Agreed, we hope to be able to continue to move like that at his age. Shoot, I"m already seeing a chiropractor and deep tissue massage therapist for maintenance LOL!
Glad you enjoyed it! That's how we feel when we meet the GM's and other instructor's from the Philippines. Outside of the training space, they like to have a drink, sing karaoke and have a good time.
I've been practicing Silat and Escrima since 1993 and Taiji, Bagua and Xingyi since 2008. I like practicing slow twisting and circling steps with blades. It nourishes my brain and I circulate my chi to stay healthy and massage my internal organs to stay soft and limber. The first thing I would teach someone is how to relax and root and circulate Qi. After relaxing, someone can learn basic Gong Fu!
It's good to balance the external with the internal arts. Especially when we get older. Things get stiffer and tighter. People may not see the benefits of the internal arts, but for overall mental, spiritual and physical health, it helps. Especially since it is low impact.
We spoke to a former police office why they stopped using the night stick and tonfa. He said that it was too bulky and flopped around when they were trying to run after an assailant. It kept swing around on the belt and smacking them when they were running.
73 and still going strong. Hope to still have that passion and mobility at that age.

GM Rodel makes it look so easy. Great instruction.
He's rare person that started as a young child. He's polished his craft as the years go by. And he has a great connection with his students.
Great techniques but what I really like is the inherent sense of humour and lack of ego. Fantastic!

My bucket would be able to learn with master dagooc!
You're not the only one. He's definitely a favorite to learn and train under.

Most welcome. Glad you still enjoy the content.
Beautiful and complete art.
Indeed, the old school GM's always have to adapt quick to whatever situation. And what we notice is that they move without hesitation.
💯

I am one of the only people who practices double, Tai Chi, double edged straight sword. I recommend everyone learn to fight with weapons!
Looking good GM Rodel. We can see that you still love what you do. Pugay and Mabuhay from the states 😎 👍🏽
It is definitely keeping him young 😀
We visited him to train for 2 days this June when we where in the Philippines! It was a absolute honour!
Nice, were you able to get some of his training gear and coffee?
@@FMAPulse it sure was! Yes we brought home a bag full of training gear, but we skipped the coffee, to hot for coffee, water was fine 👌
