From mansion to hotel… maybe next a castle? Luigi gets sent to a seemingly abandoned castle but it turns out it’s actually a castle Bowser forgot about or something.

It is interesting, and pretty hilarious to think that Mr. Bean gotten them the inspiration to make Luigi's Mansion. Which explains the humor and the goof ball antics that Luigi makes in the game.
That's why Luigi is my favorite of the two Mario Bros, he's just a handsome goofball!
Jeoffrey Zern going full circle to work on two different hotel-focused Mario games... that kind of coincidence isn't quite enough to make me believe in divine providence, but at least it makes a compelling argument for whatever force programming the universe having a fondness for easter eggs.

Can we also talk about how amazing the soundtracks are for all of the Luigis mansion games music that should sound scary but it’s just really catchy

Thanks for the reupload, I can tell it's a pain. And not to sound like a jerk but, really think the game industry is too strict on game developers and doesn't give them full freedom of anything without someone breathing above their necks. I once wanted to become a game creator but from what I've heard (Not just from this video), game devs are treated as servants to the gaming big wigs, which is not what I wanted to work for.
thats why indie games are gaining so much traction, people don't like the big AAA corporate monsters

I don't know who'll read this particular comment, but I've seen some comments speculate that the original dev in the video would get in trouble for his comments on Miyamoto. I don't think this is the case at all!
Miyamoto has been very much associated with the phrase "upending the tea table". You can even find a whole page about it on the Zelda Dungeon Wiki, which has been up for 2014 according to the google search. The phrase itself comes from a 2004 GDC talk by Eiji Aonuma.
The real reason is the original dev probably just changed his mind tbh

Someone in the comments has already recounted all the differences and outed the poor guy that wanted to remain anonymous. I really hope that dev doesn't actually get any backlash from Nintendo over this.

I definitely support Charlie Day’s request for a Luigi’s Mansion movie, rather than Jack Black’s request to make the Mario movie sequel to be a musical since I’m not into musicals, I love Luigi’s Mansion, so give me a movie.

Wish I could; More often than not I have the memory of a slug, and it doesn't look like the original video was preserved anywhere… Even with the AI image, I somehow lacked the foresight that the original video would've been removed and replaced, so I don't have it on hand either :(

So for those wondering what the difference between the old and new video, I have saved the first video and watched these 2 side by side. Here's all the changes.
Old video lasts 19.49 new video 19.08
Old video's first 10 seconds has a promo for did you know gaming trivia based card game, new video cuts this.
At 0.51 (new video time) the new video image is blurred out, in the old video the image isn't and shows LM2 artist Janothan Yao (that is how his name is spelt in the video on screen)
2.34 new video shows clear picture of luigi with the writing on screen "those big brained Ghosts sure put up a fight" in the old video, this is still there but entirely blurred out... funny that, the new video is uncensored here over the old video... why is it blurred ....no idea.
11.31 new video time = the old video shows janothan yao talking about why the final boss was cut because it wasn't fun enough, was reworked and put back into the game) he mentions metaphorical "table flip" situations where if miyamoto doesn't like an idea he would tell the developers to effectively scrap the whole thing and start over (like flipping over a table). The new video cuts this section completely.
11.59 new video time = (janothan yao) is on screen in the old video talking about miyamoto being there during the riots. This video is replaced in the new video with footage of the riots with DYKG quoting him instead as anonymous.
That's all the changes.

@Guylan .... I downloaded the original video the day it came out and it was blurred. So how were fans able to tell them about the A:I image BEFORE they released the video?
Was there ANOTHER luigis mansion video released prior to even that one?
Either Im really tired and replied elsewhere or my comment disappeared. But it was unblurred for the uploads first 5 hours and was blurred using TH-cams editing tool upon learning the image of Luigi as a detective was AI. Both Dr Lava, a writer for DYKG and the main DYKG page acknowledged this on twitter. Genuine mistake, they obviously edited it out of the reupload.

Lol these videos are mostly some guy saying "they were going to do this, then they didn't. They were going to put this thing into the game, then that didn't. They planned to do this with the main character, then they didn't"
I know people are diversive over Dark Moon, but I do want to give the game points for something: I just love how Luigi has so much personality on that game!
What's crazy is you upload this as Im on a luigi's mansion craze...I beat the first one 3 day's ago and I beat it again on the 3DS last night..now Im about to start 2 and you upload all this nice stuff!

Based on the fact that there's a blurred segment while they're talking about someone they interviewed, my guess is they showed footage of the person in question and that person wanted it removed.
I found it ridiculous to have people fight because of Soccer, but lighting a city on fire because of a Hockey game? xD

Umm.. how did they develop it while not knowing the system?
It may be they were just in pre-production: writing up design documents, coming up with ideas, not really doing any big coding etc. Although it could also be they were doing early prototypes for known technology (the DS at the time), making a very crude and simple game just to test out ideas, instead of making something super-polished.

I didn't like Luigi's Mansion 2 and 3. The ghosts are boring and feel samey. I feel the first game had way more variety in normal ghosts. 3 was definitely better than 2, but 1 is just a landslide better game imo. In 3 there was long stretches with no ghosts at all even, which was really dumb.
I don't think anyone needs to be that secretive about a video game.
For instance, before Metal Gear Solid was released for the PS1, I knew about it like years in advance because of magazine articles. That's better, don't you think? Why all the secrecy? What's the point of it, for a video game?

No one cares about Luigis Mansion after 1
I’d like to bring up this idea I had for a Luigi’s Mansion sequel .
Idea would be that Luigi would enter E. Gadd’s computer to get rid of the ghosts haunting it and would enter legally distinct versions of mascot horror titles like Five Nights at Freddy’s, Poppy Playtime, and Hello Neighbor before going into a DanganRonpa spoof, and then entering legally distinct versions of games like Mario 85’ and many Mario Creepypastas. Except all the games he enters have been taken over by King Boo and twisted around.
Like the DanganRonpa spoof has the students become sentient instead of just characters in a game and are dealing with an existential crisis.
The mascot horror parodies could have said mascot monsters be slain by King Boo and Luigi has to travel through the ruins of said game.
The creepypasta games idea could have a legally distinct parody of MX be turned into a puppet for King Boo to use and ironically the blood and guts are all cleaned away.
I think that would really suck but keep up the creative thought process!
I like the idea! I wonder if it's something that can sustain a whole game, perhaps best concentrated into a "level" with a lot of references, but I do like the idea.
The only good Luigi's Mansion game is the original. The NLG versions suck.
Tell me why you dislike the NLG sequels, and don’t tell me Luigi’s Mansion 1 is great because of it’s atmosphere, I’ve heard that from other TH-camrs, I don’t care about the atmosphere, I care about is the gameplay.
