Get yourself the printer you really would have wanted with your Amiga if you could have afforded it - the full colour! Star LC10 first colour printer for the Amiga?
They could use the original car but with maybe a upgraded bodykit and interior, and they must to the conversion as part of the movie, and must have David and the original voice actor, was hoping to see Samuel Jackson last week as he was filming in Leeds but missed him, another good episode matey,
I really don't miss the horrid sound of those dot matrix printers. I had an 8-pin MPS-802 for my Commodore 64 in HS, and upgraded to the "Near Letter Quality" Panasonic KXP-1124 for the Amiga when I was in college. Wow were these things loud. I remember leaving the room when I printed out anything. This is one part of retro-computing I don't have a lot of nostalgia for. The can, however, do one thing no other modern printer can do. Banners. Fire up The Print Shop, get our your tractor feed paper, and you can create an 20 foot by 8 1/2 inch banner that says anything you like in giant letters.
6:24 I'm an old "maxoid" having worked at Maxis in the mid to late 90s. I was there for a lot of the early 3D "Sim" games like Sim Golf and Streets of Sim City. That picture looks like it is from Command & Conquer or something similar
I don't have an Amiga printer, but I did find a Atari ST printer for my Atari ST at my local thrift shop for $4. What a find, and made my today. Looked almost new
Justin Beber’s house from a game with Tania in it? Can’t remember the name but the other stuff seems to be a power unit and a barracks (iirc). Ah, yes! Command and Conquer!
As a "Boomer", i didn't grow up with personal computers. I didn't start encountering ones I could dabble in until the early 90's( not enough $$$!). I enjoyed all your videos and you all have great chemistry. Keep up the Fractastic work !)
I love the sound of dot matrix printers, brings back great memories. Does anyone else remember spraying their printer ribbon with WD40 to extra life out of them, or was it just me?
Seeing Deluxe Paint again really brought back some great memories of my Amiga. In fact seeing the famous Tutankhamun picture from Deluxe Paint from the 80s was what made me decide to buy an Amiga, even though I already had an Atari ST at the time.
Well that's added to my 80's nostalgia day, I've just finished watching the whole of season 4 of cobra kai and the throwback to the original movies. So thank you guys it was an awesome episode. Now onto Airwolf.
I also remember visiting KITT as Universal Studios Hollywood as a child. At the time you could talk to it and it would respond, a lot like the Sad Eye Joe at Knott's Berry Farm.
The big new attraction when I visited Universal Studios in 1980 was a Battlestar Galactica ride. The original series. Got my picture taken with a Cylon warrior too. I am old.
Hey, I had an Epson GX80 dot matrix which I used for my studies right through high school and later university on the C64 and C128D. Those printers were indestructible. Nothing brings back the memories of the 8 bit days more than the sound of a dot matrix printer! Unless of course it is the sound of a 1541 formatting a disk! :)
Awwww I adored the dog-outro 😂 ❤️. I wouldn't have guessed lill puppy fractic was the one that loves the attention always felt it was big puppy fractic that held that award hehe 😊. Another awesome recipode 👍❤️.
Magical Retro Show as ever. I love you guys. Such a soothing presentation and a wonderful variety of items. Warm fuzzy nostalgia at its best. More soothing than Horlicks, Ovaltine and warm milk put together. Sending my heartfelt thanks to you all for such great and well produced content. Just what I needed.🥳
I came to today's recipode having watched Dr Mix (another fabulous creator if you are into old synths and music production!) retrieve his beloved Bontempi organ from his childhood from the attic in his parents house... A double dose of nostalgia for me today. Loving it!
Well you guys, Neil at RMC and TJ always stir my retro nostalgia (and cost me money lol). I just had to re-buy my very first printer (for the ZX Spectrum) from Ebay. Retro is the ultimate time machine, reminding us of the new and exciting times when home computers first appeared.
Another fine episode... Wow! You packed a lot of stuff in this one... I thought the kid was so cute opening up the C64 for Christmas what a special moment with great discoveries and more memories to come... That's how we all started out like that kid and what a wonderful way to be introduced to computers. Nostalgia: I got my first "byte" in 1977 when I would ride my bike with my friends to our local Radio Shack, There on display for us to "play" with was the Model I which was a 4K RAM that ran BASIC... Eventually I had to get my own home computer, The summer of 1980 I got my first home computer the VIC-20 and by 1982 my first video game was on the market sold by Video Wizards... When fantasies become reality, what a ride that was!
I had photos of me sitting in KITT in universal studios, but since they were not digital, I don't know that I'll ever see them again, unless I happen to have them in some box in my garage and I get motivated enough to sort through everything in the garage.
When it comes to printers . My childhood memory is an original Stylewriter for a mac classic. I can still to this day remember the exact sounds it made when powering on, printing and when the print was done and it stopped working. :)
I had a StyleWriter II with my Performa 475. The monitor disappeared in a move, and I don't remember what happened to the printer, but I have acquired replacements for both so I still have my first computer setup (except for the computer having had parts replaced and been upgraded with more RAM and an SCSI2SD). Not actually set up at the moment - the printer is in the attic, and I'm in the process of replacing the capacitors on the motherboard - but it will have a "permanent" place when it's all working nicely and I have the space.
The ЯRetro Show is always one of my favorite moment in the week-end :) I can relate to this kid receiving a C64, as my best memory is when I had my Amiga 500... Back in the days it was something from the future :)
I recently purchased a Citizen 120D+ dot matrix printer. Best purchase I've made this year so far. Can print now on my Amiga or any of my old PCs. Ironically I never had a dot matrix printer as a kid. Our Amiga printer was a Canon BJC bubblejet. Not sure the specific model Edit: the BJC-4100 looks like it
I remember K.I.T.T. coming to New Zealand in '85 when I was 16 (Yes, I'm that old). Totally amazing, although I do remember the demonstrator guy being grumpy with the kids.
I had two printers for my Amiga back in the day. A Panasonic KXP-1080i, which I left behind for my roommates to use when I left college early for money reasons. But they were mad that I left early, so they left my printer when they finished. Of course, still having money problems, I couldn't afford to drive up and get it. That was a great little printer. I laugh now because things have worked out well since then. I next (when I could afford it) got a Star NX2410 Rainbow printer... Which I believe is still in the garage... ;-)
Happy Anniversary! Can't believe its been 10 Years already! Thanks for the great content! My Retro Computer and Console collection is steadily growing and the blame is partially on you! :D
I saw what LadyFractic memed. She was trying so hard to hold her composure when the dog's nose was being pushed around like a joystick and the googly eyes were going around in circles. And of course we can't wait to see her lose it! Because we're all rofl already. Well played, LF!
The pixelized Bieber house was pasted onto a field from one of the "Command & Conquer" games... I want to say "Red Alert 2," but it's been a while since I played any of them.
Them dad jokes are flowing in this one and i am here for it haha. The sound of the printer took me right back to the good old days, me and some friends use to print out cheat codes and walkthroughs and that way we could keep the mags in one piece keep. Can not wait for Ladyfractic's video to come and how cute was puppyfractic the 2nd oh and ofc the 3rd. Great show as always guys and am looking forward to your next video, so until then take care and have a great rest of the weekend.
Why the Commodore 64 is more fun than any ol' PC any day: The 64 has the blue screen of life, not a blue screen of death. Congrats on 10 episodes. Don't worry, though. In a mere 9 years and 2 months (or is that 9 months and 2 weeks? 9 weeks and 2 days?), we'll be celebrating 10 years of The Retro Show. Can't wait for that huge milestone!
The Windows arcade machine kinda makes me think about an old Windows 3.1 game called Inner Space. It would collect the icons of the various apps installed on the computer so that you could shoot with your spaceship. The game didn't really work right on newer versions of Windows.
Ladyfractic calling out the VR animation for not getting the mechanics exactly right on the NES loading then following that up with "N64 which is the best console ever" just proves who the real brains of the operation is.
You two seem like a lovely couple. Would you like to come round for dinner one day? Bring the dogs. :-) Loving your family friendly shows. My first printer was a ZX Printer for my Speccy. I loved the tiny size, the shiny paper, the sound it made and even the smell!
Oh, that Thalamus music!!!! I love it so much (it’s there with the Ocean Loading music!). Please check Master Boot Records for the covers. They rock HARD.

My first printer was the Panasonic KX-P1081 which was a 9 pin dot matrix and had tractor feed for fanfold sheets. I used that for my BBC Micro in '80s. When I got my Amiga 500 I was still using it, then the A1200. After a while I retired it to the attic when my boss sold me his HP colour Deskjet that cost him a fortune but I got for mates rates. An amazing printer at the time. This was when HP still made excellent innovative products, well before Carly Fiorina destroyed the company. Modern HP printers are absolute trash.

As long as the ribbon is not torn or frayed you can carefully open up the ribbon cartridge and spray the bunched up ribbon inside lightly with WD-40 or another penetrating oil and it will re-ink your ribbon. Let everything dry before you put it back together and voila, re-inked printer ribbon! I used to do this on my Okidata 180 dot matrix printer back in the day.
I'm with Lady Fractic here: Sim Tower was also my favorite Sim game. However that's not Justin Bieber's house in a picture of Sim City, but Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2.
I see Sam from Look Mum No Computer had a Seikosha printer (a GP100VC) as part of a haul of old bits 'n bobs on his video posted today (as I type this comment... 11th Feb 2022)
I can't decide for my workshop if I need an impressive arcade machine like your Star Wars cabinet or if my 1980s BMW is enough in there...decisions decisions! Now that I am writing C64 games again I have realised I need a working dot matrix printer with fan-fold tractor feed paper to actually edit my C64 programs easily! Doing it on screen is only feasible for small programs.
Thanks for watching! If you enjoy these & want early access and more check out patreon.com/perifractic or click JOIN to support future vids 🙏
Bieber's house looks like a base building from command and conquer
@@Moondog66602 I stand corrected! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Nice hosue either way.

Ever since we watched your Knight Rider car conversion video my wife and I have been binge watching the show. 🤩

Sega were killing it in the UK with the Master System and MegaDrive. I remember having friends with a SNES and treating it like an alien technology.

Glad you got your childhood printer back Chris. I still have mine. It's a ADMATE DP-100. Used it with my C64 bread bin. Cheers.
I also loved the ending, with Phil Collins - In the air tonight (drum-roll),

Hum, I never heard of the 2008 Knight rider show. Wow! That was a rough ride. Not only was it canceled after one season, the number of ordered shows was dropped from 22 to 17. They REALLY did not want that show anymore.
Thank you awesome show. You guys are the best.
I had an official printer from Commodore..... I want to say it was called an MPS-801... and it could not handle lower case letters with tails like g or p
