- Matt James opens up to ET's Denny Directo about sharing his story in his new book, 'First Impressions: Off-Screen Conversations with a Bachelor on Race, Family, and Forgiveness.' The former 'Bachelor' reflects on his tumultuous time on the show and why he'll never 'disparage' the franchise. Plus, his public perception of his relationship with Rachael Kirkconnell and whether he's thinking about proposing to her. He also shares what it has meant to be vulnerable about the good, the bad and the ugly parts of his life in the book.

Not a fan of Matt but , I'm happy for him for finding happiness ,and I wish him the best.
I like Matt but I can’t imagine Rachael raising a black kid because I can’t get back together with someone who celebrates antebellum and being mean to black people.
@@chrisnoziere2893 I don’t think she celebrates antebellum. She was just stupid, naive, and uneducated.
I personally didn’t even know what antebellum was, until this came up. I literally thought a southern belle meant wearing a cute corset, with a huge skirt, and an umbrella.
How STUPID and ignorant of me, but it’s the truth. I would never celebrate it now that I know what it stood for.

With all of Matt’s respect but I can’t imagine Rachael raising a black kid honest to God. Because she used to make fun of her classmates for liking black guys and she as celebrating antebellum. I don’t think they’re meant for each other. I think they’re better off as just friends.
The sad thing is I think Rachael’s father is of Latino descent. So the self hate runs deep in her family. Her daddy probably hates his skin tone and what he looks like every time he stares in the mirror.
