The confusion of the two had always confounded me. It seems as though at least in the United States,that there is some sort of a "character defect' suspected of the person whose health problems are symptomatic in a behavioral manner. Made me think of the scene in Stepford Wives, when Katharine Ross' character Joanna stabbed the other character Bobbie she thought was her friend, but was robotic. I also think of Katharine riding on the handlebars of the bicycle in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head playing. Strange to hear of this incident 13 years after it happened.

People with bipolar have usually been victims of abuse or suffered eg grief in early life. Mental illness is not the sufferer's fault. I hope they can all love each other and get to a really special relationship.
Actually my experience in knowing bipolar folk is that that have a predisposition to it and if early in life they feel thwarted in achieving something they want , no matter how outlandish it may be, they begin the journey of bipolar. It can even be jealousy of another sibling who is considered Superior in looks or intelligence or personality. thiat is enough to set them off on a bipolar episode.
I didn't realize Katharine Ross was this woman I'd seen in various movies and so she definitely would be something that an extremely tall --due to her father's genes --young woman could be jealous of. Also diet has a large part to play in it and is the easiest thing to alter but my guess is that she's head-strong and would not be amenable to that, especially as this video was recalling an incident that occurred 13 years ago. Everyone's talking about diet now so there's a possibility that this young woman-- who now is a middle-aged woman of about 40 --would be amenable to altering her diet radically. There are many posts online that would indicate the type of diet that is better for mental challenges, as they like to term it.
In addition I must say when you look at the children of famous actors, there seems to be a greater preponderance of disturbances. Case in point : Jamie Lee Curtis's child is a trans child. I'm not sure which gender she was and which gender she chose so you can switch those pronouns any way you want. Warren Beattie's first born became a trans man. Charlize theron has a trans female (originally adopted) child Etcetera. Some people have pointed out that the name Jamie and also Charlie which is the first and third actresses mentioned are often male names and it is hypothesized that especially Jamie Lee Curtis was intersex which I believe is probably true and that could be the truth also of Charlize Theron. Who knows?
In the case of Katherine Ross's daughter they appear to be straight up heterosexual parents but it is difficult to grow up with famous parents and being as tall as she appears to be-- although it's considered an attribute now-- is still difficult, especially back when she was born.
I have known several bipolar people and when they are thwarted in something they want --unlike the rest of us who usually just carry on-- they take it personally and their reaction can be in many forms and one can be revenge that often involves violence. I will say that her parents were older when she was conceived and the truth of the matter is-- although it's a common age, especially for movie stars, it involves the children being more at risk for mental disturbances. That's just a fact.

That's not true for everyone. Mental illness does not discriminate and can occur in anyone with the right genes. Most doctors feel it's genetic.
