@Central_Media3656 Believe it or not, your parents grew up in a world where the CEO would NOT pay himself $40M/yr while employees eeked out life on minimum wage. The employees earned X - CEO earned 3-4 X. Shame was a factor prohibiting anything greater. There is no shame today = why we are where we are in this country.
I bet your CEO is actually less valuable to your company than you think and I absolutely think the two of you should make the same money. Maybe the CEO gets more vacation and stock options. But your whole comment is completely irrelevant to this story. Universities receiving public money are covered by some different laws of equality and access than most companies. We have enough greedy driven corporations, let’s not turn universities into them as well.
@@g.williams2047 title nine needs completely wiped away. you should get what you earn. If your sport brings in zero dollars and cost the university millions you shouldn’t be receiving a dime of revenue share. That’s one of the most idiotic things I’ve ever heard.
I think you misunderstand what the word “proves” means. The last few years has simple proven that college football and the greed surrounding it is ruining collegiate athletics. That is proven in actual public polling, including in SEC country. Title IX exists for a reason, that is so that people (men) who think like you are not in control of university athletics decisions as they would only focus on what would make them money on a personal level. Equality and fairness are actual words and concepts that many people believe in. Especially in publicly funded university programs. But you may be right in that the new bro congress may repeal it as we can’t have laws that protect women on the books…. Scary!
@ you are a confused guy. I enjoy women’s sports and they are great. They do not make the university any money. They should not be getting any NL revenue shares. That’s all. Everything else can remain the same. But NIL doesn’t have anything to do with women’s sports. It’s something that has been created because of FOOTBALL and what it has brought so much money to these universities so that women can have sports.. You are one of those very unappreciative people who don’t understand that football and men’s basketball bring in all of the money to pay for all of these other sports that you enjoy. Very ungrateful of the men’s football men’s basketball team you are. Sad you are.
Ha. I wonder who benefits from that? A bunch of football players who will transfer year after year if they don’t get what they want. No thanks. I’d rather my school demolish the football stadium and focus on the other sports.
LaGuardia has been completely renovated and is now the nicest airport in the country. I try to travel though there as much as possible, Thought I'd add that as a PSA. LOL
Oklahoma has more womens teams (11) then mens (9) But its the Football team that revices all the money to carry the other sports teams The ncaa screwed things up years ago Once athletes didnt get feed on sundays You couldnt give them one extra benefit Now NIL has screwed everything up
Here we go again, forcing colleges to pay a group( women) more than they warrant. It's about equity not equality. The football program uaually pay for women sports as their programs can't generate enough money. Let the market place decide, and keep your fingers off the scales.
The College Football Programmers is very happy about this decision, because now they’ll totally break away from the NCAA and their rules. Title XI is a University & NCAA problem and it isn’t a College Football problem… 💁🏾♂️
As long as college football is associated with colleges, Title IX will be a problem for it. Title IX applies to universities, including their athletic programs. If you don't want it to apply to Huskers football, they have to decouple from the University of Nebraska.
Yes. Simplest solution is for NFL to create a minor league where players who have no interest in college can go there and make 100k a season for 3 years and then maybe be drafted. Return university affiliated football to amateurism where students attend class, earn degrees for free, and get a monthly stipend. Baseball, soccer, golf, and other sports have options for high schoolers to avoid college if they wish, let’s make that real for football.
Hang on. How can Title IX require that a business pay male and female athletes the same? Of how can it even require that business hire both male and female athletes? If I as a business owner want to only hire a football player and pay him $1M for 1 appearance, how can Title IX require that I also hire a female athlete and pay her her the same?
This is about affiliation with a university and payments to students who attend that university and are already paid handsomely - in scholarships. College athletics was never intended to pay students cash directly for playing. The system has been broken by greed. Greedy college presidents, greedy media CEOs, greedy athletes (some), and greedy agents. Let’s return to sanity. College athletes are amateurs and should not be making millions of dollars and holding a college hostage over their “services”. If you are graduating HS and inly care about money, go pro, or get a job at a local business. Save college Sports for those who love it and want to actually attend class, learn, and graduate.
Common response from someone with no actual relevant thoughts. I assure you, the guest is not wrong and I am confident she knows far more than you do in the subject.
Absolutely comical. Why would there be NIL or any type of revenue share for sports that don’t even make money 😂 stupidest thing I’ve ever ever heard. Unless your sport brings in money, you should not be getting a dime.
Because, a university taking any federal funds has to comply with these things called laws. As do companies, non-profits, and individuals. University athletics do not exist to make people money. They existed long before anyone had televisions. The absurd money from networks is insane and is destroying college athletics. Some of us no longer watch or attend football or men’s bball because of that. But we do pay the college for tickets to other sports and donate to help those student athletes who actually attend classes.
@ title 9 needs completely trashed. It needs done away with and gone. Maybe you are one of the few who supports the nonprofit sports. I go to some of them myself. But I give thousands of dollars to the university NIL collective and I want my money going to the football team not the women’s swim team. Respect your opinion though. Just because a school or an organization or a business is federally funded or aided does not mean that NIL money or any revenue share has to be or should be split up. I have several employees and guess what? some get paid way more than the others. You should get what you bring in and you should get what you earn in this life. Everything should be merit-based. Title nine and DEI and all this other crap where people get things that isn’t earned is nonsense and is what is killing this country and many industries right now
@ this will not go through. Universities would go broke doing nonsense like this. Handing revenue shares to sports that never profit one dime and cost the universities 100s of thousands/ millions would totally destroy every athletic department lol
Not surprised by your thoughts given your statements lead to that default of a fake DEI boogeyman used by the uninformed. Bringing up DEI in this context proves that you are not looking at this in a fair way. I can just easily say that people with your views are what is ruining our country right now. Completely opposed views of the world. So that DEI note broke your entire point in my view. Corporate subsidies and an unequal playing field created by the 1% has broken the backs if Americans, not ensuring that racism and sexism do not rule our country. But that side won recently so good luck to us all as the rich get even richer now, not due to DEI but due to our new oligarchs. Thanks for allowing me to have my own opinion though. I really needed your permission. Your company and who you pay how much is completely detached from federal laws regulating publicly funded (in part) colleges. We all know there is a pay equity gap problem as it is obvious that not all men are worth more than all women. Good on ya for donating money and it is fine that you want it to only go to certain teams or people, but if the law said you could not direct it, you would have to chose if you want to at all. It is like taxes. I can’t pay taxes and say to keep my money from buying bombs or giving a corporation a subsidy, but that is not the setup. I just don’t think football players are of higher value by any measure than a swimmer on the women’s team. Even if ESPN is willing to yay an absurd amount of money to air games. But I like lots of sports and don’t live and die on just one or two men’s sports.
Hang on. How can Title IX require that a business pay male and female athletes the same? Of how can it even require that business hire both male and female athletes? If I as a business owner want to only hire a football player and pay him $1M for 1 appearance, how can Title IX require that I also hire a female athlete and pay her her the same?
That is not remotely close to what this decision says. If the school is allocating 5mil to pay athletes to stay and play, 2.5 goes to men’s teams, and 2.5 goes to women’s. The university can decide how to distribute that to athletes on an individual basis. This decision is separate from Joe Smith being paid 100k by a local car dealership to be on a billboard. That can still happen, but this covers distribution of university athletics general funds to athletes.
maybe my salary at my job should be proportionate to the CEO's pay as well. thats how crazy this sounds.

Once again, Title IX proves that it should be repealed.
You're insane

The NBA says that proportionate means the women will need to give money back.
I knew this was coming
Maybe proportionate to revenue brought in per sport?
Ha. I wonder who benefits from that? A bunch of football players who will transfer year after year if they don’t get what they want. No thanks. I’d rather my school demolish the football stadium and focus on the other sports.
