  • This is the introduction to Edward Said's famous text 'Orientalism' in this introduction Said explains his motivations for his writing, and explains the concept of orientalism as he perceives it, mentioning several thinkers from a range of disciplines, Said highlights how topics like power, race, domination, colonialism and language have change the way in which we perceive the 'orient' and the 'occident'
Sorry if this audio reading is not as good as others I have previously produced, recording process was difficult, and at the moment i have no help in terms of video and audio editing. As a result of these things there will be mispronounced names, stutters and breakages in my reading of the text, and for this i apologise. hopefully one day I can go back and re-record this video with not only better audio quality, but also with better pronunciation and edits to make the whole thing clearer.
All that being said I sincerely hope you enjoy the video, and, if you do, be sure to leave a like, and subscribe if you want to hear more.

Thaank you so much for reading it. For my small brain it was difficult to read and understand it together. Though it still is difficult for me to understand but the read along made it so much easier for me. It has so many references to so many works and concepts that I've never heard before.

Definitely enjoyed this - it enabled me to reflect on Said's theories whilst I was carrying out other research. Thanks so much for taking this task on! :)

Thank you so much for this! I tried listening to the audible version, but the narrator was a bit droning. Your one is great, cheers xx

Hi, are you Vietnamese? Would you like to consider talking about Vietnamese writers such as Nguyen Tuan, Vu Trong Phung, Ho Xuan Huong, Nguyen Du, etc.?
Thanks for your uploads nhé :)

Thanks so much for this! You really saved me, as I need to read this for uni but I just couldn't get through it :(
As well for your pronunciation of "Die Arabischen Studien in Europa bis in den Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts" or: die (as in the English pronunciation) arbenschweiger in Europa bis in den anfang TWENTY jach/gh hundert hahahaha
I'm just joking but thanks! I was losing focus and this made me laugh so hard I could concentrate again haha
