Block b‘s debut back in 2011 got me into kpop. It’s been such a long time and they will always be my fav dorks Ahahaha. They are so different personality wise like everyone is just a dork but in a different way from each other. Hard to explain but they are super funny and memes so you definitely should check out their funny moments sometime. I totally agree with what you said. We just dont see performances in western/hollywood music so much...usually the scenes are the same and even the outfits and makeup. Kpop is so starkingly different and they try different things so people who are unfamiliar just feel like 'wut' at first. Their performances are such an integral part of their music videos and we can see that they put in so much hard work!

Glad you checked out Block B because they seem to have been forgotten by the new wave of fans. They still have a solid fanbase but yeah, they have a lot of hip hop and rap influences in their music because Zico and Kyung are both pretty well established rappers in Korea, Zico perhaps a lot more than Kung but yeah they also have solo tracks and releases. You should definitely consider going back and checking out some of their older MVs like Nilili Mambo and Nalina. One of their more recent releases was Toy and it was a little different from some of their other stuff but still pretty solid with some great choreography.
For real on the dance... I'm actually EXCITED for k-pop/k-rap groups to come to Chi-town and I'm actually gonna start going to concerts again after 20+ years of them not being worth going to because of the lack of performance on the artists part

Although Epik High doesn't have dance videos, I would recommend them HIGHLY. You talk about hip hop from back in the day, Epik High is considered one of the pioneers for hip hop in South Korea during the earlyyyyyy 2000's. They are known as respected legends in Korea's hip hop world, especially their leader, Tablo. Tablo is a Korean Canadian with a high IQ who came to Korea decades ago to be a rapper. If ANYTHING, check out Tablo's solo album in your free time. It's called Fever's End. And I'm coming to you real on this, I respect Tablo and Epik High a lot. I think you would love them.

KPOP isn't really a small category to label. BlockB is a kpop group that always change up their genre and style. Some guys are just pure Khiphop but if you see a group they're most likely a kpop group with a unique style and taste with hiphop vibes.
U-Known,the guy with purple hair is their main dancer, the one that dances the best in the band. He was in Hit The Stage which was a show between dancers from different k-pop groups making their own choreography together with professional back-up dancers, it'really cool :) I think you should definitely check it out if you really like perfomances! ^^
Really enjoy your react-vids! And yes! You are right, back then it's all about performance. How singers/rappers back then will put the best performances ever. Choreographies and concepts, they're beats and tunes! Exactly how I got into KMusic. I was looking for something different but at the same time it was somewhat familiar (idk if that made sense but i think u understand). Im not trying to bash our American artists but when u turn on the radio, u hear just about the same songs/artist almost every 5mins even when u try to switch stations. At least now I can mix my Kmusic wit my Amusic on my playlist...lol
I 100% agree with you the the performance element! That's what got me into kpop/khh too! They give you the full package: singing, dancing, and visual appeal. And you can tell they put a lot of time and effort to show the best performance for their fans. That's what I feel like a lot of American artists are lacking and why I honestly stopped listening to American music for a while until recently. That performance element is so crucial to a successful artist.

K-Rap/Pop/Hiphop is a different caliber so is J/HipHop (Japanese) which has a more Reggae feel you should check that out also.

KPOP isn't really a small category to label. BlockB is a kpop group that always change up their genre and style. Some guys are just pure Khiphop but if you see a group they're most likely a kpop group with a unique style and taste with hiphop vibes.

U-Known,the guy with purple hair is their main dancer, the one that dances the best in the band. He was in Hit The Stage which was a show between dancers from different k-pop groups making their own choreography together with professional back-up dancers, it'really cool :) I think you should definitely check it out if you really like perfomances! ^^

And yes! You are right, back then it's all about performance. How singers/rappers back then will put the best performances ever. Choreographies and concepts, they're beats and tunes! Exactly how I got into KMusic. I was looking for something different but at the same time it was somewhat familiar (idk if that made sense but i think u understand). Im not trying to bash our American artists but when u turn on the radio, u hear just about the same songs/artist almost every 5mins even when u try to switch stations. At least now I can mix my Kmusic wit my Amusic on my playlist...lol

I 100% agree with you the the performance element! That's what got me into kpop/khh too! They give you the full package: singing, dancing, and visual appeal. And you can tell they put a lot of time and effort to show the best performance for their fans. That's what I feel like a lot of American artists are lacking and why I honestly stopped listening to American music for a while until recently. That performance element is so crucial to a successful artist.
I'm glad u liked them :) been a bbc (fanclub name) for years now and block b are definitely awesome yet totally underrated! Fun fact: Zico (leader and main rapperr from block b - starts off the song) and RapMonster are friends and worked together in the underground rapscene before their deput. Zico is also hella talented and very succsessful as soloist and producer!!!
