You don’t need to heat caulk before cutting. I’m not sure if the heat gun will help break what’s on the back. Sheetrock is weak and will just let go. Unless that’s the worlds weakest granite I wouldn’t bother. You’ll just end up damaging the paint if your not careful. Just take a razor and cut the caulk all around. Stick a 8 in one behind it and tap. It only takes about a minute.
How many times did you burn your hands during this job? Good video though, I would have add all the wedges out of the packaging prior, also would have worn gloves too (from previous experience with heat gun)
Omg, I wish I had seen this video before I turn off the two pieces of granite on the side of my stove but I still have the sink side tomorrow so this will help a lot because that’s a long piece of granite. And we have a heat gun. 👍🏽👌🏽
When removed it gives you more counter space. Also, if you place a light colored tile backsplash or paint the wall it makes the kitchen appear much brighter.
May be in under 10 minutes you will call firefighters

Awesome job! I need to do that to trim my backsplash
What if the backsplash is from the counter all the way up underneath the cabinets like mine? 🙁
I have the same issue ! What did you find out?
What backsplash did you go with. We have that exact granite. Thanks
A description of the process would be great.
Thank you!!!

can you tell me whether heat gun is different from hairdryer?
@@wch4972 same principle, but heat gun puts out more heat, usual two settings, hi/low both of which would cause skin burns if not careful!

Thx

Is the granite backsplash lip considered outdated?

Thanks!
Me watching to see if you're going to fry your light switch wires while you try to multitask...
Great job!!
What about the rest of it?
If you don’t have a heat gun, will a blow dryer be ok?
i have same question
@wch4972 sorry I am just seeing this comment. it likely won't get hot enough. :(
