  • In this episode of Tie TV, the professional fly tyer Andreas Andersson shows us how to tie a realistic deer hair mouse imitation! It might look more like a pet than fish food, but it's actually a very effective fly for big trout, bass, pike and many other predatory fish...

    I'm a disabled veteran who loved fishing in Florida but recently moved to N.E. Tennessee where fly fishing for big trout is the way to go. I never tried it till I moved here and now I'm hooked. It is the best therapy for PTSD and really relaxes me. I am truly in love with your mouse fly and would love to have one.
    Thanks for the video.

    All I can say is that you really have a pair of hands that are unbelievable,and are very
    Creative. You make it look so easy.
    You definitely are a master with deer hair and one of the best mouse patterns I’ve have seen.
    Thank you for explaining everything in detail.

    I originally made a snarky comment about copying work -- but I take it back. I have always struggled with getting the last bunch of hair at the eye of the hook because my hands are so big, but your technique is fantastic. And I haven't seen that used anywhere else. I appreciate it. You do great work.

    This video by Andreas is awesome in that I have had so much difficulty with properly spinning deer hair. I was referred to this fly after just reading Jac Fords great book on streamer fishing and flies, From The Middle Seat(was a guide). I really look forward to improving my technique for layering hair and building really durable big-fish flies. Andreas, you detailed your methods and especially your tips really well! I took 2 pages of notes, so am on my way! Thank you again for giving back to us all. Tom😊

    Thanks for sharing this fly, I saw this video a while back and it took me some time to find it again, I am glad I found it so I could let you know that you are the soul person who got me into tying with dear hair.
    Thanks for being you sharing and explaining the way you do.
    Thanks .

    I have always used Dave Whitlocks method of tying deer hair flies but you have shown me another method that I can't wait to try. I would love to win your fly but I doubt I would fish it I would rather keep it as a guide to attempt to copy . Thanks for the video!!!

    I should win this fly because it will take me months to get it right and I will have the inspiration of looking at a perfect one. I have watched this video at least three times now. I am amazed how nice that fly looks. It isn't difficult but takes some practice to get them looking as you do. Hat's off. I love the tip on the great vacuum cleaner. You are right. I usually tie my deer hair flies outside. When I mix hair, I cut the first color off and if I want the tips I turn it around and push it into the other color before I cut it off the skin. Then cut and they are mixed.
    it blows away in the wind and goes back into the earth. Not bothering the wife or the vacuum. All the best, Have a Holiday Season. Sean

    I should win the fly because it would mean forty minutes more fishing than tying. Cracking fly ( mouse ). For dry flies one old trick used to be dipping them into liquid mucin ( very high solvent content ) before going anywhere near the water. It worked a great for muddler heads and didn't need reapplying or gunked up the head. You would need a large jar to get a mouse in though. Cheers and many thanks for posting.

      +kanalgratisdotse Wow. Many thanks but I live in Scotland. Don't get me wrong if you sent it it would get used ( probably for pike as or trout don't appear to be as large as yours ).
      I would however be over the moon with a mention and seeing the fly being used on the channel.
      Yours sincerely
      Lewis.

    Anledningen till att jag vill vinna denna otroligt vackra fluga är just pga att den är så otroligt bra gjord och ser helt grym ut, jag skulle absolut använda den till fisket efter gädda och gäddorna här i Karlstad skulle få se upp när den används! :)

    • @ZugBug27
      @ZugBug27 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Murilo Tadeu Ferreira : you are a better man than I! :-) ... I lived in Brasil for a year, in Rio Claro, about 2 hour drive northwest from S.P. ... I moved after sending a shipping container full of all that I owned including a lot of fishing equipment, fly and spinning, but I was so physically overwhelmed by the heat and humidity that I never seriously considered going fishing ... I would have loved to catch some tucanare, but the heat and humidity where they are found is even worse than where I lived and would have put me into a hospital! ... I like and respect the Brasilian people very much, and I hope that the upcoming elections result in a more honest and humane and responsive government FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE ... for just being a Brasiliero and for having survived life in Brasil, YOU deserve to win! Good luck!

    • @MuriloGamesChannel
      @MuriloGamesChannel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ZugBug27 Thanks for the kind words man! What if I tell you that I live in a city just beside Rio Claro, named Araras.
      I don't know where you from but if you are from Sweden, you would have suffered by going to the northern part fish for tucunare, the heat, humidity and the mosquitoes are the worst part.
      The nature, the big cities and the culture here are magnificent but the politicians are the very worst part. Unfortunately they just think about their own money and how they can catch some more, in times like this the only thing that people can do is keep working and be honest, after all the good relationship between the citizens is the key for a brighter future, is that what I hope.
      Thanks again, let's see with I can win this awesome fly by Andreas :)

    • @ZugBug27
      @ZugBug27 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Murilo Tadeu Ferreira : tudo bem? :-) ... I lived in Rio Claro in 2004-2005 with my Brasiliera wife ... I have FRIENDS who live in Araras and I have been to your town to have dinner with them ... their names are Walter and Yarra (spelling?) ... he works in the sugar cane industry and they have three sweet, beautiful and intelligent daughters, all of whom are in college I believe ... I remember attending a kind of "faire" out in the countryside near (I think) Araras, with booths offering food and beer and handmade items for sale ... it was very, very hot and humid (even though it was at night), but that is where I had my first "traditional" Brasilian hot dog = two grilled hot dogs on a fresh bolinho, with ketchup, mustard, crushed potato chips, corn and (I think) peas ... very different but very good ... :-) ... I live in Mountain View, California, down the street from Google, and the weather here will truly spoil you for anywhere else ... no, I am not actually from Sweden, in a way ... I am actually half Swedish and half Scottish, so I am a "blanco grande" with small pores that don't function very well as a cooling mechanism = I sweat just thinking about hot and humid weather ... I don't miss the mosquitoes or the borrachuda (spelling?), but damn I miss coixinha e churrasco e pastels e Brasilian pizza (the BEST I've ever had), but I have the most saudade for picanha because it doesn't exist :-( in the U.S. because we cut our beef differently ... but seriously, I truly miss the people the most, the Brasilians who are creative and fun and inventive and generous and kind, and if given the opportunity, can become very well educated to the point that many of the companies in and around "Silicon Valley" have become aware of the great number of highly qualified computer science professionals that Brasil has to offer to our rapidly expanding high technology workforce ... I also miss hearing the language since my Brasiliera wife and I are no longer together ... Brasilian Portuguese is the most beautiful language that my ears have ever heard ... but the government at all levels is just bad - I remember when the mayor of Rio Claro lost his bid for re-election and then STOLE all of the computers from the city govenment offices as he emptied out his own office after losing - BUT the newly elected officials and local judges didn't do anything to him because they too were corrupt ... I remember seeing the "gypsies" as they were called, on the streets in Rio Claro, begging for $ that probably went straight for food, but they were mostly ignored by the people on the street ... most Americans who are begging on our streets use their money for alcohol and/or drugs because the government and churches and charitable organizations combine to make sure that there is always food for the hungry ...

    Does it matter what quality of deer hair or where on the animal you get the hair to spin? I have a regular ‘ol buck tail I got last year from a hunt and it splays out when I pull tight but nothing as full as yours. I’ve tried hair from the tip, mid and bottom section. The middle splays a little better but I can’t get a good full look like you have there.

    • @mattfleming86
      @mattfleming86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deer body hair, preferably deer BELLY hair, is the only suitable deer hair for these spun deer hair patterns. Save the bucktail for the baitfish patterns, as that's something belly hair can't do.
