And even that, barely any of ur points make sense. Strikers battle league is based mostly on skill. U don’t need to rely on some stupid hazards for the opponent just to gain possession and then concede free goals. And who the heck cares about some camera angles? However I do agree with u on the creativity of the stages and the music. But other than that, u just trollin bro. Yeah this game has some things that I personally hate but no game is perfect.
@@MikeMills8612 evidently thousands of people if the game got such terrible reviews. Who says criticism isn’t allowed? And games I like? This is a sequel to my favorite game of course I’m gonna at least play this and review it Also nice username
What is sad is if they had just made Mario Strikers Charged DELUXE with Rosalina, Pauline, and Boom Boom as the only additions, it would have been a far better experience then what we got with this 15 year awaited sequel. It actually makes me hope they don't try reviving Sluggers after seeing how the sports spin offs have been done this generation.
I remember a few weeks before this trash was announced I was like imagine if they make Mario Strikers Charged Deluxe with new fields and captains and sidekicks
This seems like a problem with all of Nintendo's recent sports/multiplayer games. A shallow, broken skeleton with it's missing bones given back over time. Except they're _still_ incomplete after the final update. And it's so much worse here, the fact that in Nintendo's eyes, Strikers should be treated the same as Tennis Aces or Golf Super Rush, is just depressing. This is never changing unless there's a huge shake-up at Nintendo. Maybe that'll happen with their next console, but who knows
@agent beta Sorry but no. As someone who has completed and won the Striker Cuo more times than I can count in my own two hands, I can assure you that Battle League is absolutely disgraceful. This is an embarrassment of a sequel.
Out of all Nintendo's "release it now, finish it later" games, I easily despise Battle League the absolute most. Going from Charged to this is like being hit with a truck and struck by lightning. It's beyond depressing. And compared to Aces and Super Rush, the post-launch content here has been awful, it's still pretty much the same game from launch with more characters and lifeless stadiums. I got blasted for comparing this game to Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. But unfortunately, I was right in my assumptions. Compare both games from reveal to launch and they share almost the exact same problems. These updates did NOTHING to fix the core problem with this game! I hate Super Rush, it's foundation was flawed with gameplay that was dumbed down, most of the courses being generic with nothing to do with Mario, having a boring tutorial as the "story mode", and the featured Speed Golf mode literally being walking to the ball. Battle League had the foundation to be a good game, it's just Nintendo didn't care about delivering a quality product and like Super Rush, literally just abandoned it. But I think I loathe Battle League more, simply because it could've been a great game. And I honestly hope they don't bring back Mario Sluggers, or make another Mario Strikers game. Let them stay dead, because sometimes dead is better. Or just remake Mario Strikers Charged. This game has cemented my belief that Mario Sports games will probably never return to the quality and greatness of the GameCube and Wii titles.
The people at next level games are incredibly talented, especially in animation. It’s so frustrating to see their talent wasted because nintendo set this game up for failure.
They were too focused on making this game competitive forgetting that this is a Mario Game. Once again clearly had a Golden Age in the 2000s since every game is a remake or inferior sequel
Even rosa can be barely considered "new" because shes in every single mario spinoff game. The only reason shes "new" in strikers game is because the last strikers game came out so long ago rosalina didnt even exist back then.
@@Marko-ij4vy Except for people living in South Korea, where Mario Strikers Charged (release date: March 18th, 2010) came out AFTER Super Mario Galaxy (release date: September 4th, 2008). (And yes, I actually went out of my way to look it up just because)
@@Goomba1309 That doesnt matter that it came out later in other countries beause its the same game regardless and it was developed before rosalina existed.
I honestly feel bad for battle league. Mainly because it could've been so much fun if given the time & care it needed. But sadly, even strikers has been struck with nintendo's trend of "release now, finish later" mess, & not given the freedom of creation they once had just like the previous 2. Makes me worried about the future of not just strikers, but mario sports games as a whole
_But sadly, even strikers has been struck with nintendo's trend of "release now, finish later" mess, & not given the freedom of creation they once had just like the previous 2._ One question on that. Do we really know the situation? It may be likely that Nintendo rushed it, but it's also likely that Next Level Games had a bad staff for this game. If there's really good evidence, I'd love to see it.
@@CarloNassar yeah, that reminds me of Nintendo switch sports which according to some internal sources was developed by a team of newbies since 2018, it had plans to release earlier but covid happened delayed the game even more, also that the booster course pass from mario kart 8 deluxe was made by a completely different development team at nintendo hence why the tracks of the first wave looked flat and straight up from tour, fortunately the development team had been hearing the complaints and got better at making the tracks more unique and gradually separating from tour's track design to the point of adding new tracks.
Another similar instance was the reason we didn't got Galaxy 2 in the Mario 3D all stars collection, according to an interview with team members at NERD (Nintendo European Research and Development) the game started Production around early to late 2019 so they had to develop the N64, Gamecube and Wii emulators around that time and they planned to add galaxy 2 to the rom sadly due to time constraints and colvid 19 happenning they couldn't add it on time.
@@CarloNassar Would you rather the game suffer from Metroid Prime 4 disorder, that it takes an eternity for a great game to come out???? The other theory is the game is targeting at newcomers, that just want to play casual??? Only TH-camrs can spot the differences between the original and the new game.
I wish I was around when it released to play it online. I played it for the first time ever in like 2016 or something and had a blast. Best sports game I ever played. That game has so much personality.
I’ve been wanting a new Mario Baseball for years but at this point I should just accept that the two amazing games we have are enough and know that if we get a new game it’ll be absolutely terrible. Of course Nintendo fans will be lining up to defend the next shitty, unfinished Mario spin off though… they never learn.
Even though I usually prefer to get sequels to games than ports, I would much rather have a port of strikers charged with new content than a sequel that looks like a downgrade in a lot of areas.
Ngl this game disappointed me so much like I knew Nintendo was gonna do something weird with this game as soon as it got announced but man this game has no content AT ALL, i really wish Nintendo would stop with the “free update” stuff because it only works for splatoon and that it, I don’t even want a new Mario baseball game now if they keep doing this…
As a huge strikers fan, this game is a serious letdown, and the fact that people are defending it saddens me. People can enjoy what they want to enjoy, but I don't respect defending Nintendo's current mediocrity.
I enjoy this game and really love it, but even I know it's major flaws and Nintendo NEEDS to be called out for it. You can like it, but you don't have to defend it. I'm sorry you came across people like that, even I get disgusted with what people say
Yeah if so many people are willing to defend this game imagine if one of the first 2 games came out today they’d be hailed as the best games ever made lol
This game took no inspiration from other strikers games whatsoever and I would love to like this game but It's hard when theirs less content, Half ass roster, Club mode begin absolute shit and that was main reason I bought this game is to play club mode with my friends. But I learned that it's up to 2 players for club mode and find it really disappointing! Nintendo false advertise this game for its club mode. Standard online is fine with me but..... WHERE IS RANK MODE!? Cmon you can't have good sports game without rank mode! Mario golf superrush has rank mode (Rank mode is terrible anyways) but why not strikers!? I need to get club mode off my chest because I was sooo disappointed! This ain't no mario strikers battle league, This is Mario FIFA!
I'm so sorry my friend, Nintendo pulled a Sega with false advertisement 😞. I hope we all can move from this and show Nintendo that actions have REAL consequences
Even without extra content I can think of so many options that are still missing (that were in charged) that could still make this game more interesting and add more replay value. For the record charged had this challenge mode that unlocked more of the options. They were called "cheats" but they werent really cheats, they were basically just extra options that you had to unlock. There was "classic mode" which was basically no megastrikes or special shots, power shortage(you wouldnt get electrified when pushed to the fence), high voltage(electric fences are stronger), custom items, infinite powerups(you automatically get items every few seconds), white ball(the ball is always fully charged) and few more. Knowing these options were in charged I would add these options to battle league that you could toggle on/off: - custom items(very obvious choice) where you can turn on/off specific items - power shortage/high voltage (same as in charged where you dont get electified when pushed to the fence or the fence is stronger) - every shot is always perfect shot (this would basically be equivalent to white ball option from charged where the ball was always fully charged while here every shot would always be perfect shot) - every pass is always perfect pass (same concept as above) - hyperstrikers are alway turned on and you can use them anytime - only captain can use hyperstrike - no slowdown during hyperstrike charging - no visible arrows while charging tackles(the tackles would still work the same but the arrow wouldnt be visible) - frequency of how often item boxes appear(low, medium high). Not the ones that you get after being tackled without ball but the ones that randomly appear - frequency of how often hyperstrike orb appears(low, medium high) These options alone would give it a lot more gameplay variety even with the lacking content but even these basic options (and quality of life options for that matter) are missing in this game.
@@sistakastet Those are options that could be toggled on/off so hyperstrike turned off would be still there. It would simply be an extra option where you could either have no hyperstrike, hyperstrikers always or only when you grab the orb.
Nintendo just doesn't make them like they used to and its a big shame really. I miss the iwata days and just find it amusing how a Wii game made YEARS ago is more fun and has more content then a switch title.
As someone who does indeed like this game, it pains me the game didn't live up to its potential. I can tell Next Level Games for sure had a vision for this game but it being a part of the free update model along with being in development around Covid really hurt a lot of things about it. I wouldn't really call the game horrible, even objectively, and there are things I do disagree with this video (Like it being soulless or the animations forgetting what made Strikers the way it is), but I completely understand the disappointment from many people The game did sell well at the end tho, and if there's anything I learned thing from this company, they do not give less of a damn about fan reaction. If they did then many series would've died with the Wii U, like Animal Crossing and Mario Tennis. I'm sure we'll get another Strikers game soon. How soon? Can't day, but I just hope it'll better
I think my original battle league video I properly stated how felt on the game, this video was more of s recap but basically these animations feel like the basic mario characters with just the slightest bit more eyebrows going down. But yeah lol that’s how I feel. I definitely can see how they will continue this based on sales alone, but I wish they would listen to us but seeing how this company works, I doubt it. Anyway, thanks for watching! Really enjoyed this comment
@@therealjaystone2344 Charged took 3-4 years to get to the 2.6 million milestone, nearly half of the sales come from it being apart of the Nintendo Selects. BL meanwhile got to 2.1 in just 5 months; we still need to see until the end of the financial year to see where BL ends up with. Either way I really doubt Nintendo cares since again, they got their money and the game hit right where they wanted
I think we'll get another one eventually because Nintendo realized there's a market for it and it's a cheap game to develop. Well, it shouldn't be cheap but it is because they're lazy af
This game feels like it was meant to be a digital eshop “Super Mario Soccer” and then someone at nintendo reminded them Strikers was a thing and they slapped the Strikers name to it
Kinda wild that the game that didn't even have a stage select screen at launch and only got a opening cutscene a year after its release is still better than Super Rush and especially Battle League...
The only time we'll get another Strikers game is if we get a port or a remake (and it'll probably be watered down). Also there are 20 character slots but only 16 characters, so the DLC was basically cut short. I would've kept playing this game if it had true 4v4 online with 8 human players, but it doesn't. This game is pretty much dead and I feel scammed even though I used a gift card.
The sad thing is is that all the Mario sports games this console generation have been lackluster, bare bones, and utterly inferior to previous entries (granted Ace was better than Mario Tennis on Wii U but not by too much). I miss the days when Mario Sports games were so fun. The GameCube and early Wii games. Toadstool Tour, Power Tennis, Strikers Charged, Super Sluggers
I found hazards unbearably annoying when playing Charged so I turned them off though I do agree with you having options to cater to different Players is always a good thing.
Personally I LOVED stage hazards, I grinded out the league mode and it made each match feel exciting. In a mode that was as difficult as that one (for me), it made the game plenty replayable and really helped me stay engaged For me, it was the glue that held the ranked mode together, if every game was the same I would've gotten bored
But seriously though. I’m as shocked as ever. Out of all the games that could POSSIBLY turn out to be bad, WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE FREAKING MARIO STRIKERS!?!?
It even got a lower Metacritic user score than freaking Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, and that one is widely considered one of the worst Mario Sports games... That's when you know they screwed up BIG TIME
Its sad that a game that came out in 2007 has more content and modes than a game that came out in 2022 and the fact that we had to rely on dlc is just terrible. This is a disgrace.
I will say, I had a lot of fun with Battle League. I have a weird love for it, but I guess it's because I own Charged so if I missed something from Charged I'll boot that game up, and if I'm feeling Battle League I'll play that. The gameplay for Battle League is really fun, granted not the best but I've had many laughs and good times with the game. I wish it could've been better, but there's no point dwelling on it. The ragdoll physics and ways I score in this game are the funniest moments I have had with this game, and awkwardly I've played over 95 hours of this game no joke
That’s great for sure, I can enjoy myself a bit when playing, but everytime I play I personally feel like I’m just playing a way worse charged. I definitely see what you mean though, at its core it’s fundamentally a good system
@agent beta are you just going around my comments looking for people who liked the game? There’s nothing wrong with that but you don’t have to keep replying to them with the same thing. And if you need to LOOK to find people who like this game that’s questionable.
@agent beta bombs are up to the player in both games..? Charged you need to time it and in battle league you need to aim it. Both rely on skill but you can easily dodge a bomb in both games you just need to run around it
Sometimes when I think of this game it makes me sad because of how fun Charged was and how I was so excited for it. Then it turns out to be the worst game I have ever played. I much rather play Sonic Forces
As someone who loved Charged and was really excited for this game, I stopped playing it after a week. I think if anything it comes down to the way the gameplay feels. The tackles needing to charge instead of being instant was way less satisfying and responsive, the lack of the ball gaining charge with passes meant that the game lacked a feeling of momentum. And the ball being juggled so much with the high pass made intercepts very annoying. The lack of captain items and offensive dodges made for characters playing less uniquely from each other and reducing variety in play style. So not only did they have a weak roster, they also standardized the playstyles. I loved Waluigi for his teleporting and his vine walls, but he has none of that in Battle League.
With how mediocre the sports games have been on the Switch and the rumors of another Mario Baseball game being in the works, I can’t wait to see 10 characters with Toads as the outfielders alongside 4 stadiums that all play and look the same.
this game could've been great. instead... this is the most barebones Mario Sports game on Switch. and to me, the toning down of their personality is what killed it. I said I wasn't gonna buy this game without Daisy, and when they eventually brought her in, all of her aggressiveness was gone.
Sis even straight-up CRIES if she gets a goal scored on... That's definitely not something Daisy, the tough-as-nails, rough-and-tumble tomboy princess of Sarasaland, would do
Ye this game was a missed opportunity. The stage idea would be cool be both had hazards or movements effects that you could mix and match. Not to mention so much lack of options.
You’d think they only made this game to shut Strikers fans up (also, this has still been why I lost trust in Nintendo, despite it trying to do stuff correctly)
Good video overall OreoGod and I agree with your points since I thought of them too. Its sad that one of my favorite sport series got screwed by the "Free DLC" method. I'm even afraid about a Baseball sequel as its going to have fields with only different colored grass and no diversity in the Mario/Donkey Kong characters like in Super Sluggers.
I have my own interpretation of what happened to battle league, after Nintendo bought next level games, the strikers series met the same fate as paper Mario, Luigi's mansion, if continued to be developed by next level games, will probably remain full of creativity, much like how Fire emblem has remained, while battle league gets it's soul ripped from it and never recovers, much like how paper Mario has been basically soulless for the past trio of games.
The past trio of Paper Mario? Surely you can’t be referring to Color Splash? Because that game is SO, SO GOOD!! Like one of the literal greatest games I’ve played in years! The people behind it definitely cared and it still amazes me, went so far beyond my expectations… even the story went deeper than I expected and no spoilers but I still feel bad for some of the characters. There’s probably still secrets I haven’t found, I have to replay it when I get the chance. A lot of people are quick to judge it simply over its battle system, but Super Paper Mario is literally an entirely different thing from the original two with no turn based battles and is widely accepted. Color Splash itself is really good, and very creative, if anyone even looked past stupid Sticker Star which is nearly nothing like it at all. Like what, Color Splash has a sort of similar battle system (but way better) and kept Thing items (also improved)? Yeah… that’s about it for similarities. Color Splash is also the only game where I actually had fun dealing with turn based battles. Usually I get bored or annoyed from them, but in Color Splash it was always entertaining. From everything I experienced from Color Splash (especially a scene or two that made me almost want to cry) it’s pretty much the opposite of “soulless”. Your comment sounds about right for Sticker Star though, which didn’t do much and, even though I liked it as just a 2D platformer when little, it had problems. It was confusing and I had to look up a lot of stuff. Felt pretty bland and, well, soulless. Once I played Color Splash, I never saw Sticker Star the same way. And I don’t know much about Origami King because I got too frustrated to go very far. I’m not good at it’s battle system. It’s not straightforward like in Color Splash and older Paper Marios, it’s puzzles under pressure I always struggle with. I guess it just wasn’t the sort of game for me. I’m more interested in continuing the original Paper Mario sometime.
For the guys that says battle league is better than the previous games are coping because they missed out on them so they say stuff just to sound good like my 11 year old cousin that was born early 2010s. All the developers had to do is look at strikers charged and made it bigger and better. The developers missed the point of what made mario strikers fun. Its supposed to be chaos and hazardous. If they do decide to make another one, all they have to do is look at strikers charged and establish on that. I was expecting mario strikers with more sidekicks, more captains, more hazardous stages possibly from other mario games, a little new items, possibly new animations. Thats it.
Here's what could made this game better than Charged okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little. Nintendo could have at least add hazards in arenas one half has a hazard and the other one has a different one unless it's the same side. I love it but disappointed I hate the Charged when I was little cause I didn't played properly. 😕
I miss the Mario Hoops game and it’s kinda-sequel in Mario Sports Mix but I don’t want a sequel if Nintendo handles it like they did with the new strikers game.
Thanks man! Made this back in junior year, currently a senior in high school and it’s nice to see my videos have improved a lot since this video, especially my voice lol I was so monotone in the beginning of this video
Wait I just realized this isn’t the battle league review video lol my mistake, meaning this video was made a couple months ago, sorry about that lol but thanks again for the comment!
I really think Nintendo has a problem of buying out companies. They make good games normally, but for ones made. By other developers, they get rid of lots of the stuff that makes it special. I'm still buying it though, being my very first strikers game
it urks me to have played this game on launch and feeling the emptiness of this sequel after being hyped that Strikers charged, a game I have put countless hour playing, was finally getting a sequel
when i saw the gear system in the trailer i was like "wtf" !? it makes the characters feel so chunky and sluggish and artificial when they move like that in such heavy gear. why would anyone add such a system ?! it compromises the core gameplay so much visually but they have stats so even in gameplay... its so stupid.
Honestly, this is just depressing, and an absolute gut punch. We've been waiting 15 years for a new Strikers, and we get this sorry excuse of a sequel? Even Metroid fans had it better, and they had to wait almost 2 decades for a Metroid Fusion sequel!
I have no idea why the pitch is always grass, even if they're worried about balancing, they didn't have to make each pitch different mechanically. Why can't the lava stage have rock or castle terrain, or a sandy place actually have sand?
The stadiums were extremely disappointing like why are we having a death match with electric fences at Universal Studios? Like why are we playing soccer in the Mario Kart line?
I really want them to do another Strikers game, but I want them to go back to their roots. Every character having a unique special item move in Strikers Charge was fun. Also like you said, hazards in Charged could be annoying, but it’s good to have options, and I feel like hazards are good for if your trying to unlock a character (this game doesn’t do that but a possible sequel should go back to having locked characters) to add more of a challenge. Also, I feel while having a choice of picking multiple main characters are great, having the henchmen characters like Boo and Monty Mole all with different abilities were great, and then they rock the logo of the main cast characters. Not only that, but I feel with the generic henchmen they can do more with animations and giving the captains more personality having them interact with them in a possible new game. Intro’s are another thing. It’s cool coming out with the squad but I miss having the cooler intros with each character having a theme song. Another thing is that Battle League really should’ve kept the dramatic slow motion whenever a character got hit really hard. Also the items in Charged were better like the ice mushroom and chain chomp. I love all the new characters in Strikers Battle League and it can be fun imo, but I wish they didn’t take so much away and really took time with this game.
Yeah I want all of the little things that made Mario strikers so impactful. Just like you said, the screen shaking and slo-mo when you make a huge shot and the sound design was fantastic in charged and now it’s almost all gone. You can tell they really didn’t care or have time to care about the little things this time
They NEED to bring the charged ball mechanic back. It was so satisfying to hear the sound of the ball be charged and even more satisfying when you kick the ball and the gameplay slows down to show the impact of the shot
Oh my! The original director (and probably some other staff members) left and now the game is different? It's almost as if the people behind the studio name matter more than the studio name itself. what a concept. Also, Nintendo corporate green lit this so they deserve a large chunk of blame here.
At this point I would trust the community to mod/work on our own sequel if they just make custom characters for charged it will be enough for me. Battle league felt it will disappoint the moment I saw it it lost all the charm
So many Nintendo fans think Nintendo is their friend. This is what happens when they have record breaking success. They release unfinished games just like all the other publishers they’re supposed to be better than
No individual dribblings or shots, no loop possible over the keeper anymore, no personality, no real singleplayer anymore.. pls just give us a remake instead next time, before you make something that halfassed.^^
nintendo should be ashamed. Cut content from over a decade ago, less personality, no stage differentiation. Id give the game post content 3/10. failure
I'll have you know Mario Strikers Battle League is one of the most video games to ever. Its has graphics and controls. The characters moved and the stages were there. The music made sound. I liked the part where Waluigi said "It's Waluigi time!" and Waluigied all over the field.
Just as I thought, people like me predicted right when this game will feature 16 characters, 8 stadiums and 8 gear in total for 2022. And like you said in this video, this game still fucking sucks. It still suffers from the same exact problems as you and people in the comments mentioned in the previous video.
2 years later and it's still the most hated game from the serie by his own community and to think that Nintendo with all the money it has could have released an excellent new Star Fox, F-Zero and Kid Icarus game, or even a remastered, well worked on the Switch but no and instead, they throw away the money down in the drain by giving us games that we have been keeping eating almost every year since 7 years between the good dozen Mario and Pokemon games, the 7 Zelda games, the 6 Kirby and Fire Emblem games despite some games are bad when we see the reaction of most of the people about Battle League or the Pokemon games from Gamefreak / Pokemon Company in addition to the port of an old popular Mario game to 60 dollars that 3/4 of people have already played before and avoid it like Luigi's Mansion 2 even though it only cost me 39 dollars on the 3DS during his first launch. So if this is how Nintendo intends to welcome us to the successor to the Nintendo Switch if they announce something about it for next year with many ports of old Mario games that 3/4 of the public have already played and a lot of favoritism towards the same cash grab licenses with some of them being bad quality and we put everything else far away in the closet, it's definitively not like that I would buy it unless they release a new Star Fox, Metroid, F-Zero, Kid Icarus or Smash Bros on it and then we can have a deal for I can buy it but the next year, if they release a new console, for me it will only be PC with Steam which will offer a more games with good quality, variety and innovative in addition with a free online unlike Nintendo who want to make their own community pay to play online for not much exceptional in their catalog of retro games from the Nintendo Switch Online despite that a large part of those who paid the online subscription are still waiting for the arrival of the GCN catalog for the Switch but I imagine that, unlike me who stayed offline for years without paying even once for the online subscription since the paid subscription was put in place for the online, people were completely fall in a sort of scam by Nintendo's online. If they would release the GCN games just for Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, Metroid Prime 2 and 3 and F-Zero GX or a new exclusive Metroid and Star Fox on the Switch with a online mode, I would definitively buy their online just for those but, due to the laziness from Nintendo, I'm glad to have save my money for several years so I can say I don't trust Nintendo anymore because, since I have open my eyes with them since few years ago, I always expect to be disappointing from them and rarely happy to what they give to us so I'm glad that when there are somes games that I don't feel it that I will just skip it so I'm glad to have skip Battle league due to a bad feeling. Plus I still play to the Wii Mario Striker and still enjoy it so skip this new game isn't a loss for me.
I was so close to buying this. Like ridiculously close. But after seeing videos of it and the lack of modes and after buying Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. I couldn't. It's ridiculous that games nowadays are releasing with LESS content than what came before it. I'm so tired of seeing it.
2:31 Heres the thing about hazards. In multiplayer I always prefer to play without hazards because yes they can be annoying and too rng. BUT it actually made the singleplayer more interesting because it felt like youre playing different levels with different obstacles. With no hazards every match is exactly same especially considering the AI always behaves the same. Imagine playing a singleplayer game where its just one same level but only with different backrounds. Thats exactly how battle league feels. But then again hazards in this game probably still wouldnt work because the fields are so damm small. Everything feels so crowded because you have no space to move and hazards would make it even worse. Why they had to shrink down the fields for no reason? The field size was perfect the way it was in previous stikers games. It was still significantly smaller then in real soccer which makes sense considering theres less players and its more fast paced but there was no reason to shrink them even more.
I just thought about your older video about battle league and here you are releasing another video on point again! And out of all the things this game is still missing even after updates (and I dont even mean content at this point but just basic quality of life features) they bring a freaking chat options no one cares about or asked for lmao. In terms of specific items we literally had "special" seasons when there were only bananas or bombs or shells. So it was already in the game yet we still cant use this option but dumb chat options are here great.
And yet I myself never in my life played Super Mario Strikers or Mario Strikers Charged and really Battle League literally ruined it for me.. I was all hyped for garbage video game with no new modes or any kind of jacksh*t…
Great video! You made a lot of great points and I enjoyed watching. Liked and Subscribed. 😎 The lack of content in Switch games like Nintendo Switch Sports and Animal Crossing New Horizons have left a bad taste in my mouth. I enjoyed both of those games but they feel incomplete when compared to previous games in their respective series. I've kept up with all things Nintendo Switch since Nintendo announced the console and I've seen that in quite a few games, specifically the Mario Sports games, they seem to be going with "release now and update later." I'm not a fan of this method because I would like a "complete" game at launch if I'm going to be paying $60. The variety of modes in the game seem very lackluster and I'm glad you brought up how people kept saying "they're gonna add new modes in updates!" 4:52 because I heard so many people say the same thing. Did the six(?) characters that released in these updates for strikers battle league *really* need to be released over the course of six months? I could "complain" about this all day but I have to ask: I have not owned a Mario Strikers game and I've only ever played a bit of it on the Wii years ago so I don't remember too much. Is it worth buying Mario Strikers Battle League on sale for $34.99 USD? I know there's some lame stuff with online mode but I'd only be buying it for local multiplayer.
Thanks for subscribing! I too am tired of Nintendos recent behavior. These all should have been here day 1 and much more. But for 35 that honestly is kinda worth it for the fun with friends, any game will be better with friends and at least strikers has that, although I’d definitely say the original and charged are way more fun
“Hazards make the game unfair” is such a dumb statement. For 15 years in the making, you’d think they’d have the idea to have a hazard toggle for the fields
Yeah mario tennis aces pretty much handles it this way. You can toggle them on and off but they are turned off by default when playing online against randoms. Mario strikers should have handled it the same way.
my biggest problem is still the ost my god its so generic, its just basic rock, they all sound the same what happened to the variety that was in charged
Yeah, this type of business practice really pisses me off. Giving a game the live service and it took this long for a 3rd update to come out. I thought the only reason why they took this long was maybe they would have more content for the update, but I was disappointed since they stayed with their typical 2 characters, 1 stage and some gears. Nintendo and Next Level could've done so much better. I will buy this game but no hell in a way I'm spending 60 dollars for this game. I still didn't buy Mario Golf Super Rush because I am waiting for that game to be on sell. This is really depressing when other games receive great treatment and Mario sports receive minimal treatment.
I completely agree with this entire video. All this game did was make me worry what could happen if they do this kind of stuff with F-Zero. Not only that, but this game is awful, and my least favorite game of all time.
Nah they would care to make fzero fun and have lots of content because it's been dead for over a decade Mario strikers on the other hand it's still a Mario game and they know it's going to sell on the IP alone
i was so hyped when i heard this game was coming out again. got so many memories of that game & i think it stuck with me because of how dark and gritty the game came across (talking about charged) i was just a little kid but still this one feels completely different. field feels to small like there’s no real room to move & just the gameplay itself doesn’t feel good, except for the perfect pass/ shot that’s pretty satisfying. game is an overall bummer tho
The controls are way too complex compared to mario strikers charged, makes it impossible to play with friends cause they have to learn what a million buttons do
Another thing i forgot to add previously, Mario's fire spiral is just the one from SSBU but less cool and satisfying, and he doesn't go super saiyan in this version! Disappointment on disappointment!😢 Where do you stand on this, Oreo?
I think this game could have been great after all of the DLC waves if they actually added stuff that would add more content to the game. But instead of that they've been giving us mainly extra characters, extra gear and more fields that are reskins of the exact same court. News Flash Nintendo: this doesn't equal more content. I'm so sad that the game had to turn out like this. I was so excited to see the Strikers series get another installment in at least 15 years but Nintendo tainted it with the infamous "starved of content" practice. I really hope they learn from this after the disastrous reviews on Metacritic but there's also a chance they won't. Good job, Nintendo. Way to go.
I wish this was a different story, Mario strikers battle league breaking the switch sports games curse but no, this was honestly one of the worst ones. And yeah none of this imo really counts as more content
You though the cup battles were easy. I literally was going to break my controller doing them because galatic mode is so unfair. Other people have also said that galatic mode is unfair. How much did you play this game to beat it easily.
For real man. I remember one time, when I was playing the Galactic Cups with a friend of mine. We were down to our last life, which meant that if we lost, we would be eliminated. We managed to score a Hyper Strike goal when we were down to the last few seconds, and we obviously celebrated because the match was really hard. Except this happened: from out of nowhere, another Strike Orb spawned, the CPU grabbed it, and they performed a perfect Hyper Strike (did I mention we were winning 2-1 when that happened?), and because of this, we lost the game and were eliminated. I swear we were about ready to go full on Poofesure on our controllers when that happened. They really threw us a bone, only to then yank our chains
I liked the Wastelands. If only because of the cheery music in the... post nuke drop site (?) and the lightning that functions differently from Stormship. Now the DUMP... THAT place sucks.
I don’t hear anyone talk about this but why is the whole soundtrack rock themed? I know it was in previous games but the music from charged was so good like Luigi’s theme Daisy’s theme and Koopa’s was so good and the song from Crystal Canyon and the Classroom were so good
It’s shit like this that makes me glad that Super Mario Sluggers never got a sequel nowadays. It was an amazing Mario Sports Game and it would be nice to see it make a resurgence.. but not as a sequel, at least not with how Nintendo is handling these Mario Sports games recently. They’ll just bastardize it and probably get rid of the whole “Chemistry” mechanic.

Bro u know what, just stop crying. If u don’t like the game, WHO CARES?! Stop being such a little troll and play games u like.

Yup & you're not wrong
This seems like a problem with all of Nintendo's recent sports/multiplayer games. A shallow, broken skeleton with it's missing bones given back over time. Except they're _still_ incomplete after the final update. And it's so much worse here, the fact that in Nintendo's eyes, Strikers should be treated the same as Tennis Aces or Golf Super Rush, is just depressing. This is never changing unless there's a huge shake-up at Nintendo. Maybe that'll happen with their next console, but who knows
Yeah I miss the old strikers that cared about itself so much more. This game just makes me really sad
@agent beta to me and many others, this doesn’t feel like strikers at all, it feels completely lost from what it used to be
@agent beta Sorry but no. As someone who has completed and won the Striker Cuo more times than I can count in my own two hands, I can assure you that Battle League is absolutely disgraceful.
This is an embarrassment of a sequel.
Sad to see Smash suffered the same fate
Free updates, micro transactions, battle passes, paid DLCs, etc. all ruined gaming
Or that they don't make a sequel to Mario Sports Mix
@@Goomba1309 Or maybe Nintendo only wants to cater to the casual crowd??? I can tell you Mario Strikers Charge's single player was really frustrating.
The people at next level games are incredibly talented, especially in animation. It’s so frustrating to see their talent wasted because nintendo set this game up for failure.
Only good thing to come from this game is the Donkey Kong dancing meme
actually two good things, the Shy Guy staring meme
the worse downgrade this game had was not having the Kritters as the goalkeepers
They were too focused on making this game competitive forgetting that this is a Mario Game. Once again clearly had a Golden Age in the 2000s since every game is a remake or inferior sequel
Rosalina and Pauline are the only NEW characters, everyone else is just veterans!
Even rosa can be barely considered "new" because shes in every single mario spinoff game. The only reason shes "new" in strikers game is because the last strikers game came out so long ago rosalina didnt even exist back then.

_But sadly, even strikers has been struck with nintendo's trend of "release now, finish later" mess, & not given the freedom of creation they once had just like the previous 2._
One question on that.

Ngl this game disappointed me so much like I knew Nintendo was gonna do something weird with this game as soon as it got announced but man this game has no content AT ALL, i really wish Nintendo would stop with the “free update” stuff because it only works for splatoon and that it, I don’t even want a new Mario baseball game now if they keep doing this…
I hate that I kinda hate and blame Splatoon for this, but I know it's a great series
Yeah a soccer game doesn’t really work with that, especially one that already existed beforehand

Yeah I never got into strikers club, it never looked interesting in the slightest to me but with that news…damn I don’t think I’ll ever touch it lol
Strikers Charged should’ve been treated like Metroid Prime Remastered.
Knowing these options were in charged I would add these options to battle league that you could toggle on/off:
- custom items(very obvious choice) where you can turn on/off specific items
- power shortage/high voltage (same as in charged where you dont get electified when pushed to the fence or the fence is stronger)
- every shot is always perfect shot (this would basically be equivalent to white ball option from charged where the ball was always fully charged while here every shot would always be perfect shot)
- every pass is always perfect pass (same concept as above)
- hyperstrikers are alway turned on and you can use them anytime
- only captain can use hyperstrike
- no slowdown during hyperstrike charging
- no visible arrows while charging tackles(the tackles would still work the same but the arrow wouldnt be visible)
- frequency of how often item boxes appear(low, medium high). Not the ones that you get after being tackled without ball but the ones that randomly appear
- frequency of how often hyperstrike orb appears(low, medium high)
These options alone would give it a lot more gameplay variety even with the lacking content but even these basic options (and quality of life options for that matter) are missing in this game.
Many good points but I Don't agree with hyperstrikes are always turned on. For me personally they ruin the game, so I want to turn them off
@@sistakastet Those are options that could be toggled on/off so hyperstrike turned off would be still there.
I wouldn't really call the game horrible, even objectively, and there are things I do disagree with this video (Like it being soulless or the animations forgetting what made Strikers the way it is), but I completely understand the disappointment from many people
The game did sell well at the end tho, and if there's anything I learned thing from this company, they do not give less of a damn about fan reaction.
I totally agree with you
Compare sales to charged, BL failed
@@therealjaystone2344 Charged took 3-4 years to get to the 2.6 million milestone, nearly half of the sales come from it being apart of the Nintendo Selects. BL meanwhile got to 2.1 in just 5 months; we still need to see until the end of the financial year to see where BL ends up with. Either way I really doubt Nintendo cares since again, they got their money and the game hit right where they wanted
I think we'll get another one eventually because Nintendo realized there's a market for it and it's a cheap game to develop. Well, it shouldn't be cheap but it is because they're lazy af
This game feels like it was meant to be a digital eshop “Super Mario Soccer” and then someone at nintendo reminded them Strikers was a thing and they slapped the Strikers name to it
Mario Tennis Aces was good, Mario Golf super rush was mid but this
Kinda wild that the game that didn't even have a stage select screen at launch and only got a opening cutscene a year after its release is still better than Super Rush and especially Battle League...
In a mode that was as difficult as that one (for me), it made the game plenty replayable and really helped me stay engaged
For me, it was the glue that held the ranked mode together, if every game was the same I would've gotten bored
But seriously though. I’m as shocked as ever. Out of all the games that could POSSIBLY turn out to be bad, WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE FREAKING MARIO STRIKERS!?!?
This franchise deserved so much better
Both rely on skill but you can easily dodge a bomb in both games you just need to run around it
@agent betacounterpoint:they could have added more options to the game to change the item balancing
Same. I really enjoy the game, even if I'm alsodisappointed with it at times because of some of the features this game does and doesn't have.
2 years later and I still f*cking hate this game
Sometimes when I think of this game it makes me sad because of how fun Charged was and how I was so excited for it. Then it turns out to be the worst game I have ever played. I much rather play Sonic Forces
Even sonic forces sucks too , all new games do really
No additional game modes is what really got me... They need to stop this shit, bring back the good Mario sports games.
Yeah lol daisy just screams everything now
Sis even straight-up CRIES if she gets a goal scored on...
Yeah the planetoid stage you’d could have had like craters in it or something but we still have nothing
@@oreogod1985 Nintendo can get away with it because I checked the charts. It's only 6 million below the sales of Charged.

Good video overall OreoGod and I agree with your points since I thought of them too. Its sad that one of my favorite sport series got screwed by the "Free DLC" method.
…aw damn that’s probably what happened…I miss strikers so much man this sucks😭
Anyway, there will not be a sequel to those games without Square Enix because Square Enix were the developers behind it.

I really think Nintendo has a problem of buying out companies. They make good games normally, but for ones made. By other developers, they get rid of lots of the stuff that makes it special. I'm still buying it though, being my very first strikers game

I hope an indie game will recover the true heart of Mario Striker Charged Football.
it urks me to have played this game on launch and feeling the emptiness of this sequel after being hyped that Strikers charged, a game I have put countless hour playing, was finally getting a sequel
I love charged so much that battle league makes me cry until this day
when i saw the gear system in the trailer i was like "wtf" !?
it makes the characters feel so chunky and sluggish and artificial when they move like that in such heavy gear.
why would anyone add such a system ?! it compromises the core gameplay so much visually but they have stats so even in gameplay...
its so stupid.
This video is very good man
Keep up the good work, if there is a thing i love, is seeing stragens ranting about games in the internet!
Thank you!
Why can't the lava stage have rock or castle terrain, or a sandy place actually have sand?
you mean the fields?
They release unfinished games just like all the other publishers they’re supposed to be better than
The core game 'feel' is fine - why no more modes and a chance to remove cut-scenes..... A real waste of a good core game.
Id give the game post content 3/10. failure
Nintendo as a whole is shit now. from the console to the games trash hopefully their next gen console steps it back up
I'll have you know Mario Strikers Battle League is one of the most video games to ever. Its has graphics and controls. The characters moved and the stages were there. The music made sound. I liked the part where Waluigi said "It's Waluigi time!" and Waluigied all over the field.
I agree, Battle League is in fact, one the video games of all time
Just as I thought, people like me predicted right when this game will feature 16 characters, 8 stadiums and 8 gear in total for 2022. And like you said in this video, this game still fucking sucks. It still suffers from the same exact problems as you and people in the comments mentioned in the previous video.
Did I forgot to mention that theres no aggressive crowd reactions?? Where the ahhhhhh, ohhhh, boooooo , yaaaaaaay. All of this were in charged.
I liked the cheering and unique sirens and horns each field had in Charged
Strikers charged IS the nuch better game. And that's a really rare L when it comes to Nintendo sequels.
I was so close to buying this. Like ridiculously close. But after seeing videos of it and the lack of modes and after buying Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. I couldn't. It's ridiculous that games nowadays are releasing with LESS content than what came before it. I'm so tired of seeing it.
Yeah it’s always such a terrible situation that happens to these legendary games, sequels that just make the series as a whole look worse
Mario tennis aces is an amazing game tho!
Why every time Nintendo make a sports game they get lazy and never add any new content to it or they just give up entirely upon its release
Nintendo likes to brand itself as a virtue of fun and respect, while doing the same bad things that other companies does.
The wii Mario strikers was my favorite game of all time and I don’t know why the depth is not as deep in this game
The lack of content in Switch games like Nintendo Switch Sports and Animal Crossing New Horizons have left a bad taste in my mouth.
@@oreogod1985 Thank you!
This channel is actually really fun :>
my biggest problem is still the ost
my god its so generic, its just basic rock, they all sound the same
what happened to the variety that was in charged
i feel like nintendo rushed them cause its a mario sports game also they probally want luigis mansion 4 more
With how things are, I prefer they better leave LM on the third game
man i should finish that "lol"
Too late, 15 years too late.
It’s weird cuz back on the Wii and GameCube they were treated with respect and care and these days it’s like what happened man
I completely agree with this entire video.
The controls are way too complex compared to mario strikers charged, makes it impossible to play with friends cause they have to learn what a million buttons do
i never got as into the original mario strikers as others, but i still hate this sequel
Another thing i forgot to add previously, Mario's fire spiral is just the one from SSBU but less cool and satisfying, and he doesn't go super saiyan in this version! Disappointment on disappointment!😢
Where do you stand on this, Oreo?
It definitely would’ve been awesome if they fully referenced the smash version, but as is, it at least looks kinda cool
@@oreogod1985 Yeah, I suppose!😅
Sad to hear this, about to get my Switch and this was one of the games I wanted to get. Played TF out of Super Strikers on the game cube and loved it.
Next Level Games fills the game with animations to hide their evident weakness in gameplay programming.
I liked the Wastelands. If only because of the cheery music in the... post nuke drop site (?) and the lightning that functions differently from Stormship. Now the DUMP... THAT place sucks.
Funny enough The Dump is one of my favorite stadiums but Crystal Canyon and the Classroom are the best
