Good lord, someone give that entire train set a bath!

I'm impressed, that may be the first time I have seen a turboliner travel more then a few feet without either breaking down, or erupting into flames. God those things were shit.

Can anyone identify the bell of the Turboliners in this video?

The first train is most definitely ex-The Niagara Rainbow (NY-DET via Toronto and Buffalo)

God I miss the RTLs. They were a smooth, comfortable ride compared to the cheesy Amfleet coaches.

LOL the Turboliner! What a crock that thing was.

I rode them when I made occasional business trips between Albany and NYC. When the worked (the operative thought here), they were a nice ride. Had they been around today with track speeds in excess of 100 mph, they would have provided a great high speed trip. It's unfortunate that the best AMTRAK can offer now is some rehabbed AMFLEET 1 Coaches pulled by "yesterday's-news" diesel engines. The Empire Service could do better.

@@cats0182 some of those poor dual mode diesel engines used on the Empire Service look way worse for wear then the Turboliner did in this video, that's for sure! The repainted ones in the "Retro/Heritage" Phase III scheme I must say do WONDERS for the looks of the locomotives. The Amfleets still continue to impress me with their longevity and the rehab does make them look fairly modern, but I agree its time for some new blood injected into the Amtrak system as a whole...other then a few new Viewliners here and there....which are based on a design that is basically as old as this video is.

WOW!!!! I love this video! Was that Cafe in the beginning in Phase II?

No it was Phase I, but that train has Amfleet I cars in Phase I, II and III. The first car was Phase II.

Isnt the Cafe in phase III as well as the engine? Looked like engine is phase III and last coach is phase I because it has the arrow herald.
