying the bills and not getting kicked out of the appartment they're renting. So in a way it is harder for normal to poor people to eat healthy on the regular. But, they might be ways around this. You can get food and make it during the weekend and put it in the freezer, you can stock up on broccoli and put them in the oven for 20 minutes after putting spices on them, but like i said it is a choice most people have to make, and for some people the efforts that come with eating healthy are viewed as difficult, especially seeing how easy it is to just use an app and order takeout, go to a drive through and get your meal almost instantly. Its a complete different story for people who overeat. Fast food is easily digested, fast food chains and crisps companies spend millions to create food that makes you feel the bliss point. (Bliss point is the perfect mix of fat, salt and sugar. And it creates the same effect as drugs.) (Oreos create the same effect morphine has on the brain of mices) not only that feeling makes it almost impossible for us to stop eating, it actually makes our brain stop giving us signals when we're full. It encourages us to overreat. After a few minutes of eating fast food you'll feel full and sometimes sick. But 2 or 3 hours later you'll feel just as hungry if not more than you were before eating that fast food meal. Thus making us overreat. And most of the time when we get that hungry and we eat fast food on the daily. We tend to crave it the most because its easy food that breaks down almost instantly in your stomach. And its an enormous source of sugar fat and salt. Our brains are programmed since before the evolution of humans to love fat concentrated, sugar concentrated and salt concentrated foods which was a hard/impossible find to out ancestors. But with the food cues everywhere in our modern society, with the manipulations of this companies and how unhealthy yet delicious the food is, most of us are doomed to gain weight. For people who want to lose weight they need internal motivation. And the efforts they're doing to lose weight/not binge needs to be viewed as worth it to go through to reach their end goal.
      This is the list of the things that might motivate people:
      -Spending less food on fast food and snacks.
      - Feeling comfortable in their bodies
      Finding nice clothes that fit beautifully
      -To walk around without getting out of breath
      - To be healthy and to live a life worth living
      -to have better skin
      -to sweat less
      - to be comfortable in seats
      -to walk around without getting out of breath
      - to learn how to manage your time (cooking healthy food is time-consuming)
      -to feel comfortable
      => to everyone that is a little overweight to obese: its worth it, all of your hard efforts would be worth it but if you can afford it please talk to nutritionist and dietitian during your weightloss, and a therapist, losing weight is a rollercoster and having support during it will prevent/lessen the chance for you to develop an under eating disorder, and if you're dealing with emotional eating and binging, also talk about that to a therapist, i promise a good mental health professional wont be mean and judge you for that on the contrary; they will help you make healthy habits and built healthy coping mechanisms, and if you cant afford all of these things there is online counceling which is way cheaper and you can find nutrition oriented videos from actual nutritionists. Please make sure your source of information is trust worthy. Have a nice day.

Then we cut out basically everything. No meat, no milk, no eggs, so basically vegan, no sugar as well and no takeaways at all. Well, my acne got a lot better, my dermatologist said it could be because of the hormones in milk and meat that are causing hormonal acne. To be honest, it's hard, I used to drink a lot of milk and it took me months to habituate with it. I still have a little acne though and it's fckn frustrating. I definitely feel your pain. The problem is losing weight isn't hard. Keeping it off isn't hard. These people are using food as a crutch for something much more serious. No one (aside from marathon runners) naturally feels inclined to eat a entire large cheese pizza to satisfy hunger.
    The obesity epidemic is as much a mental health issue as it is a physical one.

      Not quite. The food they are eating is DESIGNED to be highly addictive. It starts in childhood, we feed our children foods with the highly addictive white flour and sugar from breakfast onwards, so we get them hooked, literally. Combine this with the myth that fat causes heart disease and we also make them eat low-fat food, which isn't satisfying. We have to break the addictions and move these people to a LCHF diet. It's very simple, but it certainly isn't easy. Controlling the insulin response is far more important than counting calories. As always, the advice in programs like these leaves a lot to be desired.

    Eating and lazing about is like an addiction. You crave it and your body fights and complains if you work out or try to eat healthy. It's easier to give into the cravings. I went from 8.5 stone to 14 stone in a couple of years. I had quit smoking and my cravings turned to food instead without me realising. I've managed to get down to 11.5 stone now and still losing. Also, still haven't had a cigarette. I still crave the food, but enjoy working out now, 6 days a week. I've never felt so strong!
    I hope my food addiction will finally cave so I can enjoy my fruit and salads as well.

It’s about healing everything that’s lead to the behavior. The root. That’s the beginning of changing the behavior. Unless someone is on the verge of death.
