The thing that draws me to this show series is the amount of pride people and professionals have in their history. As an American I can’t imagine this type of show happening here, we’re too stuck in denial.
Can anyone tell me, an American, why Cromwell had all the castles torn down? I understand about tearing down the churches and cathedrals, but why the castles?
A few reasons. 1) This is a T.V. show, so they have budget constraints a full blown archaeological dig wouldn't have. 2) All of the archaeologists have/had at the time positions in archaeological societies/groups/organizations so had to take time out of their schedule to do these episodes and then get right back to their regular jobs. 3) These were never intended to be full archaeological digs. Though many of the sites Time Team visited did get on the list of important sites and fully funded archaeological digs came in later to do more digging and recording of the sites.
This is when Time Team were in their prime, Mick was (is) a legend
"... and Stewart was right ..." - more often than not, some version of this phrase comes into play at a critical moment.

Why only 3 days?
