Good that someone has finally said it about the degree and no degree issue because I was attacked on this platform for telling the truth. I will repeat , a certification can get you an IT job but don't go around rubbishing people with a degree , it still needed by over 80% employers out there.

As l once posted on this channel on another video..nothing beats having a degree...my own brother was a self taught no degree IT guy..he got some IT certifications ...He was just working at some low level joints..it was when he went to varsity and got a 1st class degree in BSc Comp Science, that's when he landed a contract based job with one of the Fortune 500 companies in Europe, l wont mention its name for security reasons, ...from there the sky was the limit..he now holds an MSc in Comp Science specialising in Machine learning...guys go to varsity and get that degree if you can...you loose nothing..

@@liferesetwithboni "guys go to varsity and get that degree IF YOU CAN...you loose nothing..".....that's the point you missed....thing is the inability to go to university doesn't invalidates going to university and the opposite is true. Without a degree you can be self taught, do certifications, and get that job locally, its all good, but if you want to scale it up go to varsity IF YOU CAN...A DEGREE is beneficial especially across borders, getting job visas in countries like Australia, UK, Canada..you definitely need a degree, according to their critical list professions terms and conditions..a degree is a global standard...

He doesn’t actually know what he’s talking about regarding payslips and salaries.
    1. They need the payslip because businesses want to pay the lowest possible price for everything. That’s how they increase profit margins. Even if the price of bread is supposed to be R20, no company would refuse an opportunity to get a loaf for R18.
    2. Starting at a new company is not an increase, it’s a new role. A lot of people still manage to pull off 50-60% increases by either not providing a payslip or providing a fake one.
    3. Recruiters don’t get you a higher offer. They get paid per successful placement so they are less likely to “fight” for you because they’re competing with other recruiters and need to get the placement asap

  • @moniza0

So petty though. Guys who learn through certifications and self study are far better . The It industry is the fastest growing regarding tech but remain in the 1800s when it comes to recruitment. I know so many people good with IT and didn’t go to some money sucking university .these recruiters and hiring managers in companies must catch a wake up. This is 2024!!!! Not 1600s

I meant they are better in terms of being in touch with REALITY and the practicalities of real workplace solutions . University teaches them outdated stuff and for years! Whereas certifications can do in far least time and money. Also the reality of our country is that most people can’t afford this business called “university” yet they have so much potential. Hiring managers is stuck in the 1600s and must get their heads out the gutter otherwise they’ll miss many gems💎 who can think out the box and actually do the work instead of just hiring “yes sir no sir 3 bags full” mediocre workers.
