Yeah, about that, yes, I do not deny the epicness of this quote, but something is bugging me. Shouldn't the thirteenth Doctor here have been the first Tenth? As the Tenth Doctor regenerated twice. The Twelfth Doctor is from the new cycle of regenerations given to the Doctor by the Timelords on Trenzalore. Eleventh is the thirteenth life of the Doctor.
It broke my heart when I first heard the Doctor was the last of the Time Lords, but we see the irony that he could be the greatest of them all. Behold this vision: the Doctor, through much toil, hardship, sacrifice, struggling and suffering, finally manages to slip through the time lock he created, beelining straight to Gallifrey, gathering as much of its knowledge, technology, and of course it's people before exiting the Time War and resealing it to prevent it from destroying all existence, giving the Time Lords a fighting chance to survive.
i do love that it was someone so small and ultimately insignificant as clara who explained to them that they could take a different course. sometimes when you stand at the top of it all you cant see the lay of the land for the clouds.

Series 12 has great music. While there was a massive problem with too much ambiance in Series 11, and still is kinda a problem in Series 12, Segun is an absolute genius with his music. I'm impressed as all get-out at how the music is such an amazing contribution to the feel of the show -- this team works like mad with a limited budget to tell an enormous story, so they've used a style of music that literally creates the impression of a vast, inter-galactic backdrop against which these events unfold -- remarkable! And *smart*. My god, they're smart, the whole bunch of them! Well, that's "SciFi" for you -- shallow, whizz-bang action stories for teen-aged boys. Only somehow it's actually immensely potent story telling for, it turns out, great numbers of people all around the world! Epic? You bet!

Like, she didn't realize until after the time war that the 3 doctors saved her life, so she dedicates herself to protecting the Doctor (not by becoming a companion, just to make it more interesting). But, there's another her in an alternate reality where the Doctor did destroy Gallifrey, and she tries to kill him. There's several flaws to this idea, but I think it all can be explained. Does anybody else like it??
I think we’ve all had a moment in our lives where we’ve metaphorically stood in front of the big red button, faced with a moment, and a choice that could potentially cause that much destruction, yet end that much suffering… None of us have the luxury of having our future selves stand alongside us for support, but we all have the capacity to face those moments with the same level of grace, restraint and willingness to self sacrifice as the doctor/s. And regardless of the choice we make, become better people, carrying the weight, the memory and the loss of those moments with us. Not that it’s from “day of the doctor” but, without hope, without witness, without reward…
Beautifully crafted music, a basically simple, declarative structure meant to juice up all your systems, tears included. That ending declaration, in truly heroic tones, over such music, just flips all your switches, and off you go into the stratosphere. It's well-nigh irresistible.
