No kidding, wow, what a bunch of envious, judgmental hacks...if you're rich and play guitar, you're a "soulless, greedy &%#$ who cant play worth &%#@@" get a life...

I had never actually seen Bachmann play live. I grew with BTO on the radio, but was shocked to see the lack of ability the man displayed when I saw the video. If he was given lessons by Lenny Breau, he must have been sleeping at the time. Anyway....
+Alistair Kinnear I agree, he's not firing on all cylinders on this vid, for sure....he can play a lot better...as I think about it, "consistency" is often an issue with some players..another fave of mine is "Buck Dharma" (Blue Oyster Cult); when he's "on" he's fantastic, one of the best; but, when he's "off", yuck!
Props to the host for putting together this piece on guitar players. Highlighting how the simple guitar can bring together people of different backgrounds, even this impromptu jam allows Mr. O’leery and Mr. Bachman to put aside their massive egos and connect.
Randy Bachman has always been one of of the musicians i look up to,and have learnt from, great player and song writer, seen him when he was with BTO...Very rock solid down to earth guy..We need more like him in this world
I wouldn’t call it jazz chops. But Randy was great at using some jazz chords / principles he learned from Lenny to create some great, unique popular music. I’ve never heard him play real jazz.
Jim Treleven from the same show was a friend of my family. His parents were very good friends with my grandparents. He briefly dated my mother in the 50s.
It is difficult to build a great business and at the same time playing an instrument. Kevin is allright for a hobby-guitarist. We have enough examples of the opposite: Guitarists who do the pentatonic blues tunes slightly better but does not know how to make a decent living. It is all about balance.
i don't see what all the negative comments were about. i play 5 instruments and that was a great set. i don't know what i was expecting but a basic blues rift is super simple and they both did very nice.
+shakaama Yep. Some people have nothing better to do than gripe about everything. This is what its like to play stuck on a barstool, on a overlit tv stage, with crap amps, no pedals, no effects, no band, no rehearsal, just six strings and a pick. Both do fine. Bachman didn't rack up the catalog he's got without huge ability.
Shakaama You could sell alot of records then the internet came along and changed everything...no.Alot happened in between that but the main thing that killed rock is disco! The damn record companies went after the lowest common denominator crap path and ruined themselves in the process!Good for the internet for giving us just what we wanted all along...The good stuff!

I love players that have their distinct sound: Jeff Beck, Johnny Winter, Joe Walsh, and even Carl Wilson in his day. Randy Bachman is right up there with them. He really has his own sound.
"Lookin out for number one" is one of my all time favs ! Someday I'll figure it out. It has so many high spots. Such a pleasure! Thanks Randy from Van Isle.
Just in case you somehow missed it, but Randy B is currently touring. I already have tix for his show in Bloomsburg PA in September. It's during this Bloomsburg State Fair, the largest fair in PA! The opening band is Foghat, which years ago blew me away with a show as good as Foghat Live in '77. But I saw them last year at a small amphitheater in Sunbury PA, at Spyglass Winery. Great venue, but this band calls itself Foghat, but the only original member still alive is the drummer, who drums like he's about 82, which he probably is, and the rest of the band ducked. Very disappointing. George Thorogood opened, and it was George, and a pretty good band, but a lot of what made George great was his energy, which he sorely lacks now. Anyway, I put the Foghat drummer down for his age, yet Randy is 80 yo, and still kicking ass. I can't wait to see him. I hope that he plays a lot of Guess Who stuff, most of which he wrote. Of course, it won't be the same without Burton Cummings voice, which I always thought was one of the greatest voices in rock.
Dude, he did fine. You make it sound like he just barely played a passable riff or something; the man was fucking jamming out. In front of a lot of people while being recorded, no less.
I love Kevin, he has a great heart & on Shark Tank he can be a jerk but I think deep down, he is actually helping the entrepreneurs. Also, he is a mega, fearless talent!
I’m more impressed than I thought. Look at Jeff Carlin.. dude won’t even pick a guitar up in front of someone else but has a monstrous guitar collection gathering dust
YEAH Randy Bachman was in one 1⃣ of the most popular bands in Rock history and I for one 1⃣ hope he gets his just desserts some day by being named one 1⃣ of the best guitar players in Rock and Roll history 😊😂❤😂😊❤😊❤😊❤
That was so cool. I wish kevin explained when he learned to play. Cause we all know it takes for our time and practice. And he's rich because he spent a lot of time getting that way. He must be inside to play with Randy bockman. !!!
You know it's actually very interesting that people ask musicians why they don't die young. For the most part unless you dabbled in hard drugs and overdosed, musicians historically have lived way longer lives than the average citizen. Look at all the musician rockers jamming into their 80's and even 90's in some cases. They attribute this not only to physical exercise, but also because music stimulates the brain and keeps it active. The number one killer is inactivity. If you stay active not just physically but mentally as well you stay young.
Shut the front door........................................Kevin plays git box? He jams like no other. I have grown a whole new level of respect for Mr. Wonderful. He can pick a guitar. WOW. I have always been a fan of BTO. Randy is awesome!!

Cool story. I'm sure he stays up crying, wiping his tears with golden tissue. I've been playing for 7 years. Thank God I'm not salty that he's on TV and I'm not like SOME OF US. Lol hope your aptitude gets you some money bruh.
John Banks with lots of money in the bank and some small level of celebrity, one can indeed play beginner guitar riffs on national tv with an actual known and accomplished Canadian musician (although I was never a HUGE fan of Bachman per se). Now if it were any regular person with a soul, given the chance to play with one of his/her idols......that'd be neat. Money isn't the 'be all and end all'.....myself, personally, I play music for my own benefit/amusement, not to be on tv (its the cbc....) or even really making any money doing it: )....I've been doing it for 20+ years.......Oh and it might be worth mentioning that I just think Kevin O'Leary is a douche.....I guess I just can't see how our tax money is paying that idiot (or even just providing him with an outlet) to talk about anything on national tv.
Kevin Carey after all those stories about robert johnson meeting with the devil at the "crossroads" it's interesting to see randy bachman jamming with the real thing on canuck tv....but the canuck devil needs some time in the woodshed....not only is he a soulless, greedy fuck...... he can't play either
Wow Kevin I know it was a long time ago but man I had no idea that that would be you!! You go guy!! Guitar player I like you even more now even more than your comments about Leticia James that's 2024.
Wow Kevin you not only collect them but you can play em in a great style. Life is full of surprises !!!
How could I have missed this for 11 years!! Awesome
Kevin did very well! I didn't know he could play that well. Randy Bachman is one of my favorites of all time. I love that guy.
He knows where to put the bends and where to syncopate. I'm impressed.
I wouldn't call that "well". He is a beginner.
@h2ue4bm6w He did well, I didn't say he did great, and I'm sure he did better than what you can do. LOL
@@user-uh2ue4bm6wll
@@johnnygoodman2003 i guess you are not a guitar player. he didn't syncopate once. bends were out of tune.

I’m a fan of Kevin, he loves guitars and music like we all do, kudos to Kevin, the top Shark.

Yeah, mine too - weird eh?
Props to the host for putting together this piece on guitar players. Highlighting how the simple guitar can bring together people of different backgrounds, even this impromptu jam allows Mr. O’leery and Mr. Bachman to put aside their massive egos and connect.
There's only 1 ego
Randy Bachman has always been one of of the musicians i look up to,and have learnt from, great player and song writer, seen him when he was with BTO...Very rock solid down to earth guy..We need more like him in this world
Randy isn’t just a rocker, he has jazz chops. Listen to his rhythm playing on “Undun” and his solos on “Blue Collar”
Ginger Baker...the great drummer from the rock band Cream..considered himself a jazz drummer.
Lookin Out For Number 1
Randy Bachman rocks
And don't forget Lookin' Out For #1
I wouldn’t call it jazz chops. But Randy was great at using some jazz chords / principles he learned from Lenny to create some great, unique popular music. I’ve never heard him play real jazz.
Kevin O’Leary is just the coolest guy. Of all the people on Shark Tank he’s the one I’d most like to meet in person. What a dude.
After seeing him 🎸🎶🎵, I agree 👍
Jim Treleven from the same show was a friend of my family. His parents were very good friends with my grandparents. He briefly dated my mother in the 50s.

Great job Kevin! Playing music with Randy…now you have it all.
lol, he just doesn't know or care about you.
REALLY COOL. Cheers to the mixing board guys who had enough sense to pull volumes up and down during the solos. Good stuff.
I never knew Kevin could rock like that. The guy is a badass on guitar.

My dream gig. What an honor to rock with a great one.. Kevin hung in there too. This was a treat thank you.
Who wouldn't have a great time Kevin playing with Randy Bachman awesome BTO definitely one of the greatest bands of rocknroll
It’s really great to see the level of honest enjoyment experienced in this clip

Love it,Randy and Kevin, keep on rocking
Met him in Tahoe in the 80s. Talked a few minutes with Randy. Super nice guy, bad ass rocker!
Another great announcer really nailing the use of the term playing unplugged on electric guitars.
When has unplugged ever really meant unplugged💀🤣
