Lisa the way you nurture and beautify your home just stirs my soul. I so admire and look up to you. I am 25 and 6 months out from my wedding and hope to curate a home life as wholesome as yours.
Haha, no it doesn't sound gross about the crumbs on the rug. It sounds a bit more practical with multiple kids👶🏼👶🏻👶🏼💕 We also have a rug under our table. We maintain it, then do a bigger clean every so often. I also feel it can add cozy factor. Love your dress and hope you and the baby are well🌟
Your table reminds me of ours. 30 years ago when we were raising our young family I asked my father to build me a table. The specifications were it must look like it came out of Little House on the Prairie and it must fit six as we had four children. He didn't disappoint. He built for me, a beautiful six foot long pine farmhouse table with hand-turned legs on the lathe with a drawer at each end accented with porcelain Victorian hardware. To this day I love it. It is still the crowning glory of our dining space! I love your idea of a rug underneath it!
Oh my goodness. Loveee the clip where you were doing the plate wall and how your husband helped you get down from the chair. Idk why but my heart melted. Y’all are seriously the cutes ❤️🙏🏻😘
Love this design! When you said that you collect and curate things from antique shops, etc, it got me thinking that often homes with lots of antiques can look dingy, but your space always looks fresh, tidy and uncluttered. Would you consider doing a video about how you achieve that look and don't end up with a bunch of junk, because we all know there's plenty of that at antique stores alongside the gems! It would be great to hear if you have any guidelines you follow, etc :)
I love the updates on your home, it looks so good, glad you are sticking to a vintage theme that really reflects this beautiful farmhouse! The rug under the table is a must for me.
Patience is a wonderful virtue, especially with an older property. Things evolve over time and when you know you’ve got it right, it’s a great feeling. You’ve all done wonders in the last six months ! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
I TOTALLY agree that a rug under a table looks so much better than a blank floor...and that rug is fabulous as is the chandelier and table. You’re creating a beautiful, functional home.
Love it! I don't think I could personally handle a rug under the table but it warms up and frames your space so well! I also have a vintage crystal chandelier in our dining room and we keep it dimmed to the lowest setting even when all the other lights are off since it's so charming.
The rug totally makes sense. If the crumbs are not picked up right away they will travel further and further from the eating area, but I’m sure the rug helps contain that! Now I’m wanting a rug...
I like the use of area rugs not only do they designate areas, they soften sound, muffles footsteps and helps with room echo. They help warm the room, visually and physically. By buffering echoes, they help make a room feel cozy. You find wonderful treasures. And when you first moved there you made a comment that I actually live by. You said you were going to decorate taking your time and slowly building upon style and need. To be that is what makes character in a home. Not everything bought at once and placed. your house is looking more and more beautiful.
So agree in regards to the rug in the kitchen. I initially did it out of necessity to keep the wood floors warm when the polar vortex hit Chicago in January....then I realized that I really love it and it does add a cozy factor that I love! Lis, it all looks great, can't wait to see more!
It is very lovely and practical at the same time. I love the large beautiful wood cabinet for extra storage. I used one in a similar way in a kitchen we cheaply renovated in an 1880 bungalow. I loved that piece so much and it held a ton of needed things. I also had open shelves and bought antique, vintage pretty things to use everyday and display. I love your style.
Like your dining area! Agree with the rug! I've learned to wait out cleaning noodles, rice, etc until they've dried out. Comes right out, easy peasy. If they are still fresh after they meal, they smear and smudge... In the cold weather time I find it cozier to have rugs around the house.
Everything about your house speaks to me. I love how it's not cookie cutter and it's nostalgic to think of where each antique and thrifted item has been, if only they could talk!
Your house and your belly are just coming right along...congratulations to all of you! My 2c is to be careful treating stains on the dining room rug esp with any whitening product. If you overcorrect you might whiten through the old seasoned wornness and patina and then you will have a bright clean spot.
Yes!! Our floor looks so much cleaner with a flat rug! And honestly our kids spill water a good bit and then the floor isn’t all wet. I really love having a dining room rug!
Beautiful! The rug under the table is golden, I’ve had one for 7 years and it is working just fine. You are so on point with breaking up the look of wooden floors and also rugs absorb some of the noise so one doesn’t get that feeling of living in a resonance box.And that chandelier, my goodness, such a nice touch. Keep hanging bunches of herbs and when they’re dry, place them in paper bags and save them for winter time, you’ll just crumple a few leaves in your dishes and get that wonderful flavor. I just love how you’re threading the water in that house of yours.
I have a jute rug under my dinning table, I love it. Yes I vacuum mine after having dinners. Once a month I do roll it up and clean the floors under it. I love your home you are doing a wonderful job in making it feel homey.
I love that you left it all wood. It is beautiful as is. Simple snd functional. Like it all looks clean even if we can't see the crumbs or dust. Love it!!!
Lisa, it looks absolutely lovely. I noticed the carpet immediately and thought it suited the space perfectly. And the chandelier, it just gives the space the cool twist. Looking forward to seeing more.
I agree. Not only does it hide the crumbs, the crumbs don't stick to the bottom of your feet. And a table space isn't "finished" without a rug. Love that one you have!
Love, love, love this dining space!! I’m loving all the stained wood as your house has so much white already. It gives it real depth and makes it look grounded and not so ethereal. The chandelier does give a French vibe and is lovely. Most of the brass chandeliers of that style were actually made in Spain. I have one that was my grandparents, and I’ve taken it to every house I’ve lived in since I got married. Your house looks so loved and cared for, it’s hard to believe you’ve only been there six months!!
I love it all. The rug is so neutral that it could be placed elsewhere if you tire of it. The table is fantastic, especially as is natural. I love the hutch and its placement. I'm so excited to see your home's evolution.
I love the rug! Every space you're completing has a cosy, homely feel and the rugs definitely contribute to it. The chandelier is so pretty and really finishes the space off. I can't believe you've done so much in such a short time and you're pregnant too! You're a bit of a super woman Lisa. Thank you so much for sharing your home and life with us. It's totally inspiring x
You look a bit more rested. Hope you are good dear one. You are a dear momma and you must self care. I am drooling over your flow blue collection. Seriously drooling 🤤. Absolutely gorgeous transformation!
In my Victorian I had every lamp and light fixture on dimmers with control panels in every room. At night my 13 room Queen Anne had lamps or chandeliers on in every room, very dimmly lit. The effect from the street was breath taking.
Loving Your Dining room , absolutely Beautiful furniture dishes, flowers, vases chairs, bench, table. China cabinet, plate wall, Gorgeous Chandelier and Rug . I cant wait to see the full room reveals. You are very practical. Beautiful Home Lisa. Thank you for sharing
It’s Looking cute 👍❤️it ... and yes the chairs look nice the way they are the White paint would’ve made the chairs disappear with the walls..and they go nicely with the wood French doors..ps love the chandelier :)
IT ALL LOOKS SOOO GORGEOUS!! Love it soo much!! As much as everyone is loving the chalk paint look over wood antiques, sometimes the wood tone can look beautiful also! Love that the ceiling, walls and all the trim are white but you left some of the doors and furniture the wood tone. It looks gorgeous 😍 I feel like it also makes it easier to incorporate items into your home so everything isnt so matchy matchy like you said. Its individual and unique ❤️.
Your dining space looks gorgeous, love the rug, and I agree that the rug makes life easier, once a day is going to be more practical against every time someone eats.
Lisa, the eat-in kitchen area is perfect! Love all the touches...those blue place, wow, what a buy! Everything is coming together beautifully. It always gives me such a warm feeling watching your videos. 💕
It's all gorgeous!!! I love the antique rug under that beautiful table, those are my favorite kind of chairs, and the flow blue on the wall, AND the chandelier... Oh, My, Goodness!! Dreamy.
You do such a nice job of creating a space that is functional and beautiful without looking cold, neutral, or cookie-cutter. I totally agree about collecting things over time rather than just buying everything at once from some home store- very refreshing! Very glad I found your channel before we start our own renovations (: Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
I LOVE that house sooo much. You are living my dream. I love that space and can't wait to see the kitchen. The only thing I would do different would be to use platters instead of plates on the wall. They seem out of scale for your huge walls. LOVE that chandelier!
Lisa I love the rug!! Keep the rug...I haven't even finished watching yet..but I had to comment now on that BEAUTIFUL rug under your table!! Ok now I have to get back to watching your video.😘
This looks absolutely fantastic!!! I am loving everything you’ve so far. Love love love. Thanks so much for sharing your journey and even more importantly, emphasizing the value of collecting and curating over time. ❤️
I don't find the rug gross at all. Actually I have been looking for the right rug for my dining room. Lol. Growing up I always loved the braided rug my grandmother had under her table, and found out she has always had a rug, so I want to replicate that. Beautiful dining area. Cannot wait to see the house tour.
I love your style!!!! It is definitely unique and not so big box store. Your eating area fits so well with your house. You are such an inspiration. I must admit, I was a little disappointed when I realized that this video was not your whole kitchen reveal. I’ve been anxiously awaiting that video.
I love it. I don't know if this makes sense but I love that you are decorating it differently than your old house but it's still very "you." The blue and white is beautiful. It's not too fussy. You have great taste.
That space looks so calm and beautiful Lisa! The chandelier reminds me of one my grandmother used to have in her home... (now I want to check if I can somehow get my hands on it 😜). The plates on the wall are so pretty, love the pop of blue. Hope you are well and it was so nice meeting you at Haven. 💕
I’ve always felt nervous to try the rug too... now you’ve got me thinking! The chandelier is absolutely stunning. I love the hitch you found too with those hits of the blue- so lovely.
Lisa, the table and chairs worked out perfectly. Looks so great! The muted colors in the rug really go well with the wood tones and your blue plates. It's funny bc a second before you said the light was on a dimmer switch, I was thinking that I should suggest that to you! We have dimmers for our bedrooms and dining room.
Loving your work and loving the progress! I wish I was younger and I would love to do an old home over. Love how your dress turned out and can't wait to see what you do to the rest of the home. Blessings
Oooh I'm really looking forward to those 6 month and 1 year videos!!! I've been trying really hard to not just live only for the future, but also for the here and now, even though the projects aren't finished yet. It's really inspiring seeing your real-time progress and being reminded that good things take time. ❤️
Like the rug. I have a 5x7 in my living room that has a lighter tan color with red and rust. You would think it would show dirt--doesn't--it hides it. I can clean it with Dawn soap and water.
I LOVE the rug you chose! I don’t think your nuts for doing a rug under the table. We have one under our kitchen table as well. It was thrifted for really cheap so it helps it to feel less precious, if that makes sense. It is grey and white but easy to maintain bc it’s wool and I also have the the little dust buster that you have so a quick clean after meals and we’re good to go! Your place is starting to come Together beautifully. I cannot wait to see the full kitchen.
Lisa the way you nurture and beautify your home just stirs my soul. I so admire and look up to you. I am 25 and 6 months out from my wedding and hope to curate a home life as wholesome as yours.

Lisa, if you pour a bit of boiling water on berry stains, it will take it out immediately. Great on clothes as well!
Wow, great tip! Thank you!
Wow, great tip. I will remember that! Thank you so much!
Stretch the fabric out over a bowl or something and pour from a height(teakettle?) and it works better.
Joanne - thanks for the tip

We had a dog when our 4 kids were young, and I never had to sweep. She cleaned up the crumbs on the floors everyday.
I TOTALLY agree that a rug under a table looks so much better than a blank floor...and that rug is fabulous as is the chandelier and table. You’re creating a beautiful, functional home.
It's so pretty, Lisa! Love the idea of the plate wall with the rack with the herbs. And your videography always has me 😍.
Thank you so much my friend, and congrats on 200k!! 😱😍

Yes! It was a realization for me too, as I was totally hesitant to put a rug under a table.
Not gross at all! Very practical! Love how it came together! So beautiful!

The rug and crumbs idea makes so much sense

You did the right thing. The rug looks great! Also the natural wood on the chairs was a great choice. White painted furniture has seen its day
I absolutely love listening to your thought process and what brings you joy. Thank you for making videos...you always inspire me.
Yes!! Our floor looks so much cleaner with a flat rug! And honestly our kids spill water a good bit and then the floor isn’t all wet. I really love having a dining room rug!
Gorgeous Lisa!! That chandelier does add a touch of French Country to your space. Also the tall cabinet with the basket on top!

Perfect combination of wood, blue, wall color, flowers etc. just gorgeous!
Crumbs on the floor sounds realistic, not gross. Your dining area is absolutely charming. 🌸

I grew up in a house with a rug under the dining room table and I never thought twice about it! I think it’s great!
In my Victorian I had every lamp and light fixture on dimmers with control panels in every room. At night my 13 room Queen Anne had lamps or chandeliers on in every room, very dimmly lit. The effect from the street was breath taking.
It really is a beautiful effect! I am so glad they had them installed!
Should be really gorgeous. Great idea also.
Gorgeous room Lisa! Love how warm and dark the wood table is. The chandelier is a great, delicate contrast!

Yes! Wood tones are always classic.
Your dining space looks gorgeous, love the rug, and I agree that the rug makes life easier, once a day is going to be more practical against every time someone eats.
So inspiring, fresh and happy!!! Thanks for that!
Ugh it’s killing me waiting for the kitchen reveal !! I cannot wait lol, your home is beautiful.
Randi Gibson SAME!
Good decision on leaving the chairs natural. I love the new table in that space. The lights turned out so beautiful.
The rug is just gorgeous......and that dining cabinet is just WOW!
Lisa, the eat-in kitchen area is perfect! Love all the touches...those blue place, wow, what a buy! Everything is coming together beautifully. It always gives me such a warm feeling watching your videos. 💕
I like a rug under the table too! Your eating area looks great!!!!
Looks soooo nice love it !!! I agree that the rug grounds the space crumbs and stains can be cleaned . I love to see a Beautiful who lived in home 🏡
I love your reasons for having a rug!!! 😂I would definitely do the same to save a little work until my regular cleaning.
Love it! I am really enjoying the rooms as you "finish" them and let us have a peek at them.
I can’t even tell you how beautiful this area looks!! Well done!!!! 👍🏻♥️
Thank you so much Donna!
It's all gorgeous!!! I love the antique rug under that beautiful table, those are my favorite kind of chairs, and the flow blue on the wall, AND the chandelier... Oh, My, Goodness!! Dreamy.

Hi Lisa, très chouette, simple et déco, j'adore, merci, Bizzz, Sylvie
You do such a nice job of creating a space that is functional and beautiful without looking cold, neutral, or cookie-cutter. I totally agree about collecting things over time rather than just buying everything at once from some home store- very refreshing! Love the chandelier, love the rug, table and chairs and everything!
I LOVE that house sooo much. You are living my dream. I love that space and can't wait to see the kitchen. The only thing I would do different would be to use platters instead of plates on the wall. They seem out of scale for your huge walls. LOVE that chandelier!
I like it and also your decision to leave the wood. It works nice as contrast with the white walls ❤️
thank you!
Lisa I love the rug!! Keep the rug...I haven't even finished watching yet..but I had to comment now on that BEAUTIFUL rug under your table!! Ok now I have to get back to watching your video.😘
Looks beautiful !
Not too much clutter
Just enough decor!
So tastefully done! Beautiful!
I love the table, chairs and rug.

I love the touches of elegance you are adding in this house! That chandelier and rug are gorgeous and still the space looks simple.
It’s beautiful, great job. And you look like the baby is ready to come🥰 You are absolutely beautiful.
awe thank you!
Beautiful and timeless.
This looks absolutely fantastic!!! I am loving everything you’ve so far. Love love love. Thanks so much for sharing your journey and even more importantly, emphasizing the value of collecting and curating over time. ❤️
awe i'm so glad!
I do the exact same thing with a rug in our kitchen! Brilliant, not gross! 🙌🏻👶🏼👶🏼
I don't find the rug gross at all. Actually I have been looking for the right rug for my dining room. Lol. Growing up I always loved the braided rug my grandmother had under her table, and found out she has always had a rug, so I want to replicate that. Beautiful dining area. Very cute love the table. Your chandelier reminds me of one that I had in one of my houses. The crystals are so pretty when light shines through them.
It just looks so beautiful 😍💓. Love all the little touches you've added. I can't wait to see the 6 month tour showing everything you've done. xx
I love how everything has come together!
I love how you decorated! Loving the blue accents! Oh and the rug!!! I love that design and it looks so cozy!! Way to go dear!! 💙💙💙
Totally agree about the rug!!
I’ve always felt nervous to try the rug too... now you’ve got me thinking! The chandelier is absolutely stunning. I love the hitch you found too with those hits of the blue- so lovely.
Loved the video ! Colors of rug are so beautiful and looks perfect!!.. Chandelier too !! Beautiful!! Thank you Lisa!!
I love it all!! Great job thus far, excited to see the rest.
Just adore this space.
Thanks for the update. I LOVE your plate walls
It’s funny! I love a good rug that can hide the crumbs. I totally get it.
Looking lovely. Cant wait for the before and after. Yout decorating is beautiful.
I love it!! 😍😍You have such beautiful tastes in furniture and crockery and putting it all together so effortlessly.
Loving your work and loving the progress! I wish I was younger and I would love to do an old home over. Love how your dress turned out and can't wait to see what you do to the rest of the home.
Blessings
Love the table! ❤️ Everything! I had that chandelier in my 1970s house. We have dimmers on every light.
Oooh I'm really looking forward to those 6 month and 1 year videos!!! I've been trying really hard to not just live only for the future, but also for the here and now, even though the projects aren't finished yet. It's really inspiring seeing your real-time progress and being reminded that good things take time. ❤️
awe thank you! & YES! good things DO take time
Like the rug. I have a 5x7 in my living room that has a lighter tan color with red and rust. You would think it would show dirt--doesn't--it hides it. I can clean it with Dawn soap and water.
Soooo cute. I'm obsessed with the plates!!
So excited for the tour!!
