My grandmother was a Wanderer and got a hankerin' to GO while living in the PNW in the 70's. She pulled out her USA roadmap, closed her eyes and put her finger down on WILLIAMS, AZ., called it Fate, loaded her car and off she went to live there for a few years. 😁
Russ, I carry an ebike on the back of my class c, and to reduce the cover flapping in the breeze, I use one of the cargo nets for pickup trucks. Works good.
Hi Russ ....Joanie here!😉 You are parked in the exact spot we've camped in a couple times! We love Williams. I think we've camped there a total of 7 weeks so far! We are currently at Las Vegas, N.M., at Storrie Lake State Park. Thanks for the video!!! Talk soon!!!
God Bless , United States America , Russ , RVerTV Fans.We Love RVerTV - Grand Journey Thru U.S.A. - Grand Videos - Grand Music . Thank you Russ - RVerTV - BEST TV ON TH-cam.
Many u tube nomads have purchased land in and around Williams. Great vlog and very well presented. Williams is interesting thank you for taking us along
🙋Hello Russ! Williams looked like a nice little town. Enjoyed seeing the aerial view of the Boon docking area your in. Really nice looking. Enjoy the rest of your evening, & the weekend. 👍
It is a great place to visit, drive through the town at night is like the little town in the movie Cars, also close to Grand Canyon, Oak Creek Canyon, Flagstaff and Sedona. You could easy spend a week there.
PBS had 2 half hour travel videos w Coleen Kelly and 2 daughters going all around this area: Bearazona, Lake Powell, a ranch, rode train to Grand Canyon, Navaho museum, etc. Such neat sites in AZ.
Based on the color alone, I believe the material being mined at 12:45 is volcanic cinders which they use in asphalt paving and also used by itself on unpaved dirt roads and for landscape uses. I've seen it in Arizona, Utah and Nevada because they get it from extinct volcanoes. BTW, great drone footage as always.
I loved this little town of Williams at first sight. Great rest stop on your way to either Kingman (west) or Flagstaff (east) along Interstate-40. Route 66 memorabilia, old stores, full services, the Grand Canyon Railways (the old steam Locomotive # 539 was parked there for many years), it has everything anyone needs when traveling. Plus it looks a lot like the New England town of Littleton, New Hampshire, nestled in the White Mountains among the pines, another city dear to my heart. A magnificent video, Russ. Keep it up !! RICHARD
Yeah. Retiring soon into an RV (camper van) I need to get this boondocking stuff figured out as I will have no more 'home base' to come back to. Thanks!
My wife and I are building a Timber Frame cabin 8 miles north of Williams. Our first home after renting our entire lives. Beautiful area, great neighbors, we love it there. Of all the places on earth we could have chosen Williams came out on top. Very similar to the area you chose to Boondock. No water (water haul/rainwater collection) which is a challenge and scares a lot of people. Water table is 3200 ft. so no well, ever. I just see it as a challenge to overcome. We feel like Pioneers in a way. The area still has that feel to it. I'm a Blacksmith, Timber Framer and mill my own lumber. In a way I guess we are. Thanks for the nice tour of Williams. It's even nicer than it looks.
Another great ride along, Ty. Such a nice town, lots of history, and preservation. Train fan, we always check out the old depot's where we go. The pull off with the train cars would make a great community Christmas area. Nice drone footage, so clear. Really pretty boondocking spot, with views. Your van is such a gem in many ways. 🙂👍👍
Little history on those Welcome Arches. The posts were former Santa Fe Signal bridges. When the Burlington Northern took over the road, they "standardized" the signals so all the SF signals had to go! Love to that some live on, in a manner of speaking. It's been years, for me, in Williams. Thanks for the memories, Russ.
I was there the same time . We were camped on out to the left at the Y . Great location. Moved from there to Dogtown Road . You take 4th street to the left In town go 4 miles or so. The road goes to Dogtown Lake. Lots of boondocking spots , good cellular. Safe travels my friend
I have travel the hole route 66 in 32 ford with a car tour in 2005 good times brings back memories. Took the train to grand canyon. 👍😅😅😍😍 Love your videos be safe.
Thank you for sharing your N. Ariz. adventures with us. I'm from the east coast but was fortunate to attend NAU briefly in the late 80's and fell in love with the area. Onward and Upward!
👍 Thank you for all your videos and all you show us that can not get out that much. I have been following video for a few year and they are great. Keep up the good work and stay safe on your trips.
Enjoyed my 2nd trip to William's with you. The downtown hasn't changed. A good thing. Called home with an AT&T calling card. No cell phones back then., and $ of gas was a thing of no concern. Thanks again for the ride-a-long. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Nice trip thru Williams. Thanks, Russ. Incidentally, those photos labelled "1940" ( 03:32 ) are a little misleading. The movie "The Emperor Waltz" with Joan Fontaine was released in 1948, and the car in the lower left-hand corner of the second photo looks suspiciously like a 1949 Ford. Still, a nice glimpse of the past.
Visited Williams a little over a year ago and camped at dogtown lake. We lived in Bend Oregon and loved the area. Actually would love to live there myself.
Hi Russ! Great video. Smooth narration too. Living in the Prescott area, I get to spend a LOT of time around Williams. Camping, hunting, boon-docking, etc. The train to GC is a hoot. Safe travels.
Love your videos Russ.A blast from the past seeing a Safeway supermarket, been gone for over 20 years here in Scotland.Had a laugh when you you called the train a choo choo😂😂.
My neck of the woods. Used to fish a lot at Kiabab lake. It's almost all dried out, now. Camped across from the Lake right where you turned in, b4 I bought property near the Grand Canyon, national park. Lots of good memories there when I full timed in an RV, prior to 2012. Love it out here. No neighbors within a mile on my private property north of your camp spot. Williams, is too expensive for me. I'll drive to flagstaff for my shopping. Save a lot of money doing that.
Hi Russ, we are Europeans, big fans and on a road trip from Arizona to California. We were in the Grand Canyon from May 30th till June 1st and passed thru Williams on June 1st. When did you pass by? We missed each other then probably by only a few days :-) Kind regards!
There is a drawback to the railway RV park and that is that you do get awakened in the middle of the night by train horns as the RV park is right on the train tracks. Otherwise pretty nice. Expensive and crowded. The RV park does have deluxe restrooms but there is a long walk to the pool, which is at the hotel. We have stayed two times in about 6 years. A plus is that this place is in walking distance to the various downtown restaurants shops and the Safeway grocery store. By the way, there is a very nice ACE Hardware store in town with excellent service and nice employees.
Use to go there 3 or 4 times a month when they had the flea market. Use to meet old friends and camp out. Haven't been back for a year. Wish they would open the flea market again.
Hey Russ, I just saw the old Manitou and Pike’s Peak railway engine that you drove by at the Grand Canyon hotel there. That engine used to be parked here in Colorado Springs Colorado for years and years. Glad to see it has a good home.
Hi Russell. We are camping at kaibab lake right now. Here till Saturday. Love this little town. It's a favorite. Maybe we'll run into you!! Happy trails
Check out the train station building......restored... with a great original fireplace etc. Vearazona you drive thru where the animals are loose. Each section secured so bears, wolves and Buffalo are living. No windows allowed down. Nice all log restaurant and small walk thru zoo. Great gift shop connected to log restaurant.
Hi Russ, You give me so many ideas of places to visit. I go to Quartzsite every winter and have met you once. Hope to chat with you some day. From one TH-camr to another stay safe my friend.
Russ you missed the best of Williams you take 4th street south from 66 it becomes 73 hwy, there is bundoking every where once you pass some homes on the way. Actually you can drive all the way to Jerome.
I thought about (last early Spring) that area but it's just too far from the Canyon. We did fuel up there the prices were very high, got to the town outside the Canyon and fuel was distinctly cheaper! And that was before BFlation really began to bite fuel prices.Check Gasbuddy I guess. Shopped at that Safeway too.
Hi Russ. Did we miss something?? A short time ago you were on your way to Page. Did you make a U-turn and head back to I-40?? Either way, I'm watching more & more of your cool vids. (the tutorial shows that I believe you said will be on Tuesdays, have they started??)
It would be a good place to camp out if the town has a big enough grocery store so you are not paying convenuos store prices. We lived close to a town where people stopped on their way to Yosemite. We had to drive thirty something miles into Merced to grocery shop or pay high prices at their only grocery store.
Hey first time seeing your channel, just updating you on the Fred Harvey Restaurant. We we're actually only shut down for about a month due to Covid-19 unlike the other restaurants up at the Canyon (Most are still shut down). We drastically had to change the way we ran the restaurant for little over a year, instead of buffet style it was more of a cafeteria style. Definitely slowed our business for a good 2 years though
Also Ash Fork is a huge chunk of history its between Williams and Seligman. Was the first town where Fred Harvey started his train station restaurants with the harvey girls. The poor town has burned down twice and looks almost like a Ghost town now.
I enjoyed this episode of Boondocking on Route 66, Williams Arizona.
My grandmother was a Wanderer and got a hankerin' to GO while living in the PNW in the 70's. She pulled out her USA roadmap, closed her eyes and put her finger down on WILLIAMS, AZ., called it Fate, loaded her car and off she went to live there for a few years. 😁

I so much enjoy your Arizona videos! Can't believe that gas is so much cheaper in Williams compared to around Phoenix!
PBS had 2 half hour travel videos w Coleen Kelly and 2 daughters going all around this area: Bearazona, Lake Powell, a ranch, rode train to Grand Canyon, Navaho museum, etc.
Such neat sites in AZ.
I love the old signs and gas pumps that are on Route 66.
HEY, Hey It's RVerTV Russ, Thanks for letting me bum A ride to William's Today it was A Blast 👍
Wife and I camp hosted here last year also boondocked up fourth Street about six miles at Coleman lake this year great spot
Thanks for sharing. My future wife and I are thinking of buying property around Williams So we have a place to boondock on our “own” property.
Sounds great!

Old Willams ; beautiful and great camping 😎😎👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the tour and the aerial shot very nice
Williams would be on my list for a place to have a home in the US. Seems to be a nice little town.
Nice campground. Used to be, ALL campgrounds were "boondocking" - folks are spoiled these days with electricity :)
" folks are spoiled these days with electricity?" Yeah and we like running water too...
@@jaysantos536 of course you do snowflake
Yeah. Retiring soon into an RV (camper van) I need to get this boondocking stuff figured out as I will have no more 'home base' to come back to. Thanks!
Finally bought a camper for my truck, and boy did I get a deal, old truck and old camper, thanks there sir for making feel young again.

Great job showing our little piece of paradise. You camped about 8 miles from our off grid homestead.
I love Williams. Fun and relaxing
That was very interesting. My husbands uncle was a Bill Williams. His grandmother on his mothers side is 1/2 Cherokee. So cool.
Wow Russ! Williams is great! Thank you for filming it on Hey 64!😀🇺🇸🚙❤️
My fav town Williams. Good drive today. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
We took the railroad years ago. What fun! It gets stopped by outlaws on horseback who come thru the cars “robbing“ people to the delight of the kids.
Another great ride along, Ty. Such a nice town, lots of history, and preservation. Train fan, we always check out the old depot's where we go. I like that sasnack sticker on the back of your rig
I love Williams. It's a nice overnight stop on the drive from Vegas...get up in the morning and hit the Canyon

Love that area of Williams
Williams was my first experience of route 66 back in 2007. I honestly believe Oatman to Williams is the best part or the Mother Road.
Hey Russ!!! "WILLIAMS" and "ROUTE 66" fun "TIME"!!! Be Safe!!!

Haven’t found a no cost RV dump and fresh water near Williams. Have you?

The train ride RV Park was, at one time, Passport America affiliated, so 1/2 price with PA. Nice pull-through sites and great amenities.
If you take the train across Arizona you will stop in Williams where some will disembark and catch a train into the Grand Canyon.

If you live in Australia.use your rac card for a big discount on the railway ride to the grand canyon.
What you missed was “The Bakery” that has by far the best pie in the state of Arizona!
Going through the town at night is a total different experience kinda like the town in the movie Cars.
The first building where you turned was also a train station building.
I wish you could throw in a gas report in some of these towns.
thanks one more time for all your content!

Sure hope you catch the night sky! Take care!
I like Kingman and Flagstaff but Williams is a pretty town too
Cool video Russ, thanks. We ate right there at the Fiesta Grill in July 2019.
Don't go to McDonald's in Williams, for 2 big Mac combo's and a happy meal was $42.00. GOUGERS! 3 months ago...
Seriously? wow. sad.
He doesn't eat Yuckdonalds or other fast food joints. But thanks for the headsup for the rest of us.
we parked at the dollar general over night in a c-class -asked if was ok 1st.

Headed east just before you leave town there is a great steak house.
Williams is almost 6800', that's why they get snow.
