"I can buy one so they barely make any" is a non sequiter. Given that when compared to the same quarter one year earlier Nvidia's earnings increased by 51% in Q4 2020. There is plenty reason to assume that this is down to selling tons of rtx 3000 cards. I bought a 3080 in december 2020 for about 900$ (admittedly not cheap, but it is a good model). Its not exactly Nvidia's fault that the Mining craze is back and that thanks to covid, there is more demand than ever anyways.

Before reading my commentary, 1)Take in account that I is only an opinion . No matter the claims .. if there are no games specifically dedicated to that gpu, The gpu is gonna be a waste.. and don't include the raytracing part . Of course it will run the next wave of games, but no games will target that 3080. Unlike console . The disadvantage of a console ,is the fact that a console can't evolve like a pc can do on a yearly basis. However, it might be one of it s strength. Since there is only one gpu on a console for a long time , the developers can focus more on understanding that gpu and make the best to make sure all of the power Available is used smartly. On pc , there is some much variation of pc configuration ,to the point, the developers needs to take in account lower end average pc configuration while designing their gameplay, the main benefits of higher end graphics cards bieng the boost in framerate and the raytracing capacity. The cheer diversity in the world of pc plays against the revolution of games . Or else ,if developers were to target a rtx 3090 specification it would create exclusivity ,not only, into the pc ecosystem but also among nvidia s other gpu. That would be really bad for developers who needs to have a maximum of people playing their games. In conclusion: The biggest advantages of the pc compared to a console ( evolving, diversity) is their biggest disadvantage. For now ,the only way you are truly gonna make your graphics card count, is into the world of work ( blender, zbrush, photoshop, editing software in general, games creation.. ) Funny how a rtx 3080 is a better investment for creating a game than for playing one on pc . Don't get me wrong, the result are really cool 🤯, in game , but it could be so much better if developers would fully use that card specification . Hint at why a rtx 3080 would be a better fit for a console ( which is meant to be a game device that has to last a longer time than a pc , 7 years in average) Let's be honest, everybody upgrades their pc at least once in 2~4 years😇
The 3080 is targeting 4k gamers. Games like Cyberpunk, Control, The Medium, Horizon Zero Dawn, even Lego Builder's Journey can bring the 3080 to its knees. Especially on 4k/120hz tv's. As for next-gen consoles, they have less than half the power of the 3080. It results in games running at 30fps, or medium graphic settings, lower resolutions, no raytracing effects, etc. They just don't look as good as on a 3080. As for designing games for a 3080 card, that's where the settings menu comes in. PC games can run on their minimum spec and maximum spec, and use every bit of hardware in your machine.
They were right saying rtx3080 was going to be TWICE faster than 2080ti but they forgot to mention that it was in terms of selling speed instead performance lul.
SR-IOV would enable so many ideas in home computing, like imagine a cloud media and gaming center in your house, streaming games to tablets and TVs with no internet and no lag.

I managed to preorder my card and got it month after ordering. It is an absolute beast. When I play in 5120x1440p on my Samsung ultra wide I often hit over 400fps. Every ray tracing enabled game I've got also looks absolutely breath taking. Oh and it destroys vr.
I've been rocking my RTX 3080 Suprim X from MSI for almost a year now, since last December. Got it for an MSRP and i couldn't be happier. It's a fantastic product, same as 1080 Ti once was.
Android Tablet: I used to use a Surface Pro, but Windows software tends to make things more complicated than they need to be, depending (there are times when you do need it), so I use an S4 right now. Video editing, audio editing, simple image edits, writing scripts for my videos, VPN to work through Citrix casting to a 42". It's a decent workhorse. For how small it is with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, it works well. Not an iPad Pro, but a lot cheaper, especially with trade-in. Works for me.

Although for entertainment, even though it is very relaxing, it will be a bit boring until quality addons are available. I still haven't figured how to dump the heat into a parallel universe though, best I can do is dump it outside by switching to an external radiator (that isn't very efficient if it's already 40C ambient outside, space in a parallel universe would be better, -270C in the shade assuming it's more or less identical to this one).

Before reading my commentary,
1)Take in account that I is only an opinion .
No matter the claims .. if there are no games specifically dedicated to that gpu,
The gpu is gonna be a waste.. and don't include the raytracing part .
Of course it will run the next wave of games, but no games will target that 3080.
Unlike console .
The disadvantage of a console ,is the fact that a console can't evolve like a pc can do on a yearly basis.
However, it might be one of it s strength.
Since there is only one gpu on a console for a long time , the developers can focus more on understanding that gpu and make the best to make sure all of the power Available is used smartly.
On pc , there is some much variation of pc configuration ,to the point, the developers needs to take in account lower end average pc configuration while designing their gameplay, the main benefits of higher end graphics cards bieng the boost in framerate and the raytracing capacity.
The cheer diversity in the world of pc plays against the revolution of games .
Or else ,if developers were to target a rtx 3090 specification it would create exclusivity ,not only, into the pc ecosystem but also among nvidia s other gpu.
That would be really bad for developers who needs to have a maximum of people playing their games.
In conclusion:
The biggest advantages of the pc compared to a console ( evolving, diversity) is their biggest disadvantage.
For now ,the only way you are truly gonna make your graphics card count, is into the world of work ( blender, zbrush, photoshop, editing software in general, games creation.. )
Funny how a rtx 3080 is a better investment for creating a game than for playing one on pc .
Don't get me wrong, the result are really cool 🤯, in game , but it could be so much better if developers would fully use that card specification .
Hint at why a rtx 3080 would be a better fit for a console ( which is meant to be a game device that has to last a longer time than a pc , 7 years in average)

The 3080 is targeting 4k gamers. Games like Cyberpunk, Control, The Medium, Horizon Zero Dawn, even Lego Builder's Journey can bring the 3080 to its knees. Especially on 4k/120hz tv's. As for next-gen consoles, they have less than half the power of the 3080. It results in games running at 30fps, or medium graphic settings, lower resolutions, no raytracing effects, etc. They just don't look as good as on a 3080. As for designing games for a 3080 card, that's where the settings menu comes in. PC games can run on their minimum spec and maximum spec, and use every bit of hardware in your machine.

What I really care about is how it compares to the 1080 Ti. Most people didn't downgrade to the 20 series (price/performance).
I managed to preorder my card and got it month after ordering. It is an absolute beast. When I play in 5120x1440p on my Samsung ultra wide I often hit over 400fps. Every ray tracing enabled game I've got also looks absolutely breath taking. Oh and it destroys vr.

Android Tablet: I used to use a Surface Pro, but Windows software tends to make things more complicated than they need to be, depending (there are times when you do need it), so I use an S4 right now. Video editing, audio editing, simple image edits, writing scripts for my videos, VPN to work through Citrix casting to a 42". It's a decent workhorse. For how small it is with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, it works well. Not an iPad Pro, but a lot cheaper, especially with trade-in. Works for me.
