Man when I saw it hit the tree I literally gasped that is a beautiful thing and it has lived up to its name from seeing you test and review it I’m definitely getting me that one right there
I must say, it was very impressive for a United Cutlery product. I've kept away from 3Cr/7Cr, & the like, but they may be worth a second look, if they're made as well as this. Outstanding, 😎👍👍
I have the Bloodwood Edition of this knife coming Thursday. Can’t wait! My 3rd Bowie knife purchase since subbing a little over a week ago. You’re killing me Donnie! 😂
I have the Legionnaire Bowie from Expendables 2 coming this week and I'm sure I won't let it sit too long before I put it on video. So prepare to be killed a little more. Haha
Hi mate. I collect knives and was indecisive about this one for ages. I was in love with the aesthetics but could never find a good video on functionality, I did however gamble last year and sods law a video like yours is pops up after!! Mine is an official one like yours but the very, very small point of the tip is slightly bent over, I was quite pissed off but I'm having it sharpened out next week, so it's all fine. I think seeing the more practical side of a knife in a review could really help sway somebody's decision to buy, so keep up the good work 👍
Thanks bro. I feel that doing a table top video where you simply show what it looks like on a dining room table, tells nothing about what it is as a knife, rather than a wall hanger. I like to put the knives through just what I believe they can take and nothing more. It's a great knife when you master the meat of the edge with a high grip to the guard.
Donnie B All Day Yeah, you mentioned the way you're holding it and I did in fact debate in my head if this 'safety' type grip made the knife a win or fail to me?? But you've kinda got that better stability of such a big blade, I just want the knives I add to my collection to be functional even if I'm not using them, at the back of my mind I think it's something to do with a 'just in case zombie shit goes off' style of scenario! 😆 Its a hefty piece though I don't think anyone truly realises until they actually hold one, it's the biggest in my collection and it's gorgeous!! It's a great peace of mind after watching your video. Nice work man, keep it up.
Gavinda jya jya the grip on a Bowie the size of an elephant tusk takes some playing with to get right. Due to the tang shape and handle material on this one, choking up on it your best bet, same as Cold Steels Natchez Bowie. Swinging from the end promotes more speed, but the stress of the impact is carried through the tang and the tip. Choking up puts all the stress in the center of the blade. For zombies, hold that thing at the end and swing away, but for fighting a bear, I say choke up, kill it, then go change your pants. Hahaha!
You know that bowie and the other one the Gil made with the rosewood handle is starting to grow on me. I was not usually a Musso bowie fan because of the brass spine guards can pop off but when you came out with your Big Jim Bowie, it made me like that design of bowie a lot more and hopefully one day, I might buy one of these knives.
@@DonnieBAllDay They sure are cool wicked big blades I'd tell you. People in the old west times were probably get scared getting stabbed or cut up with one of these bowies.
Would you say it is fully functional, durable and usable? Or more of a wall hanger? I've been considering buying it but have seen a lot of conflicting reports.
Its a usable knife for light work or self defense. If you aren't chopping logs and hammering on it, it can be good. If you hike with it in case of animal attacks, it can easily Pierce through hide
There are better options for real users, but for those who want one and not just for display, it has its place. For hard-core use, look up dbad Big Jim Bowie
Its a fun piece. If you can wait a bit, my Musso Bowie, the dbad Bowies Revenge will go into production. You can see the design in my viewers choice video.
Wow thats a knife. I wish you have your own version of IRON MISTRESS BOWIE. I know you will make it better from the original. The nepalese Masters will nail it. Cant wait for that 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
It was out long before the movie was even a thought. It was always sold with wood grip. The only thing different from the original was grip material and color. Same size, same shape on an already well selling blade.
Phil it is. I messed that part up. It's a full tang but not a "true" full tang. I don't set up and prepare my video dialog. I'm straight off the cuff. Makes me screw up some, but keeps it authentic. I never know what knife I'm going to review until I pull one from my collection or I get a request. Good catch.
Okay, I wanted to know cuz I'm actually collecting Rambo knives and when I'll be done, I might consider getting my hands on the expandables collection! :P The more infos, the best it is !
@@ThatBeardedWhiteGuy you have good taste. This thing is awesome. I actually did a video on the entire Rambo collection and a couple videos of random usage.
well, I'm a fan of Sly since I'm a child, was about time I decided to get myself some blades ! :D The Rambo 3 bowie is so fucking huge, I used it to cut some ham for macaroni and cheese and my brother couldn't stop laughing, it's like using a shotgun to kill a fly lol, gonna check your Rambo videos tho !
Hey brother just ordered one from budk. 99.89$ dam thing won’t ship until the 14th but alest I have one coming. Awesome video brother stay safe and stay sharp.
But, can ya throw it? WOW!!!! I guess you can! You the MAN ! If the plastic breaks, some elk antler will fill up the space... Jim Bowie couldnt have thrown it better!
Wasn't going to buy a wall hanger, but after your review I kept looking at them, then my wife was ordering on Amazon and found it for sale for 59.00 dollars, so I ordered it. What a knife. No lose guard no bent blade. Everything was perfect. So thanks for the great review. So how is your bunny rabbit? Hope he is still kicking. Don,Donnie from Commiefornia.
I guess it depends what you're looking to do with it. If I was going to make firewood in refine some kindling I would want something that wasn't double edged. But strictly as a fighting knife the stiletto blade is the best
@@DonnieBAllDay i like the toothpick mostly because its a bulkier blade, so you can put a little more abuse into the use without worrying about the blade damaging
@@kevinmorrice If the blade is made right, it doesn't matter what shape it is. Pound for pound, I'd much rather a drop tip. More meat at the tip than a toothpick style blade.
What a massive shame. Why make such an awesome blade as a wall hanger instead of for practical use with a full tang. Huge waste. I'd buy if it was full tang. Clearly chops through wood like a mofo, but you know full well it'll break at the hilt, you can already hear it rattling, even before your tests.
