This can't be random, I'm sure the brain doesn't have those memories of the ancient past, but the soul.. I'm convinced this is not random, and you sir played this in another life as a viking.
Have you ever thought about getting paid for creating soundtracks for games. This is fire and I totally see this as a total banger if its put in a fantasy, norse themed action game!
I'm planning on starting to make my own instruments and I think I found a great instrument for my third project. I've made a kind of wind membrane instrument using a plastic tube and a pen cap and I'm currently working on making a banjo from a cookie box and old wood. I think this would make a great instrument so Im gonna do more research
I wish I did. I just started trying things mixed with watching other people play on youtube/ig/facebook and trying to play what they were playing. I had a musical background but hadn't really picked up an instrument in ~15 years before I made the talharpa. There is a sizable (relatively) Facebook group "Tagelharpa (och andra stråkharpor) Talharpa and other bowed harps" where people post videos of themselves playing fairly regularly.
@@HavocHarpa Thank you very much sir! Subscribed to you! between yourself, HavokHarpa & Vyntek, yall have some of the best sounding tagelharpas! I know when I get mine I will not be good at all, but yall are great inspiration to where I can get with it with training! Thank you
I'm curious, is it possible to play this instrument while standing and using a shoulder strap like a guitar? Or does the bow occupying one hand and the other hand pressing on the cords leave the instrument moving around to much as a result of friction/pressure fromt he bow? I have looked around for pictures of people playing similar instruments while standing and haven't found any, so I wondered whether it was just a comfort thing, or if it is impossible/much more difficult to do while standing.
I have not tried it personally but have seen others do it often enough. Camilla Ferrari of Atergolupi does in their videos. As does Bianca Stucker when she plays hers. I play a bit more "aggressively" so not sure how it would work out 🤷♂️
I made this one, there are a lot of them for sale on Etsy but make sure they have a sound sample. I may start selling some soon to fund making more of them (I enjoy it). As for playing, I just sat down and tried to make it sound good, I learn best by doing usually 🤷♂️
@@HavocHarpa Well I definitely recommend you sell some. You've built an awesome one with great sound so I'd trust you more than people on Etsy. I'll subscribe and see if maybe one day you decide to sell. But if not I'd love to just listen to more.
@@wackyman3416 thank you! I have 4 blocks of wood sitting here waiting to get turned in to something but have been getting over meningitis for a month and a half so $$ work has had to take priority over playing and making stuff. Hoping to get back to it ASAP!
I made this one and am using steel viola strings for low c and g and a 1/4 scale cello A string for the high C. All d'addario prelude. I usually tune around C G C
In this video I'm using D'Addario prelude viola strings for the lower 2 (viola c and g string) and a D'Addario prelude 1/4 scale cello A string for the highest.
But a lot of what you can use will depend on your instrument and tuning. If it has a bass bar and sound post steel strings are probably ok, otherwise might be too much tension. Scale length will make a difference too but viola strings are available to fit different sized violas, this has a 16" scale length so I usually use medium or long scale viola strings.
Random jamming? Um, excuse me-this is pure masterpiece!
Thank you

when the random jammin is the best somg youve ever heard (then you cant remember it later)
Happens to me all the time. Thank you!
Sitting here minding my own business and suddenly I’m being chased through the woods on my horse
It's so tragic. This is the music of our time... The last time.
You play with such ease and so dynamically! I've only been playing for 5 months or so but this is next level! Definitely feeling inspired. Subscribed.
Thank you! I still sound awful from time to time myself, I only post the stuff that sounds good!

Wunderbare Arbeit, dass ist das beste Spiel dieses Instruments über das ich bisher gestolpert bin. Great work!
Thank you!
This sounds amazing!!! I love it.
Thank you!
This sounds like something Falconer would play
That's great piece of music.

That was awesome! Looking to build one and learn to play myself, so it's pretty sweet to see more people's takes on just jamming out with them.
Thank you!
So good!

Отлично!

Incredible.
God bless you sir.
Thank you!
Amazing melody. Love the darker tune you're playing here. Reminds me of combat music from Witcher 3 game. What's the tuning you're using?
Thank you. It should be around C G C. I just tune by ear most of the time unless I'm going to try to play with other instruments.
any good source material you recommend for someone first starting out? I purchased one online and curious what resources you use if any!

@@Foxhoundable Just have fun with it :) that's all I focus on. As long as I am a little better today than I was yesterday it was a good day
Absolutely extraordinary! How long have you been playing to master this instrument?
Thank you. I think I had been playing about a year when I made this video. I just played a lot; couple hours a day give or take.

Как называется инструмент?
Talharpa/tagelharpa
Hi! If I may ask, where did you purchase the instrument? It's so nice and I've been looking for placed where to purchase one🙏✨
I made all of the ones I play. I'm hoping to start selling some in July or so.
Gorgeous. I've never seen this instrument played before. Where is it from?
Thank you! I made this one but there are quite a few different makers out there, all with very different sounding instruments.
Its a traditional instrument from scandinavia

hello souds great! what materials do you use for the strings? greetings from argentina
