Gen Z here - this movie is awful. In fact nine times outa ten we typically hate these type of movies. They're certainty not made by people of my generation. Made by much older "how do you do fellow kids" type people I guess?
Thats because its a satire, its poking fun at Gen Z stuff not taking it seriously. Its about how people don't communicate great anymore. Its not meant to be taken seriously. I hated the trailer but once I realized that it made the movie much better. Not without issues but made it much more enjoyable. People seem to be taking it too seriously. And yes it was made by older people, thats the point because they are making jest at Gen Z but I never found it mean spirited.
I love Angryjoeshow and keep up when I can but if you take it too serious, the trailer sucked anyway. I think the creators weren’t aiming for seriousness and it was pretty silly and had its moments

@@RealBlackNoir69 This is some new phenomenon I think. TH-cam and other such media platforms have given rise to online hero worship to an unimaginable magnitude. So many impressionable people will bend their personalities to align with online content creators and forgo personal opinion for what they feel is probably the "right," opinion. How many comments I have read of someone saying they liked the trailer for a movie but won't try it because some online reviewer didn't like it themselves. That is just weird. Everyone has different tastes and if you allow people to dictate what you like then that is not healthy. I don't even watch reviews until after I have seen something I want to see. Not only because I want to go in as blind as possible but also because I don't need anyones opinions coloring my impressions.

As a Dutch guy I was very surprised to hear Halina Reijn (eij is pronounced like in geiser) directed it. She's a fairly well known actress here, I never knew she made the switch to directing let alone a Hollywood movie. She had a small role in Valkyrie, that Tom Cruise movie as well.
As long as you know it’s a teen drama masquerading as a slasher film going into it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s far from a terrible movie, but also feels like a missed opportunity to do more. Like it was begging for a “real threat” to show up. Killer creatures brought on by the hurricane maybe…. Could still do a similar twist where the creatures are revealed to be just hired actors after they murdered a bunch of them.
I liked the movie, but it was def satirical and more of a comedy. So if you watch it as a serious movie, you’re already coming into it wrong. In my mind you’re more just laughing at the characters even while they are playing it serious. Maybe not for everyone, but to me it worked and I was laughing through most the film.
This was exactly my thoughts on this, it is for sure a satire on how we communicate nowadays. I watched Chris Stuckman's review before hand and he mentions this and that greatly helped to think this while watching. I hated the trailer because I thought it was supposed to be all this Gen Z stuff serious but its satirical but not in a mean way to Gen Z. I still had issues with the movie but if you go in with that thought process I think it is much more enjoyable. Though I can't blame people for thinking it was going to be "serious" because the trailer does not make it seem like a satire lol
I completely got what the film was going and felt it worked in that regard. I was very meh with the way the twist was handle (the inciting incident of the whole film with Pete's character) but I totally did enjoy it mainly for the passionate and clearly lively performances from the actresses in the cast.
One of my least favorite horror tropes is when they make the characters unlikable so you don't feel bad when they die. That is so damn stupid, I want to root for characters then feel bad when they die.
Common horror movie mistake (Final destination comes to mind); write a horrible character because viewers will applaude their death. However, rarely is it every character.
I was going to see this movie but the trailer didn't really intrest me. I saw alot of movies this year but there were really no movies this month I was interested in seeing in the movie theaters.

This film checked so many boxes and savaged so many memes, including the hilarious "but you left the group chat??!" These kids never think to call someone directly. And the on-the-chin characters using their cell phones to see and stumble around just illustrates how incoherent some in this culture are. The movie gets much better with reflection.
Super as usual in intolerance for useless plot, social commentary, tool as a narrative! :D So, the trailer - with the two leads - had one saying: "They're not as nihilistic as they look on the internet," Giving clues on superficial personalities who think they're capable of bonding? Your breakdown of it was more enjoyable than its execution.

@@highrepublic3264 That or you know, he actually just liked the movie..?
@@highrepublic3264 i agree thats why i dont watch his reviews anymore
@@highrepublic3264 it's crazy how that works.
This movie looks like hot garbage.
I was surprised at how much I liked it. Imaginative and well acted
Gen Z here - this movie is awful.
In fact nine times outa ten we typically hate these type of movies. They're certainty not made by people of my generation.
Made by much older "how do you do fellow kids" type people I guess?
or just say they're made by Ivory Tower-type Normies.
Alex is like nope.. IM OUT
Im Saving my money for Dragon Ball Super Super Hero Movie that is coming on August 19th
I love Angryjoeshow and keep up when I can but if you take it too serious, the trailer sucked anyway. I think the creators weren’t aiming for seriousness and it was pretty silly and had its moments
I just skipped to the "Spoilers Section", 'cause I knew I wasn't gonna see this shit anyways. I honestly didn't hear about this movie at all until I watched y'alls review. But I thank y'all for sacrificing y'alls time for us viewers.
when you read y'all....drink
Something is wrong with the world when people just take others opinions and don't even bother forming their own. I would feel downright foolish if I watched these guys reviews and just went....yup that's what I think of the movie.
@@Kuzna22 nailed it right on the head I watched the movie before seeing his review and I loved it I don’t understand their opinion or criticism at all I think it was smartly written and funny as hell and the ppl hating without watching just ignore they let joe form their opinions
@@Kuzna22 yes! Even one thing you see can change your opinion even if it’s only alittle I hate the ppl who are like I don’t enjoy this movie but never seen it makes no sense to me like you will just miss out on so many great movies like this one in my opinion! Have you seen it?
With movies like that there is always the option to root for the slasher.
Pete Davidson is in it... I'll skip it thanks.
“I’m being silenced”😂that alone was worth the money.
Man valkyrie was a good movie
As long as you know it’s a teen drama masquerading as a slasher film going into it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s far from a terrible movie, but also feels like a missed opportunity to do more. Like it was begging for a “real threat” to show up. Killer creatures brought on by the hurricane maybe…. Could still do a similar twist where the creatures are revealed to be just hired actors after they murdered a bunch of them.
A24 either makes a fucking banger or a mediocre slog but there made objectively well either way when it comes to production
One of the most unfunny films i've seen in a long time, also the worst A24 film i've ever seen. More like A23 right haha?
“More like A23 haha?” was a joke so bad you had to question it yourself..
I think joe missed the point
I liked the movie, but it was def satirical and more of a comedy. So if you watch it as a serious movie, you’re already coming into it wrong.
In my mind you’re more just laughing at the characters even while they are playing it serious. Maybe not for everyone, but to me it worked and I was laughing through most the film.
yep, you're the type to go outdoors and do Normie social things. exactly who they were aiming for.
I kinda like this new Alex hopefully it’ll stay that way…
One of my least favorite horror tropes is when they make the characters unlikable so you don't feel bad when they die. That is so damn stupid, I want to root for characters then feel bad when they die.
Thats the point. You're supposed to dislike them.
I guess Alex was catching bodies 🔫
I saw this movie my theater only had 7 people in it. Its terrible enough said
@Dawson Ages it said it was released Aug 5th though
DAMMIT! This was the ONE movie I was too hyped to hear Alex's comments on 😂😂😂
Pete Davidson makes me look like a super model, him getting these women is mind boggling.
Prey doesn't get a Theatrical release but sh*t like this does.
@AngryJoeShow you guys should try watching Marcel the Shell with Shoes on. It's another A24 film that is in theaters right now 😄
Common horror movie mistake (Final destination comes to mind); write a horrible character because viewers will applaude their death. However, rarely is it every character.
I thought it was ok, liked it better then the new scream.
Didn’t care much for the movie it was fine. But that reveal at the end got me to laugh out loud
Alex gave the best John Cena impression I’ve ever seen.
If Alex was here he would have destroyed the movie and insulted the shit out of it.
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor now I got that song stuck in my head
Since SummerSlam 2001.
Current RT rating is 91%...
The world is going to end very soon.
Just casually waiting for The Orville season 3 review
@12:50 It's affluent, not effluent.
I was going to see this movie but the trailer didn't really intrest me. I saw alot of movies this year but there were really no movies this month I was interested in seeing in the movie theaters.
Plot twist Alex timed his vacation perfectly to not watch the movie!
Alex's silence screams volumes about how terrible that movie is
look at how many times angry joe and others say annoying characters in their reviews, really says something about movies and shows these days.
Drinking game
We really live in a society
These characters were supposed to be annoying
I thought this movie was really good 8/10
Sadly, most people become Havery Dents.
Lost my interest at "Twitter-speak" and "Annoying characters", this will be a movie that just pisses me off and I will forget about it 5 minutes after watching
GenZ horror something...
Say no more.
This is the type of movie you go watch on tuesdays when tickets are half price or when your membership gives you a free pass
Yeah, I wasn't sold on it from the trailer, but I'm a AAA24 member so they sent me a free ticket. Because of that I thought about going, lol.
Alex made some great points there
This film checked so many boxes and savaged so many memes, including the hilarious "but you left the group chat??!"
These kids never think to call someone directly.
Megan the stallion named the movie
When your generation is so insufferable you can't even take pleasure in watching them die. In the movie.
They\them was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin for Alex but this works too.
you know a movie sucks when the people reviewing it ,say it sounds better on papers lol
When I saw the thumbnail I was like Angry Joe loves Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. OJ would be like nods in disappointed. Alex would be like fuck this movie and leaves.
Sweet, I love minions !
Buuudi....BUDDDIIES !
Heed these words young people :
One day you'll get up, normal day. Except today is a very important day, and they kept it quiet, didn't want to depress you, you know ?
Today is the day you aged-out of the demographic. You are not the target audience, they've voted you out.
Pop culture will seem vapid and f@cking irritating. You will find yourself looking at things on a slant - this is the 'wisdom' you're gaining : a cynical world preying on the gullible and the desperate. Movies made like farts, all stinkers, all profitable. The world will be upside down and you will be the last sane person.
Don't get old, they say it a thousand times, but nobody remembers to heed it.
Can you guys review Day Shift on Netflix? I'd love to hear your opinions.
Its trashy, don't waste your time
