@@mexicanmuslim I don't think he did it to avoid it, more like it was his escape, cause as he puts it, he can do whatever he wants and create whatever kind of world in his paintings. Sort of a way to vent, or to be in his own little world he controls and forget about the troubles of reality. Its what any hobby does, but you can see that this was more significant than a hobby.

This episode had me teary-eyed. Not sure why this one in particular, I just think it had to do with what he said about the planet and his advice for succeeding in business. It made me realize just how much I wish he was still alive today.

Around 24:00 he mentioned he was having a hard time, which season did his wife die? I know in one episode he said "It takes dark to show the light. Like right now, there's a lot of dark in my life." Talking about his wife dying.
The shit didn't really hit the fan for him, as they say, until a bit later than this time. He was only around for about two years after she left in '93 and it was sometime in the early '90s that he got the lymphoma diagnosis so it could have been either of those. Season 31 (the last) ended in '94.

When I make a lot of money I will paint along. Oil based colour is expensive for me :( I can't compensate it with water colour :(

Man, this man gives me life. People try to tell you his secrets to change opinion, but nothing could make this artist bad. The positivity is something I wish I could accomplish. When I was experiencing hard times a long time ago, mainly with the fear of sleep and a lot of insomnia, my therapist recommended Bob Ross. At first I thought it was some Netflix comedy, but oh was I wrong. Every happy little cloud is just one bristle of Bob Rosses brush of the sky.
Bob Ross's soothing voice alone can help people who have Depression and Anxiety.
If 40 year old Bob Ross sounds so darn calming then wouldn't 90 year old Bob just instantly make you fall asleep.
Bob ross was my uncle. He was just as amazing in person as he was on television. I remember the exact day when he visited our house with his little squirrel friend and told me that he got his own TV show. At first I didn't believe him, but I was completely amazed when I first saw him on TV. R.I.P uncle bob, you painted happy little trees in the hearts of Americans everywhere!

I think the whole understanding of ASMR has become somewhat distorted to embrace ANYTHING soothing. "Soothing" sounds don't necessarily have anything to do with "tingles." You might say all ASMR videos are soothing, but the mistake is that not all soothing videos are ASMR. If I hear a soothing announcer's voice of a golf tournament on TV is this ASMR?
I feel the use of the term has gone beyond what it really means, especially by most who make the videos.

my grammie started a painting of a photograph my brother took a few years ago. she never got to finish it before she passed away.. so she asked me to finish it. I never used oils before. it sucks not having her here to answer questions about techniques. but Bob came up on my reccomend a few weeks ago and I really felt like my grammie sent him to me.

There’s a character in this game called Smite called Sylvanus- God of Nature in Roman Mythology. This character got a special skin where he is Bob Ross. He throws paintballs at you for basics attack’s and his one ability plants a “happy little tree” where it’s actually a smiling tree that gives you and your teammates energy and mana. I can now see why they gave this character a Bob Ross skin because of his genuine kindness and attitude to save all living things. Huge nerd moment right now.
God blessed us with the presence of Bob Ross so that when he went to heaven, we’d know who’s helping to paint those beautiful sunsets
