Hi Mike! I'm one of the people behind Doom 32X Resurrection project. Thanks for covering D32XR on your channel! Being a long time fan, I feel honored. To think this could have been the version of Doom the 32x got. Pretty impressive. I still think it is interesting to ponder that the 32x could have been a Genesis successor. It already supported CD games via the Sega CD so Sega could have just launched an all-in-one unit down the line with Genesis backwards compat, Sega CD support and 32x CD support all rolled into one. If Sega had been able to keep their huge install base with the Genesis their future as a company might have been very different.
Awesome, glad you got a chance to play! Thanks for the shot out and glad to see some of the people behind the resurrection project pop up! They really did a great job. I'll be watching this as I work!!! haha.
Resurrection is my favorite console version. It was great seeing you play a version that was fun for you to play. I get that you like trying out Doom in any form, because it's still Doom, but it's rough when things are so choppy you can't strafe when you want to strafe or something like that.
Yeah Resurrection was cool. The only thing that bothered me was the map. I wish you could move around on the map by default. And I wish the door colors correlated to the same as the map. Like if a door is blue, then it would be blue on the map screen.

I don't think he knows about Berserk punching. Also, he should set his strafing to X,Z mode and then his Xbox controller will have strafing on the L1,R1 shoulder buttons so he can circle strafe around while running firing and opening doors. I just tested it and the turn is so slow that even with better controls setup it still feels sluggish. Also the turn is digital and not analogue so fine tuning is a pain. I ended up using picodrive in Retroarch to play it and it lets you remap everything how you want, so I end up playing it dual analogue style and it's not so bad.
I know about Berzerk punching. I have been doing it since the 90s. I don't like it so I dont use it. I really dislike punching stuff in Doom. @@mikematei Yeah with those Dpad turn controls, moving is a bit sluggish and janky which makes punching more awkward and risky, especially without having the strafe setup to the shoulder buttons or having a dual analogue modern movement setup. It's so funny because even that hack has a less accurate layout of the levels than the SNES version. For example, no pillars in the first room around the stairs. Of all the retro systems, I think only the SNES version has them. Although my favourite old school style Doom is probably Doom 64. Great game.
It looks to me like that first Delta Doom map was the PC version of the map instead of the reduced detail Jaguar version of it found in the 32X port. Probably that's the only difference.

Hey Mike! I’ve seen most of your Doom videos. Have you ever streamed or thought of streaming Doom 3? I was kind of surprised to find out that a lot of people treat that entry like the black sheep of the franchise. Interested in your thoughts.
I appreciate you uploading your DOOM streams to TH-cam, as I can almost never watch them when you first stream them. Would love to see you finish Final Doom someday, especially to see you lose your mind tackling Plutonia’s secret level Go 2 It.
And all was right in the world again, when Mike finally got some good Doom. Hard to watch it in the bad iterations when, like you, I played it on pc first.
I would really like to see a stream of Invader on GBA. I've been trying to look up GBA shooters and that has been the best one I've come across and only because I saw you play it briefly.
Right with you. Born 1990. I was young and late, but DOOM/DOOM II were huge for me. Sure, I sucked ass back then, but these games shaped me, along with DOS games like Crystal Caves, Commander Keen, Jetpack, Xargon, and others. Then DN3D was huge. You should totally experience that. It’s epic, violent, cheesy and fun. A great 3D Realms old FPS. DOOM is more classic, though. And demons can be more fun than aliens sometimes. The world is great. But I love Duke Nukem 3D, along with the first 2 games. TOTALLY different experiences, all amazing. Love to watch DOOM SHIT. Have a great day.
Another cool Doom Stream Mike! I’d like to see Doom II on the GBA. One of only 2 Doom Console games, along with SNES Doom, to use it’s own engine. It plays surprisingly well, a lot better than doom on GBA IMO.
I got the Genesis bundle with NFL Football 94 for Christmas of 94 and I got the 32x either Christmas of 95 or 96 when it was in sale at Best Buy. I got Doom and like 6 other games including Knuckles Chaotix. I still have everything even the boxes from the consoles and complete games all in basically perfect condition. I just never traded games n because I thought it was such a ripoff. I have every system and all the games starting back at NES. We had a Coleco when I was a kid but it went to a yard sale unfortunately

I traded my model 1 Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, 6 button controllers, and all my games in the late 90's at a Gameshop for a used copy of Metal Gear Solid.
Looks and sounds great!
There's even a new mobile game thats coming out by Bethesda Softworks. "Mighty Doom". Looks horrible but who knows... 😆
If you ever do Doom or Doom 2 without free look, and pistol start, be sure to use Berserk. It's your friend against Pinkies the moment you get it until the end of the map. I'd love to see you enjoy a lot of Doom and different Doom wads. You showed me Sunlust, and since then I got into Doom. But, when you played Sunlust it was on Brutal Doom- which was suicide haha. Try it while running normal Doom 2.
Watch my stream today of Doom resurrection. I explain all about the deal with me and berzerk.
@@mikematei Thanks Mike, I'll try to catch it if work finishes on time. Otherwise, I'll catch the vod. I'm always looking to chill to your gameplay, and enjoy your determination to beat games. Anything Doom from you is fun to watch, even to rewatch. Take care, good luck, win!
great video!
I love how they used the Genesis "shadow n highlight" mode to make the Specter
Except that they didn't ;)
@@viciious1234 how'd they do it?
@@franciscojr.millan2102 the same way it's done in the original game - by reading pixel value from the framebuffer and applying a new lighting value to it
@@viciious1234 just figured since genesis 32x can't do transparencies, it was the shadow function
Has Mike played the PlayStation Doom? Believe it's considered one of the best versions.
Hey Mike! I’ve seen most of your Doom videos. Have you ever streamed or thought of streaming Doom 3? I was kind of surprised to find out that a lot of people treat that entry like the black sheep of the franchise. Interested in your thoughts.
I love these, thanks.
Damn. Wish I had four hours. Can only watch about half an hour today.
Will you play the Doom digital pregnancy test port at some point? lol
1188 1:08:24 teletubbies time!
I appreciate you uploading your DOOM streams to TH-cam, as I can almost never watch them when you first stream them. Would love to see you finish Final Doom someday, especially to see you lose your mind tackling Plutonia’s secret level Go 2 It.
Okay so I played Final Doom but didn't finish it huh? I need to do that.
Amazing what they accomplished with doom 32x. Just shows that devs never got the absolute max out of it.
GBA Pinball of the Dead is rather fun. Perhaps a pinball variety stream with Mike or Erin or both?
And all was right in the world again, when Mike finally got some good Doom. Hard to watch it in the bad iterations when, like you, I played it on pc first.
Plz do some more DOOM content Mike! I love it
i will eventually.
@@mikematei thanks Mike we love your content and personality! You have lots of the best content for retro gamers!
Hows the 3 years from now gonna look like can we jump straight to there
Im looking forward to the 3DO and Mac OS ports lol
Never expected Doom.
Hey Mike. It is time to finish ''Winnie the Pooh's Rumbly Tumbly Adventure''. Best regards from Finland.
haha
I would really like to see a stream of Invader on GBA. I've been trying to look up GBA shooters and that has been the best one I've come across and only because I saw you play it briefly.
i feel like the 3DO doom might turn out being the best version. despite people being quick to make fun of the console the 3DO was kind of cool
It has the best music by far.
Doom 32x aka DOOM FARTS
So many Games today Mike looked good
Did you hear about the voxel mod for doom? Been watching cheelo on TH-cam upgrading all the sprites and it looks amazing!
Yeah I have it on my pc
Aye have you ever played the pc game harvester? It’s a awesome ms dos looking horror game. It’d be dope to see what your thoughts are on it
Right with you.
Love this thanks mike 🍻
Thank you so much! Haha
THERE WAS A HOLE HERE. 🕳NOW ITS GONE !
Another cool Doom Stream Mike! I’d like to see Doom II on the GBA. One of only 2 Doom Console games, along with SNES Doom, to use it’s own engine. It plays surprisingly well, a lot better than doom on GBA IMO.
You should do an all secrets run someday.
Michelangelo when are you gonna play any of the call of duty campaigns?
I got the Genesis bundle with NFL Football 94 for Christmas of 94 and I got the 32x either Christmas of 95 or 96 when it was in sale at Best Buy. I got Doom and like 6 other games including Knuckles Chaotix. I still have everything even the boxes from the consoles and complete games all in basically perfect condition. I just never traded games n because I thought it was such a ripoff. I have every system and all the games starting back at NES. We had a Coleco when I was a kid but it went to a yard sale unfortunately
Mike, have you played the "Doom 4 remake"? its the illegal remake with better graphics, can jump and aim in all angles etc. I can send it to you if you dont have it. Its pretty fun
*Banshee Boardwalk
Atari port on new consoles has virtual Atari switches
Please do this with Quake.
hey mike press the jump button to jump
Woulda been bad ass if 32xdoom wasn't rushed n turned out this good. Actually, woulda been ba if games weren't rushed period
Once you finish playing every port of doom, play every hack of doom ever made lol 👍👍
🤣
👍👍
Can someone link to 32x doom resurrection?
🤣I found some Dreamcast homebrew id software mods. doom, Wolfenstein, hexen, heretic.
I think its commendable that you subject yourself to these awful versions of Doom. I can't even play the normal dos version on PC haha
I had an arcade stick for doom. Alot easier to enter the cheats, and i'd turn down the music & listen to Metallica.
24 Hour Dragonheart stream go
😀
😁🇺🇸✌ more doom yes
How dare you make doom videos before this game turns 30 years old! and im joking.
