Such an incredibly gifted man whose soul seemed to exude from the characters he played and the songs he sang. He brought smiles and laughter to me more times than I can count. One of the most truly underrated performers ever. Rest In Peace Jim Nabors. You made the world a brighter, more joyful place.
Thank you for this people will say what they want about him but I knew him as Jimmy he was my second cousin and when my paw paw died he was there and when my granny died he was there for me and my dad he never ever forgot where he came from I found out after he died that when he was on the Andy Griffith show and say shazam or golly he knew my mom and dad would have me in front of the TV rolling laughing R.I.P cuz
Clearly Gomer Pyle would place highest on Mr. Nabor's resume. But his singing of "Back Home in Indiana" was culturally significant, like the playing of "Sweet Home Alabama" before the Iron Bowl.
+HOMAGE great clip you really put it together nicely, Jim was a treasured part of Indy 500 tradition. Thank you for putting this out here and I will share it so others can enjoy as well.

A guy from Alabama, gains his fame in California, becomes an adopted son of Indiana, and dies in Hawaii. Only in America. RIP Jim Nabors.
