Wrongfully Accused was a hilarious 90s movie with Leslie Nielsen that parodied The Fugitive
I knew I wasn’t the only one that remembered that! I watched wrongfully accused years before the fugitive and it was fun to get all the references 😄
One of the reasons this looked so good was it was scanned in at 8K. Just finished watching it before watching your review and it looked stunning. Didn't catch much coming out of the heights for the Atmos track to be honest but it's still a great track.
Watched this last night, steelbook is pretty cool. I think this is Harrisons best acting. My favorite Ford film though is Empire.

I heard the transfer is amazing. Apparently the negative was scanned at 8K res.
U.S Marshalls with Wesley Snipes was decent too I wonder if that would ever get a 4k scan 🙏🤞

So now that you have seen the fugitive, you have to watch US Marshalls (1998) jones plays the same character in both films and they are both great
I’m envious because there is nothing like the 1st time. I’ve watched this movie so many times it’s crazy. Had it on VHS. Had it on laserdisc. Had it on dvd. Tommy Lee Jones nailed his role and made this a perfect movie.
Harrison Ford will always in my eyes be known for Indiana Jones.

The general quality of films has definitely declined. This is one of the main reasons I've started collecting older films. The Fugitive being a great example. They really did a great transfer to 4k. Great addition to the collection.
Thats not entirely true. Just just put out so much movies out now that the good ones get drowned out by the trash

Gotta be Empire strikes back first, followed by Blade Runner, then Raiders, then Clear and present danger is a cracking movie.
Now you have to watch US Marshalls.
The movie also has Andreas Katsulas who played G’Kar on Babylon 5.

The fact that you could avoid watching The Fugitive all these years is impressive. It was played non-stop on the likes of TBS, TNT, AMC, etc for decades.
When they shoot the credits at the beginning of movies, they film over the the movie to place the credits. So it would be rare to back and re shoot. So that’s why the beginning of 4K blu rays people always poo poo over the picture quality.
Makes sense. I didn't even realize the credits were still rolling until I was 15 minutes in and "The Fugitive" popped up. Lol

I played The Fugitive two nights ago and it looks Spectacular on 4k Ultra HD and the Dolby Atmos sounds out of this world 👍

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
Wanting to pick up sometime! Not sure when since all the others I've bought the last couple days!
I think the reason publishers keep changing the artwork on older movies is because they're afraid the original artwork has been forgotten and won't grab people's attention. So they come up with a new cover that shows images from the movie that they think will remind you of what movie it is and make you want to see it again.
I don't like this cover either though.
With today's internet shopping, the physical box isn't what most people see when they make a purchase decision anymore. So if it helps sales, I think they should use the modern "reworked" artwork on internet ads and Amazon listings and such, but the actual physical packaging should still use the original artwork from when the movies were new. Then everybody would be happy. Even somebody who made an impulse purchase based on the "modern" artwork still probably wants the original artwork on the actual box.
My favorite Harrison Ford film would be “Star Wars: A New Hope” since it’s my favorite film of all-time. However, if we’re talking about my favorite film where Ford plays the main lead, that would be “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. #FBWilliamPortalatin

I dont think we fan really know what this film should look like unless we have a print. The former blu ray and dvd were given weak encodes and the 30th anniversary Blu ray was better. At first glance this 4k looks extremly good, very sharp. Until you see that certain sequences like the dam and early escape scene have teal all over them. Look at the where the guard stops him in the hospital(the yellowish light is now teal) and the shot of Kimble at the payphone in Chicago. All the buildings have individual colour and great contrast. Its now all greenish teal! This movie does look more like chilly Chicago, like you can feel it but that was only accomplished by pulling back the contrast(odd choice for watching a movie in HDR) using a cooler colour temperature and putting teal on it to make it look more modern which is idiotic! Such a wasted opportunity. They didnt mess with the grain at least so there is a lot of detail and the proper aspect ratio.

I saw the fugitive,on dvd,and was not my cup of tea,plot was ok,but didnt enjoy seeing harrison,as a escape person,preffer him in star wars

This was one where i liked the regular slipcover edition more than the steelbook, which is cool itself.
Andrew Davis has directed a Chuck Norris film (Code Of Silence) and two Steven Segal movies (Above The Law and Under Siege). Not to mention he directed one Arnold Schwarzenegger film (Collateral Damage). He also directed a very good Gene Hackman film (The Package), Holes, and The Guardian.

For some odd reason this movie is my favorite post night out movie. Ill get back after beers and watch it .....have done for years.... the original tv show was great also. Would love to enter the comp but the idea of leaving an email address in an open platform....yikes.....

Anyone else prefer the sequal? I always did. Also as a side note the UK release has the blue Ray as well.
You are so spot on about special features. I base my 4K purchases mainly on special features if I already own the Blu-Ray. Since I own the Blu-Ray, I'll stick with that as I'm happy with it. Like you mentioned, they should include new features when doing these 4K upgrades. They could get a film historian to do a new commentary.
As far the the director, Andrew Davis, he also directed Under Siege with Steven Seagal and of course Tommy Lee Jones. As you might expect, Tommy Lee Jones steals every scene he's in. Gary Busy is good in it too. By the way, this movie badly needs a 4K upgrade.
Would love to see Under Siege get a 4K release. The Fugitive and Under Siege were obviously filmed back to back because Andrew Davis uses many of the same actors in both films. There are so many you could make a game out of it.

I have the 2013 bluray that I just picked up last year but never doubted I would pick it up on 4K. Watched a couple of reviews yesterday and they both indicated that the 4K release could be considered reference quality. Even though my wife asked me to refrain from buying new movies until after Christmas I ordered it from Amazon yesterday, $22.76 shipped, and it will be here today.
Andrew Davis also directed Under Siege with Steven Seagal and Tommy Lee Jones. Both films were shot within the same year and feature many of the same actors and actresses, enough you could make a game out of pointing them all out.
Favorite Ford film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Indiana Jones is my favorite character he has played. After Air Force One was released he really seemed to hit a wall with his roles and had more misses than makes even when returning to the roles that made him a superstar.
I know the giveway is US only. Just wanna recommend you two Harrison Ford movies: Presumed Innocent (1990) and my personal favorite: Regarding Henry (1991).
You can’t go wrong with any of the Indiana Jones films, but Raiders of the Lost Ark has to be my favorite Harrison Ford film!
Add warner brothers screwed the pooch again on the artwork. I ended up taking the cover off my Blu-ray and slipping it in over here. Crochets art worth they provided for the 4k

This is the format in which Michael Chapman’s cinematography finally gets to shine.
I am amazed you have never seen a fugitive.. You really should check out the old television Series it was the only tv show back in the day that had a beginning of middle and an end they never wrapped shows Up with a Valley back then it seems all these shows.
We'd never get a true channel but the fugitive did..

Warner Brothers art covers are really not the best in the Physical media business. That department must be reviewed and take action. We the collectors would prefer the original release cover arts or at least being reversible covers in case they become too imaginary. One of the reasons I gave upgraded Unforgiven, Poltergeist and some other titles is just because of the horrible cover arts.
As always great review, Ken. The Fugitive is in my top 50 movies and although the remastered bluray from 2011 has a good image, the transfer was a little dated and far from exceptional. Evidently WB's new 8K scan paid off. In addition to that, the 4K received an important upgrade in audio. Now I will gladly add it to my collection. In answer to your question, I don't know if I have a favorite Harrison Ford movie, come on, he made Indiana Jones and Star Wars. Maybe my top 3 is The Fugitive, Raiders of the Lost Ark/The Last Crusade and The Empire Strikes Back. Also, although it is not in the top, I really enjoy Air Force One.
I have several Harrison Ford favorites. The Fugitive is one of them. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is probably my most favorite..nah, definitely Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Oh man, that's a hard one. While I really love Star Wars, I might be there with you on Air Force One. I watched that way too much when I was a kid, probably almost as much as Face-Off.

You missed out not seeing this in theaters back in the 90s. I saw it in theaters the weekend The Fugitive came out not expecting much at the time as I wasn't too familiar with the TV series. The reactions of the audience I was sitting with is still memorable to this day. The screams, tension filled squeals, and laughter (towards Tommy Lee one liners and his crew) made the movie stand out. At one point a woman stood up in her seat and screamed at the screen at one particular point during the hospital chase scene and I am sure those who have seen it know the particular scene I am referring to. This was such an amazing television to movie adaption.

But for me it doesn't seem to have been openly embraced in the popular culture as being as beloved a classic as casablanca, Ben hur, gone with the wind, raging bull, the big country, modern classics like The Big Lebowski, Avatar and CODA. It is still looked at as that 90s Ford blockbuster yet I know it's so much more!

I couldn’t wait to see your review knowing you’ve never seen this. Iconic film. I think we have a Couple of actors of this caliber in this age group, these days… Christian Bale is one of them. I’m so glad they did this 4k right. I was So pissed about The Exorcist transfer, that I was afraid this would be another dud. I get mine today, I’m so excited. I’ve wanted to rewatch this for like a year, but I heard about this 4k release coming, so waited for it to release. I know what I’m watchin tonight! Happy they put a Dolby Atmos track on it. 👍
