    Hey Kyle, and everyone. Great vid as usual. I don't pay that much attention to my cards I even had to go get them to see what I have. I guess I've never had enough of a problem to mind them.
    I use mostly Kingston and SanDisk, though my largest/fastest are 2 Adata 64Gb micro-SD. Funny enough, I never had any problem with micros and I find them convenient since my in-computer reader broke, so I use a USB adaptor to transfer the pics.
    As for the size, I have to say, with the Sony A6000 (not shooting RAW) I usually have more than enough with a 32Gb. Last year I took a 22-day trip and used 1.5 of the 64Gb. cards, bun on a 1-day shoot, 32 is way more than enough. There, that's my 2 cents.

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah shooting RAW the file sizes with be 24mb’s a piece. So that adds up! I only shoot RAW, or at least 99% of the time, so my cards get full quite quick. Then throw a TH-cam video or two in there and things fill up reallll quick for me. Thanks for checking this out!

    • @kyletaggart

      Nope! Since I moved to recording to the a6100 I made a custom color temp, and then I use an exposure adjustment in final cut to add a slight bit of contrast. The color in general is better in the a6100 than a6000. One day I’ll shoot in log files, but until I have a camera that can, I like to keep it simple! Thanks!

    Super informative! Samsung also makes good SD cards and are reputable for their SSDs. I have no issues with micro SD. It's more versatile if I need to use it in other devices. Their adapter is durable unlike other cheaper brands. I would love to see Sony implement an auto-sync feature to the cloud or dual card slots on the next iteration. Perhaps 5G could be on the roadmap?

    Thnx for the explanations. Appreciate the info. If you see this I had a question with respect to sd card readers... any guidance would be helpful...
    I just got the a6600 camera and got an insignia 3.0 card reader... I have a Mac Pro... but for some reason though I’ve played back the vid i shot in my camera and it’s fine... when I place it in the card reader I have issues - one time computer told me it can’t read the card... so I place sd card back in my camera to transfer it to computer via camera - but then the camera told me the card needs to be reformatted and I lost the images. Another time the card reader did mount on my computer - most images and vids were ok and I transferred - but one video registered at 0kb and didn’t work (though it played back on camera firm beforehand). Again - I took card and put it back in the a6600 to read after it via camera and it said the card needs to be reformatted. Basically it seems simply placing card (formatted in a6600) into the usb card reader makes it so that when it goes back in camera it says it is unreadable and needs to be reformatted- even if it didn’t even mount on my Mac. This seems a terrible problem to have if I actually use it for a shoot.
    Is there anything I’m doing wrong or is there an SD card reader you recommend that won’t do this... or does it sound like a case of a damaged cars reader (though it’s brand new)? Thanks for response if you read this and good video.

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting situation and one you may be able to rule out by testing different things. I’d use a different SD card and see if you can replicate the same issue. That would tell you if it’s the card or not. I’ve never had my a6000 or a6100 tell me to reformat a card. I have had where it needs to recreate a local database a message that really means nothing to the user, and it loads for a few seconds and then everything is usable. I can’t recall a message like the one you’re seeing. Also, the insignia card reader may be the issue, so it’s worth a try to try another card reader as well. Wish I had better info but this seems like one of the pieces in this loop is causing an issue.

    • @TPasquin101
      @TPasquin101 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bud and yes actually I did just that - went to Best Buy where I bought the card reader and geek squad’s card reader didn’t do that. It was a defective reader. So I switched it out for a different insignia card reader (went with the thumb drive adapter one but either would have probly been fine) and worked perfectly. So I’m stoked and ready to film some stuff. Yes that error message was quite disconcerting and cost me a bunch of footage I shot. Luckily it was the card reader causing it. Have a good day and thanks for the help / reply.

      Is honestly have to look that camera up. Is it a camcorder? Sandisk is a top SD card brand. If that camera supports EHS II. I’d snag one of those. Links in the description of a bunch of cards I recommend.

    Hi Kyle I was interested in the Extreme (not pro) 64gb with read speeds up to 150mb and write up to 100mb you linked but after much googling of reviews the write speed is only 40mb that’s a big difference. Maybe the extreme pro is better?

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The write speed is limited in camera to 34mb. Out of camera it’s up to 100mb but depends on the slot/port. The extreme pro is the higher tier SanDisk card.

      hikyletaggart ok thank you for the clarification I just bought the 6400 so maybe I’ll just get the extreme. I noticed target has the same SD card but it says plus other than that it looks the same but it’s $24.99 for the 64gb. I was thinking they might PM amazon but probably not since it says extreme plus. I can’t find a difference anywhere online. Very weird 🤷‍♀️ have you had a chance to review the 70-350 lens? I noticed it’s $100 cheaper. I just can’t decide if I want to buy it or not or wait for a good deal on the 200-600 but it’s quite a bit heavier. This would be mainly for birds. Thanks for all your help

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 200-600 is much older, not always an indicator of quality, but I’d be confident the 70-350 is better quality overall. However if overall range is your desire, then try and get a used 200-600. I did have the 70-350 for a week or two for testing, but I just didn’t have enough time to review as I had other products at the time. Also, the extreme plus, is below the pro. I would just recommend the pro.

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@leighann5308 I thought I responded to this yesterday but I'm not seeing my response. Anyways, I would recommend the Extreme Pro honestly. As for the 70-350mm, I had it for a litttle bit for testing, but unfortunately didn't have time for a review. Great great lens. The 200-600 is obviously an insane range but it is an older lens. I have never used that lens so can't comment on it's performance. I did really like the 70-350 though, however it is pricy, but then again most zooms are. You won't be disappointed with the lens quality of the 70-350, but I can't comment on it's performance vs the 200-600.

    Can you explain what read speed means or is in charge of? Also, can you explain if certain kinds of SD cards can alter the dimensions of your video footage?

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I understand the read speed is how fast the card can be read. Both read and write are important for file transfer to your pc, phone, tablet, whichever. The write speed IN the a6000k cameras, is capped at a certain point (34mb/s) but having a card way over that is still great for file transfer. Your second question, you need a 64 GB (SDXC) card, or 128 GB, 256 GB, anything higher than 64 GB will unlock the XAVCS which is the highest quality video mode on the a6k cameras.
