    Genius idea on how to make the design on the ax handle. My father was part owner in a company that made and installed granite gravestones. This is the same method my father used to put designs on tombstones. They would cut designs out of a thick rubber and glue it to the smooth granite and sandblast it. The sand bounced off the rubber and ate away the granite.
    had forgotten this thanks for the reminder.

    About double bit axes. An old timer a long time ago, because now i am an old timer lol, told me that most double bit axes are actually two different axe shapes. One of them is shaped and designed to fell trees and the other half is shaped as a more general use axe or as he called it a camp axe for cutting and splitting wood and trimming branches. I don't know for a fact is that is true but if you look at any given double bit axe you will see that one half is a little different just like the one you so beautifully restored.

    • @ScoutCrafter
      @ScoutCrafter  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tim- I have heard the same thing from a lot of people saying that the two bits were traditionally sharpened different. However, when they came from the factory, they were identical, so I think whoever use the ax would customize it to their particular use. 😃👍

Great way to make rivets if you don’t have any or on a budget and can’t get them.👍 I also liked the information to properly install and get the right kind of wedges for your wooden handles.
