In the end of the day, you're comparing a full released game (the forest) vs a game in alpha. This proves the whole point that sons of the forest looks pretty decent in the alpha stages and there's more to come.
SOTF is better in almost every way, and there are a lot of updates yet to come, with lots of stuff and a lot of new content, but The Forest will always have a place in our hearts, I've grew up with it, and I've been playing it since 0.01
Thoroughly enjoying SOTF. The combat is a lot more user friendly in the aspect that enemies arent just running around like chickens with no heads and then randomly decide to death shot you. The critical hits are a very nice addition to this game, nothing beats fighting an enemy and watching one of their limbs go flying through the air. A lot of people forget that this is quite literally the beginning of a terrific game, and if its already this good in early access, I can only imagine how much more fine tuning and mechanics etc will be put into the game. I loved playing The Forest, but im thoroughly hooked on SOTF now.

The combat is a bit to simple in sons of the forest.
