  • Quite simply, the McManaman final. Indeed, so good was Steve's performance that Sir Stanley Matthews, who was the guest of honour at Wembley that day, later said: "He reminds me of me when I was playing." The match itself was a thoroughly entertaining affair in which First Division Bolton gave a really good account of themselves. Commentating are Brian Moore and Kevin Keegan.

    Love You Tube for videos like this! Stig Ing Bjorneby, now theres a name I haven't heard for a while! All of these players were my heros growing up and cemented my love of LFC. Remember all the posters on my wall from Match magazine and going to Anfield a few years later and meeting Jason Mcateer. Memories!!

      Liverpool had some top talent in the 90s like but their defence was always puke, much like newcastle couldn't see games out. Razor Ruddock summed up where their downfall was because they'd no issue scoring goals with Fowler, Owen, collymore, berger, mcmanaman etc

    I watched this with my brother. He complained a lot about the first half not producing enough chances for Liverpool saying they weren't as deadly as the late '80s Reds team. McManaman was amazing, running at defences and not losing control. A pity it all got ruined by The Spice Boys.

    Liverpool were the overwhelming favourites and in the end deserved to win. But saying that, Bolton could hold their heads up high having given them a real run for their money.

  • @04Redeemed

    could have won the league in 1996, should have won it in 1997! Roy Evans did a fine job steadying the ship after dalglish's sudden departure and souness' destruction of a settled side. Brought us back to our identity, he should have been given more time in my opinion.

    • @siddarthbalakrishnan9657
      @siddarthbalakrishnan9657 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People often forget that we were actually a pretty good side in the 90s as well. We always kept finishing in the top 4, usually top 3 but the problem was that back then it was only good enough for UEFA Cup football and some years we were really unlucky like 1997 finishing on the same number of points as Newcastle but missing out on ucl due to GD and a final day loss to Sheffield Wednesday. We'd reach cup finals quite often as well. We did go a long while without ucl football but it was more difficult to get into it then. These days top 4 is looked at as an achievement. Evans' tenure ended with 3 consecutive top 4 finishes that's basically what Houllier and Rafa did but they're remembered better because it was champions league football in their time

    Bullshit. Commentators over hype Players Massively otherwise no one would take much notice, Look at the keepers
    making standard saves, and because Players shoot straight at them but there made out to be a super save. They do it today.

  • @Cashback13
    @Cashback13 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The first of Liverpool's lucky cup final wins against supposedly 'inferior' opposition. Commentary from Keegan is typically biased as ever. Bolton who were in the First Division at the time more than matched them on the day and 2 wonder goals saved Liverpool's blushes. Finals against Alaves, Cardiff and Birmingham just showed how poor Liverpool have been. Soon as they come up against someone decent they always lose. Only Final they've won 'kind of' convincingly was the League Cup in 2003, but as they finished 5th in the league that year it was small fry.
