Just got a chance to play with the color editor now that it's live. You're mini does an excellent job of showing the quality of the print. The photo's I've seen don't give it justice.
Philhelm it’s an entirely different plastic for the color minis, insofar as I can tell. It is extremely high quality but also is not as inflexible as the premium.
dose anyone else never intend to actually buy them or print them but just make them on the website and color them when the color tools do come out cause i already have a few minis i wana paint
Dude, the first thing I'm doing as soon as the color tools drop is just coloring minis for digital tokens. I love Heroforge and often just use the minis I make on there as Tokens (snip a screenshot and all that). Having the ability to have them in color would be great.
They did, but at the time they had no means to fix it. I think they largely solved the issue now, but the minis are still very glossy and I am not always happy with how the color prints come out. I almost feel like it is better to just get the high quality blank prints and paint them.
@An Extrovert Paints! I know that, I can’t afford to print them. I just like messing around on the actual website and creating stuff, but it will be free to mess around with, not print, right?
I thought about it, but with the printing process the surface is a little rough and I think the wash would stain it rather than tint it, which I want to avoid. I honestly don't mind the lighter tone though.
@@AnExtrovertPaints Glad you like it as-is. Seems like metals, gems, and glass would be really hard to do with the colors that result from their solid print process. Someone is going to be the first to come up with some simple but neat after-print paint ideas for the inexperienced amateur to get those areas to match their concept a little better.
Jacey Darling nothing changed. I though it would reduce the shininess and for the video recording it looked like it did, but ultimately the varnish did nothing. So when you are seeing is what it looked like before the varnish.
I just got my colored mini and I hate how the color turned out the armor was practically white and all the other colors where practically muted and very dull. I ended up just having to repaint most of the mini by hand and I think it was a big waste of money. The mini its self is really cool looking but I just should have saved my money and got a premium plastic mini and painted it.
Nah they’re fine. And Hero Forge is improving their printing methods every week. I had one of the first batches so the color looks off but it is still an impressive technology and I am happy with it.

Great review! The miniature looks really good!I really enjoyed the way you showed the whole process...
Thanks! I was really impressed with their set-up.
ty for taking ur time in doing this video! :D stay safe!
P cj Thanks for watching! You stay safe as well. :-)
I may have missed it, but I believe they have two plastics, "plastic" and "premium plastic." Do you know which this miniature is made from?

Cool video buddy!
Game changer for people who don’t have time to paint! Pricey though but incredibly good details. Let us know about the specs!
Been waiting too long for this.... need to happen soon!!!
Would it be okay to use a wash and then the varnish?

It’s addictive. Sooo addictive.
Did they ever get back to you on the speckles?

AAAAAH! I’ve created like 100s of models and I Can’t WAIT!! When do u think it will be out? 😀😀😀😀😀
I wish I had a timeline, but sadly it is unclear. I think they said later in the year.
I CANT WAIT
Very interesting review, great option for RPG players in particular.
Thanks! And I agree, I think this is going to be great for DnD, Pathfinder, or other similar games.
When does it release for free?
Jeff Jeff 2 It is due to release to the public sometime by the end of the year, I think. It won’t be free though; it costs money to print in color :-)

@@jeffjeff2514 Yes that's true! I've been having a lot of fun just creating minis. =D
@Benjamin Smith it’s 100% free to create minis on the site but if you want to buy it then... yeah it won’t be free
Seems like you can still do a simple black wash to mute the tones a little closer to your concept.

@@MichaelOnines Are you implying something? =D I might have to consider that.
Some washes would give it some shading and bring out some detail
Would've been nice to see a review before you varnished it...

impressive!
It really is! The technology blows my mind.
@@AnExtrovertPaints in some years things are going to be even more awesome! :D
