I could see the disaster brewing as soon as you said "sort of averaged everything". 😂🤣😂🤣 Banking is science.... you need accurate measurement for baking.... Now I'll watch it unfold 😉
Michael Aramis - one can experiment quite a lot with cooking but baking depends entirely on the chemistry and therefore NEEDS accurate measures to drive the chemical reactions that make it all work.
Arwah Sapi - I honestly think that cooking (as opposed to baking) is an art. Recipes work well but if you wander off them in normal cooking things generally work out fine. Experimentation quite often works out to give nice surprises. With baking, you NEED to know how flour will rise with yeast, what proportions of one ingredient will meld with another. Then you can experiment.
I know, right? :D but Jake is Jake 0:38 . And I am honestly in love with his IT skills... I would cook for him pancakes or even HOME-MADE pasta, just to see his fingers IN ACTION
What I can conclude from this video is that more Cooking with Jake is required. Would be awesome to see a year of cooking in 2020, with a progression from Beginner Jake, to 7 course degustaion chef Jake by the end of the year :)
Urgh I was just yelling at the screen for him to continue kneeding with his hands and stop adding more milk, more flour etc... You barely mixed it Jake! Also if you twist your "cookie cutter" side to side once you've pushed it firmly down it helps break the cut piece from the dough fully so you can separate them easier :) The end result did look good though!
Jake, you stopped kneading the 'sticky mess' about 5 minutes too early. If you'd kept going, the dough forms a non-sticky ball as the dough matures through the kneading process. In the end, they didn't look bad at all. They could have used a minute less in the oven, due to your ending up with a bit less moisture going in. There are vids here on YT showing how it's done. You should have watched them a few more times, to be prepared for the inevitable challenges a new baker faces. Too much cream there at the end, but all in all, you did well. And thanks for the video. Well edited and well done. You're still awesome. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you.
You did pretty well considering that you approached baking with the same techniques you’d use to write code. This is not how to approach baking, since it’s chemistry. Next time find a single recipe and follow it to the letter. You cannot approximate chemistry. And next time skip the “easy” instant cookies. 👍
I think your parents would be very proud of you......and your followers are too......keep it up.... and a lot of us are using your video and making the dishes
I always enjoy your kitchen videos! Despite past efforts, you still try. I'm thinking your work team hasn't watched your previous cooking videos, or they would have allowed you to bow out. Remember the food poisoning incident?
Jake I beg you to plz make one of those new 12 minute videos for c or python 😫 I really miss those videos as they were the one that actually taught me something plz plz plz plz plz plz make one
Should have followed the recipe to the T but I can understand your thinking there wasn't enough liquid. Or, how about this recipe: add a little milk mixture, have some Bombay, add a little more milk, then a dram o Hendricks, Sevilla, then who cares about scones? Cream or jam mashed up? My goodness, we won't be taking you to Fortnum & Mason anytime soon...
Jake, DO NOT WORRY, please! I have the perfect recipe for whatever you feel like. Tell me what you want and I'll show you what I have! I make some cookies/pasta/EVEN home-made PIZZA, you just share your codes, deal?
You make us smile when you smile. Keep smiling.

Jim Deane i get bad looks when i say that i cook with measures....
its nice to find someone that thinks the same jaja

Jim Deane understood now :) thanks
It IS a science, that's why I hate baking and cooking

I honestly love your cooking/baking videos so much. You absolutely should do more! xx
This was a train wreck from start to finish but I enjoyed it nevertheless. 😂

Best gift for you: a cooking class to expand that. There is potential!
Somehow every one of your videos manages to make me happy.
The scones didn't look too bad at all.

Honestly i was screaming at the screen to just twist the glass everytime he pressed it firmly and waited a second ahahaah
These videos stress me out so much 😩😂
i have the same feeling!
Super video. Well done.
I had to make scones at school but I've totally forgotten how we did it.

Simon Archer you hit the nail on the head. As a side note, I don’t remember him putting the baking powder in them.
Hermione Weasley, thanks. The baking powder went in after the flour at 2:52.
Every time he said "that's close enough" or approximated something I flinched
Good effort Jake ;)... From one Chef to another 😂😂.. Love your videos matey.. especially your travel vlogs. Where are you travelling next?! 😉
I think your parents would be very proud of you......and your followers are too......keep it up....

"It just doesn't really look like other peoples' on the internet" -- Jake Wright, 2019 (or possibly 2018 because he records so long in advance hehe)
Which one should I put first: jam or cream?
A measuring tablespoon is quite a bit bigger than a regular dining spoon

Can you immagine that Jake actually used a flour sifter 2:40 ? Do you use THAT?!
Love it, how do you do with the judges?
I always enjoy your kitchen videos! Despite past efforts, you still try. I'm thinking your work team hasn't watched your previous cooking videos, or they would have allowed you to bow out. Remember the food poisoning incident?

It feels my heart with such joy that you're not great at cooking or baking and I feel horrible about that.
You're not trying to murder your colleagues with baked goods, are you?
Oh no
Jake, DO NOT WORRY, please! I have the perfect recipe for whatever you feel like. Tell me what you want and I'll show you what I have!

You are the terrible chef :D . Am not gonna learn how to cook from you, that's for sure :D
Maybe just don't eat that...
Nice try
