Big Picture: This is Aberdeen
Department of Defense. Department of the Army. Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations. U.S. Army Audiovisual Center. (ca. 1974 - 05/15/1984). This is an on-the-spot report from the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, as to the activities going on -- activities to prove our military equipment the finest in any Army. Lieutenant John Mortimer interviews key personnel at Aberdeen, bringing out the importance of the individual's job in "testing for the best."

I pulled Guard Duty when I was In AIT training in the Ordinance Museum. Well I was in there alone and I heard all kinds of weird noises in the middle of the night! So it was almost like some of the tanks and vehicles were haunted with the spirits or energy of Soldiers from the past! I’m not scared of much and later went into combat as Cannonier on M109 self propelled Howitzer “ Hell on Wheels”! Still the Museum which I hear is no longer there was one of the most disturbing of my service anyone out there that had a similar story?

It’s because I was playing in the tanks for ten years ….
I was at Aberdeen PG going to machinist school in 1985 with the USMC detachment. We also had to pull guard duty at the museum in the middle of winter.
i did construction on aberdeen proving grounds, I dug up a land mine, i quit that day lol
I worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 2009-2012. In the environmental division which was at one time the biggest group on the installation (mostly 90s)
This.is why we have the very best of equipment.

I was treated for depleted uranium exposure at APG hospital .
I noticed that M/Sgt Stuart Queen, who narrates all of these videos, doesn't have a Combat Infantry Badge.

Hmmm .....with all of the money and time spent on R & D....we STILL end up with the M60 MG (junk);the M47 Dragon (junk) Sgt York AA system (over priced mega junk) ACU uniforms (whaaaaaat?) Crusader SP artillery vehicle (expensive junk) the Bradley IFV (aluminum junk) and finally MRE menu 4 Country Captain Chicken ( toxic taste).
The M60s were reportedly fine when they were new. It's just that by the mid 80's-early 00's they were really showing their age. Also while the M47 did indeed suck its important to recognize its a new technology. Eventually, the Javelin was developed from it, and was once called Dragon II in its development. No excuses for UCP though lol. It's better if it's dyed though.
The Bradely is a great vehicle though, it killed more T-72s in ODS than M1s did. Even the Ukranians are holding their own with them against current Russian armor.
Panther, a "Heavy" tank? I dont think so. Sherman's only good point was the ability to run like hell from the panther.
The long barrel 76mm guns on the later models could penetrate Panthers, plus Panthers had notorious weak spots on the sides.
Shermans good point was it wouldn’t break every 150km
