      The manual says to ream the glow plug tip bore prior to installing the new glow plug, as the carbon build up can cause the ceramic tip to get pushed off center while installing it and wha-la tip breaks off

    Serious question because I need to do my glows plugs on my 2017 . Are there better aftermarket glow plugs ? I’m not looking to cheap out , I will pay more . If factory AC Delco glow plugs are the plugs that they use stock and they are known to be defective how does replacing them with the same thing do me any good ? They are the same plugs I’m putting back in ? Did they fix the problem with the replacements I will get from AC Delco ? I’m not a mechanic and I don’t want to have to keep replacing them . Any insight to my question would be appreciated. Thx

    I just replaced my #6 glow plug on my 07 LMM because of a code. I bought ACDelco but the guy at OReilley said his diesel guys tell him the way to not have problems is to use Bosch (at 2.5 times the cost). I believe my issue was corrosion on the power wire because the nut spun without coming off and was quite rusty. Had to break the stud off to remove it. Used a stainless washer and nut on the new gp

I thought I was getting all 8 replaced but the bulletin does not allow that. The letter sent to me says they will cover replacing bad glow plugs on the 2018 model L5P up to 150,000 miles.

    I replaced all 8 of mine on my lml when one went bad at 60K. No point in just replacing one when another will go soon after. I’ve read on Facebook duramax forums about the plugs snapping off, but 1/2 the time the truck were in the salt regions & the engine areas where completely shitted up with rust & corrosion. Also put anti-seize on the threads, it’ll help you when removing the plug.

    I’ve owned many diesels and switched to a gasser.. missing the towing power with a diesel. Would you recommend an L5P as a daily driver/tow vehicle? • @tcwaterdrill
    @tcwaterdrill 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the factory L5P glow plugs are a peace of sh-t, and you want everyone then go out and buy the same glow plugs that you are now calling the best glow plugs??????? I have a 1996 GMC truck with the 4.3l V6 engine, no telling how many OEM injectors I had replaced the first 4 years of its life. I would not sell it because I did not want to stick someone else with the problem. I even went so far as buying tow insurance to make sure it would be brought home. I would not drive it more than 55 miles from home. I think it has only 134,000 miles on it today. What solved my problem was buying a after market complete injector spider with 6 aftermarket injectors. Have not had to change a injector for the past 80,000 miles. GM knew they had injector problems with that year truck engine and just kepted replacing them with the same injectors. The complete aftermarket spider and 6 injectors cost less than 2 OEM injectors. How many times does the aftermarket companies have to slove the manufacture's screw up's??????????? Time and time again.
