    Another great video with Josh showing how he is in line with the local law. They should never tell anyone how or wear to put their stuff. All they need to do is inspect it so it meats county law were as the construction of the sewer is concerned. It looks real nice Josh and I have enjoyed all 3 videos. Everyone should buy from your local farmers to support them. They need to be able to support themselves instead of any government help. We are proud of Josh as he works hard to turn out enough money to feed his animals 1st then himself. Support your local and veteran ran business.

      Gotcha, that's nice. The couple I've done here on the farm and in the forest in Oregon, they approve the top 24"-30" of soil for disposal and they are very concerned about any soil that has been disturbed/compacted or has had roots removed and what not. All I can say is, I love what you've done with your patch of land and the timber framing is looking great.

Oh, and don't forget to pay them Tribute every 30 days. Don't even think about building secondary structures that would allow sleeping, Plumbing electrical or water on your property. 2 acres? So about $2500.00 an acre to clear. Same here in NE Texas. Newbie land owners get shocked by that. They will buy land with junk timber on it thinking that they can clear it for $500.00 an acre. So, they pay $1500.00 an acre get the quote of $2500.00 an acre to clear it and usually leave the junk timber standing till they sell at a future date. Improved pasture sells for 4 to $5000.00 an acre in my area. Now we know why....

  • @JCWren
    @JCWren 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I wasn't going to mention this from the last video, but since you brought it up again... I felt that the title of part 2 was a little disingenuous. You can't (and never have been able to) put a drain field in disturbed soil. The reason is pretty simple, and has to do ground water contamination and percolation to the surface. The whole point of the undisturbed soil is that the waste water filters through the hard soil. If it's put in disturbed soil, the unfiltered waste can percolate to the surface, it can run off into nearby streams or storm water drainage paths, and it can cause the soil to collapse into hard pack. Most of this paraphrased or condensed from what a buddy of mine who installs septic systems says. There are ways to get around this, but it's expensive and involves pre-filtering through media tanks. And the county didn't MAKE you put a bathroom in the building. You chose to do that, and by extension, became constrained by the building codes, just list the ones that are designed to prevent shoddy building construction killing people.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      correct me if I'm wrong....but in order to install a septic system...ya gotta dig up the soil and put in gravel my friend.....I agree....a code on the septic is best....but I also don't agree with the assessment of the soil from the county...the guy that did the perk test literally told me "you've had cows in here, it's compacted the soil" then went over and dug his hole in the compacted tire tread mark from the skidder a couple years back...and said it was less compacted....he was in the most compacted soil on the farm! lol
