The driver was on “sale” for literally half the price it is listed at now for half of the last 6 months. PXG has a VERY SOLID value proposition now with DTC pricing, professional fitting, and professional tour validation. They also give a ton back to the military community, first responders, and donate a ton to really important research around PTSD. Anyone who thinks PXG is a “status” brand - well it’s their loss.
I normally hit my driver at 10.5 loft. When I was fitted for the gen 5 I was hitting the ball a little high so we tried a 9°loft and came down to where I was hitting other club drivers with a 10.5° loft. I was really impressed with my numbers back spin was around 2200 the sound was good and the contact feel was very solid . I really enjoyed this club .
You guys are so good in identifying what need to be done and taking time to do that. I went to several well known fitters they don’t do that and they only change head and shaft ….within an hour!
I got fitted at PXG Houston several months ago. Couldn’t fit into the Gen5, just couldn’t find a combination that worked for me. Put the Gen4 in my hand and it was night and day. I don’t love the look of it compared to the Gen5 with it’s pie shaped wedge of carbon fiber but the performance was instant. Ended up adjusting the weights to minimize my right miss as a right handed player. Paired with a tensei AV raw orange 55-X. Absolutely love it. Best part was it was on a huge discount at the time, started off at $220 usd before the shaft upgrade.
PXG have multiple retail stores in the US that are unbelievable. I stopped in one a couple weeks ago just to look around. Three fitting bays / putter fitting. Ton of shaft options. I was impressed. If they have knowledgable fitters its a no brainer to try.
I bought a gently used PXG 0311 XF with a Tensei 55 gm shaft for $200 (did have a fitting). I was playing with the Cobra F9 with a Hazardous shaft (which I was fitted for) for the past 3 years. I have both down to 9.5 degrees. With the PXG I am getting more consistency and distance with this driver. I am now considering purchasing a PXG 3 wood and hybrid. Great video fellas.
PXG in uk fitted me in 7.5 loft and x stiff shaft hazardous … always had a 9 stiff before but this works and I advocate anyone interested to defo get fit for these
I ended up getting fitted for a Gen5 XF Driver and a Gen5 3 fairway after purchasing 0211 Xcor2 irons. The fitting is definitely crucial to getting what works for each individual. Picked up the driver for $390 CDN and $270 for the 3. Fitting done at two places near Vancouver.
Did a fitting in August for the $299 Gen 5. I would have been fine with the XF. But to my surprise and the fitter, the smaller 9 degree head turned up to 10.5 was best. Weight in the heel and a Diamana shaft to lower spin. Fitting is required.
Would loved to get my Gen 2 fitted but I’m nervous bc I’m not a big hitter don’t want to look stupid my strength in golf is my short game from 130 to pin
I got the Gen 5 at 7.5 degrees when they were on sale for $299 and actually switched to a lightweight 45 gram counter balanced shaft that combined with the low loft is working great for me and gained a bit of distance over my old TSI3
I got fit for my Gen 4 X driver and I love it. Just have to keep practicing to improve my face angle to stop being so open. When my face is square, my longest total distance was 280.
Having played PXG clubs for many years at this point, their bread and butter is in the engineering within the irons… I have gen4 0311 p’s which are fantastic. They are not in the realm of the other titans when it comes to woods and drivers. No match for TSR 3 hence I passed on PXGs current offering and game Titleist.
I got the non XF version with the Tensei White in X flex when it was on sale for $300. Once I put the heavy weight in the toe, I was good to go at 9 degrees. It does feel firm, but I gained a few yards over my Rogue SZ, and I gained stability on toe hits. I'm very please, especially given the $300 price.
I just took advantage of the 0311 Gen 5 sale where they were priced at $390 CAD. I had the same problem with spin rate. I ordered the 9 degree and simply can’t keep my backspin below 3000rpm without drastically changing how much I hit up on it. I think I will be returning the 9 degree and testing out the 7.5 degree head instead. Thank you for this video, I never would have even entertained playing a 7.5 degree without see this.
I got fit at the PXG store and ended up with a shaft/loft/lie anglesetup that I NEVER would have picked out if I'd ordered it online. It absolutely blew away my PING G400 Max.
All the more reason to get fit, I personally loved the Cobra LTDX LS 9* turned to 8* and the 0311 7.5 with Ventus Tr black 5x knocked it out the bag. I was so shocked and impressed. “kabooom” 😂
Tried the Gen5 0311 in a 9* head Hzrdus Black RDX 6.5, loved the looks at address. Just spun way to much for me, dropped loft down to 8* didn't really help much, fairway finder, but 15 yards shorter than my gamer. Sent back to PXG for a refund. Taylormade SIM back in the bag. Thanks guys.
Purchased my Gen 5 for £249 in the uk in august brand new! Feel and sound much better than my Gen 4. Ended up using the weights from my Gen 4 as even though I would middle the ball often, it never seemed to go anywhere. Big improvement with change of weight… maybe spin lowered. … love it now and Lloyd at PXG is always on hand if I need any advice.. customer service is second to none ..
I have a gen5 xf driver ( 9 deg) and 3 wood, they’ve been a bit of a learning experience. My initial fitting had extra toe weighting to give a fade bias as I tend to hook the ball. After a few range sessions I went back for a free “ tune up” because I was pushing almost every shot right, so it is now set up for a draw bias. Much improved ball flight , consistently straight, though I can’t really say it’s significantly longer than my old 9 deg Ping. You can’t beat the customer service and pricing, the first responder discount was a nice surprise too.
My dad ended up getting the 10.5 degree XF and it looked fairly lofted tbh for a 10.5. He actually ended up lofting it up to 11° and the ball really does roll out a lot with it. However his carry isn’t as far as his old driver.
A few months ago these drivers were on a crazy sale - $375 Canadian! Had a few friends that bought them because they couldn't pass up on the price. That's the thing with PXG, you know that if you don't like the price, just wait a bit and you will find a deal.
@@krusher74 one got sent the wrong shaft (Graphite Design) and liked it so much he sold his new Taylormade. The other is alright enough that he played with it the rest of the season (at a lower loft than usual);he may try a different shaft next year.
May of 2022 I got fit for a Gen 5 driver and in the hitting bay I ordered a 9 degree loft. The fitter suggested I come back after a few rounds and he adjusted it to 8 degrees. Consistency went up along with distance.
I’ve mostly got a full bag of pxg (minus putter and lob wedge) love them, but their pricing is super random. I got this gen 5 for £250, last week it was £429 today it’s £629. Seems to change hourly
Thanks for the review, I've been waiting for this one since I got my Gen5 driver when they were on sale in August or September. I needed your confirmation, LOL. Same thing happened during my fitting, and actually went back for a second to confirm. I got fit into the 0311 7.5 degree with the Ventus Black 6S. I was coming out of a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero 9 degree turned down to 8 degree with the Aldila Rogue White shaft. I fight high launch and high spin. I thought there's no way I could use a 7.5 degree driver but it works for me. The weight configuration that works for me is the heavy weights in the toe and back with the light weight in the heel. It feels like I'm slinging that heavy weight around the corner through the ball and it's nice when I strike high toe. This Gen5 is the best driver I've ever owned/used. I'm using it on a lot of tees that I never would have before. It goes pretty straight and doesn't have the big miss left or right. I do have to give credit to the Ventus Black shaft, it feels incredible and it just works.
I have the Gen5 0311. not the XF. So the thing I found for myself, is that I have it set at 9 degrees standard. But I have the Tensei AV White in a 75 Gram X-Stiff. The issue I had was that the shaft was so robust that I couldn't feel where the head was. I ended up taking lead tape to the head, and started testing it till I found a head weight that worked for me, took off the tape, weighed it on a scale, and ended up ordering the individual weights to add to the head. (it ended up being 30g heavier than the stock setup) but for "fitting" myself it ended up working really well for me, and for the speed that I swing at. I can average around 185 ball speed, and it'll carry 320-330. I'm not a professional fitter, I just watch you guys a lot and take notes when you're fitting drivers.
Being in the northern half of the hemisphere, it has always been a challenge to even get a chance to see the PXG lineup never mind try them. They do look like something a person should definitely try when shopping for new product if possible.
I wish you would try different weights and counter balance shafts, it'll be longer. Also , just because Matt's shaft works in a Titleist, Callaway etc it doesn't mean it will work with PXG'S or another brand. If that were the case, manufacturers will be selling us new shafts every year instead of Drivers. I liked the video like always.
As one of you guys would say " interesting ". This year I went to a senior shaft ( VA composite 43 gram Rajin ) from a Regular ( VA Composite 55 gram Vylyn ) and then had to turn down the loft in my Cobra Speed Zone extreme from 10.5 to 9.0 to get a very desirable flight, interesting indeed. Good video guys, love it.
Great video, but I understood that PXG was good for fitting average golfers who strike down (iron strike with the driver). I wonder if this could make a big difference to the choice. Would be great to see an average golfer who strikes down on the driver hit it.
Interesting my friend has a new Calloway and struggles with consistency and hitting fairways! Borrowed his mate PXG and hits it so straight! But also gave up some distance but this didn’t bother him
Just for funsies, any chance to pull up the old 0211 & new 0211 to compare? (I picked up the old 0211 for 200$ cdn shipped tax incl. at end of summer). Knew specs I wanted. 10.5 (down to 9.75 - a bit open to be close it agressivlely) with stiff shaft (feels soft). Good dispersion imrpvement vs my Triton (which was closed) & a bit of a yardage bump (3-4 yds). Very happy, but curious if the big price difference on 0311 (780$ cdn+) or on 0211 (390$ cdn. +) bring significant increases vs old 0211.
I have always been a fan of PXG irons. I just don't feel their woods are hot enough off the face. I have even noticed that pros that play their clubs a lot of them don't play the driver
I feel like the crew is tiptoeing around in this review. Being brand agnostic is the ideal when it comes to club fitting, however, since the relationship between pxg and txg is newer they don’t want to go full rip into pxg in fear they might burn a bridge if they say the wrong thing.
A few days ago these were priced at £329 in the U.K. they are now priced at £629. I game PXG irons and was considering a Gen5 driver and fairway but at £100 more than a TSR2 there is no chance. I do question how these clubs can vary so much in price literally overnight.
Considered them when they were at the £329 mark, but at £629 there’s absolutely no chance. Guaranteed they’ll have a “massive sale” at some point before Christmas and it’ll be down to £390 as if that’s some amazing sale
they will drop closer to Xmas back to $299 US or something around there. they have a tendency to move the price points around with little to no notice.
Wow noticed the other day went from £469 I think to £329. To then go to £629 that's odd. Currently have a gen 4 XT still working it out but it's decent. Was hoping at some point to get a steal on a Gen5 as the head looks way better but may be a while I think.
Same issue for me, Can't keep the spin down, or the Launch, dropped the loft from 9 to 7.5, now have to manage the face more due to it being open.. Not Great.
@@dronepocket325 I don’t need to get fit to them, I’ve seen enough to know they aren’t too 5 in the market. And yes, I’ve been a club fitter for a number of years, so I get my hands on plenty of equipment. Thanks though!
@@dronepocket325 I disagree. You’re the one mad that I don’t like PXG 🤷🏼♂️ In my experience, I’ve never seen a customer bring me their current PXG driver and not be able to best it’s performance with another driver from a top 4 or 5 OEM. Either way, your opinion won’t change anything I do. Best of luck 👍🏻
I don’t understand how they expect to compete with the bigger brands, when there driver takes so much to get right , also with a hard sound and feel, and lower ball speed , especially when it’s the same price as the top brands, I think pxg will not sell many of these drivers
Having to turn the loft down to 7.5 deg just makes it less forgiving with respect to spin axis, so likely increase in left/right dispersion and miss more fairways. I understand you guys have to be diplomatic and not can things, but this is a definite miss for me by PXG. Maybe their 0211 is not only cheaper, but better?
Thats a loss leader, look how much it got the world talking about PXG. now they are hoping from the hype people will buy clubs they actually make money on.
At 4.50 into the video you say you cannot adjust the loft and lie on these drivers , that is not correct you can. Nor did you even attempt to flatten the lie or adjust the weights in the head. Test the club properly and use the adjustment sleeve and and the weights, hell even stretch yourselves and try a few shafts. After all isn't that what TXG is all about. PXG make quality products and they are every bit as good as other OEMS if not better but you guys do not seem to want to give them a fair go. Bet if it was a TM driver, Cobra or Titleist you would have made more effort and used the adjustability of the club. You guys say you are not biased towards any brand but it clearly shows what brands you favour by the way they get bigger and better and more in depth reviews and you make more effort to get the most out of them. Didn't see that type of effort here. Wonder why that was........
I’ve never heard of a high swing speed player getting along with PXG clubs. They have been terrible when I’ve tried them. I wouldn’t even bother testing them if you are above 105 mph ss.
My swing speed is around 105 and I crush my gen 4 PXG. I don’t get on with titleist or Calloway at all. Tried them the other day. Was either hooking or slicing. Hit my PXG and right back to baby draw
0311 XF is the "extra forgiving" version and has a longer club face from heel to toe and stretched out crown, the 0311 has a higher club face from top to bottom and the crown is slightly domed
Hey TJ. I think if we had stopped at testing the 9degree we’d have been pretty disappointed. Reality is I don’t think the final numbers with the 7.5 degree would have been beaten by another company. It was just a different head to work with than others we have tried.
I did a huh when Ian said $780 or $790, pulled up the website and I was shocked that the price has been upped to $780. At that price point, the world is your oyster in terms of other brands. Personally I refuse to pay that much for a driver none of them are worth it.
I wonder if it's because their stock is poor and they are waiting for more to come in so to not have long lead times and may come down once more stock comes in? No idea. Glad I got Gen4 @ £209 recently.
Man, y'all just gotta come down south and take advantage of the weather and exchange rates/CONUS pricing! Plenty of tee times in Central Florida right now! (after the hurricane clears out!)
At their base price, I would’ve never considered them. But with my being a veteran and a first responder, the discount made them cheaper than all the big brands. Gave them a try and they’re in the bag
Any chance you might do a test and review of the latest XXIO drivers? They have usually been regarded as very expensive clubs mainly for crotchety old seniors and women with deep pockets and slow swings who have trouble elevating the ball. However, while they do serve that market, I think that they also have clubs that may very well suit more skilled golfers. For example, the 2022 X black driver with its adjustable hosel that allows changes in loft, lie and face open, closed or neutral. They offer Miyazaki AX-II shafts in 46 gram stiff and 43 gram regular (I have also seen a S/R flex in 44 grams). This shaft uses TORAYCA® T1100G carbon fiber with an advanced NANOALLOY® resin matrix. When I looked up Miyazaki shafts, up came a Srixon page with models of varying specs that use the International Flex Code (IFC) four quadrant system that I am pretty sure you are familiar with. Srixon of course owns XXIO. When I looked up TORAYCA T1100G I got the site of the manufacturer of the pre-preg in case you want to buy the raw material. Next I got proschoicegolfshafts dot com which informed me that this material is exactly what is used by Graphite Design in its excellent high end shafts like the Tour AD IZ 6 shaft in my Callaway Epic GBB Sub Zero driver. The Tour AD IZ 6 weighs 63 grams, so is heavier than the bespoke shafts XXIO uses, but it seems clear that these XXIO shafts are serious. The IFC code on the XXIO Miyazaki AX-11 Stiff shaft is 4533, which means S/R at the butt end 36 inches from the tip, S at 26 inches from the tip, R at 16 inches from the tip, and R at 6 inches from the tip. This is clearly not rebar stiff, but it is not a whippy all A flex either. The owner of the range I go to said that the 2022 XXIO X black driver is a good choice for a skilled player who either with age has lost some speed, or who wants to focus more on a smoother swing tempo yet still get height and distance. The other day at the range I found myself next to a tall lanky senior banging out long high drives with a XXIO MP1010 8.5 degree stiff driver he bought on eBay. He said this current driver is a Titleist, but he bought this to see what it was all about. Said here, try it, which I did. I had to focus on a smooth swing with a pause in the transition, but found that it hit high and what appeared to be long drives. I concluded it was time not to look down my nose at XXIO clubs. So I hope that you guys might be able to test the 2022 XXIO drivers , maybe both the black X and the lighter MP12 with the 41 gram stiff shaft (IFC profile 3322).

Got a gen 5 12 degree with the kuro Kage shaft and had spin at 1900 with a swing speed around 80
If you want to hit fairways, PXG is the way to go IMO
Properly fit it’s as stable as anything
Great review on these drivers but can do a review on the fairway wood s?
Could it be that they assume that most dtc customers could actually use more loft than they think so these heads are designed around that idea?
I wonder if TXG measure all these heads for actual loft again advertized.
They have Ping DNA, and Ping were notorious for this.
Tried to enter the 200k giveaway and it just keeps saying your entry has be intercepted by anti spam????
Same issue for me, Can't keep the spin down, or the Launch, dropped the loft from 9 to 7.5, now have to manage the face more due to it being open.. Not Great.
Check out the Black Friday sale
Ian, you sound like you’re either under the weather or had a crazy night with the lads. Either way, feel better bud!
Wish it was a crazy night out D K!!!
I’ve always liked PXG irons, but never woods or their driver!
Do you guys ever measure the actual loft of drivers you test? Perhaps there's some QC issues...
Almost all retail drivers will measure 0.5-1 degree over what's stamped on the head.
Years ago one manufacturers 7deg might be anothers 8 or 8.5 or even 6, i don't know if that is still the case but do you guys cross check lofts?
Got Gen 5 driver 6 months ago for $325 Canadian!!
These were on sale last month and a few days ago. Oh well. $390 Canadian.
I would not Buy DTC for any Clubs. Need to be able to see all the Data and Compare to all of the Clubs you’re Testing.
Need 0211 iron review
I don’t understand how they expect to compete with the bigger brands, when there driver takes so much to get right , also with a hard sound and feel, and lower ball speed , especially when it’s the same price as the top brands, I think pxg will not sell many of these drivers
Ian enjoying a few too many Marlboro's and scotches lately? 🤪
Nice
Having to turn the loft down to 7.5 deg just makes it less forgiving with respect to spin axis, so likely increase in left/right dispersion and miss more fairways. I understand you guys have to be diplomatic and not can things, but this is a definite miss for me by PXG. Maybe their 0211 is not only cheaper, but better?
The gen 2 driver was £129 last week in the UK it's sold out
Thats a loss leader, look how much it got the world talking about PXG. now they are hoping from the hype people will buy clubs they actually make money on.
That was the old generation of the 0211 on sale. I picked up a 5 wood for £109. Amazing.
What the difference between the two?
0311 XF is the "extra forgiving" version and has a longer club face from heel to toe and stretched out crown, the 0311 has a higher club face from top to bottom and the crown is slightly domed
you guys are very polite to dance around it but it seems PXG just isnt on the level of some other manufacturers.
Hey TJ. I think if we had stopped at testing the 9degree we’d have been pretty disappointed. Reality is I don’t think the final numbers with the 7.5 degree would have been beaten by another company. It was just a different head to work with than others we have tried.
£299 in the uk right now
I paid $299 for gen 5 driver. 780???
Total or peak height fellas?
Ian sounds like Barry White. As for price, this thing was never $700. It’s always been around $349
I did a huh when Ian said $780 or $790, pulled up the website and I was shocked that the price has been upped to $780. At that price point, the world is your oyster in terms of other brands. Personally I refuse to pay that much for a driver none of them are worth it.
PXG should have stuck with premium irons...
Driver In UK over 600 quid now
Pound is weak to the dollar, they mayb did not expect many sales in the uk as fucked up with the exchange rate as it tanked.
@@krusher74 a few months ago it was 250 pounds last week 329
I wonder if it's because their stock is poor and they are waiting for more to come in so to not have long lead times and may come down once more stock comes in? No idea. Glad I got Gen4 @ £209 recently.
sound like ping 425
ian sounding like he got covid
If, for some reason, I can't have Mizuno irons, my next stop will be PXG.
Ian, you need to gargle with some Iron Brew to soothe that throat of yours👍👍
🤒!! Agreed Irn Bru will do the job.
Test shows that these drivers are not competitive
Frazz you don’t sound too well pal 😞 Guys you did a good job of being polite but really, the product doesn’t stack up against strong competition
FYI, that is NOT the price.
We were on the Website last night during filming, I can assure you that IS the price in CAD.
Man, y'all just gotta come down south and take advantage of the weather and exchange rates/CONUS pricing! Plenty of tee times in Central Florida right now! (after the hurricane clears out!)
Also, wondering if TH-cam analytics shows you where the majority of subscribers are from? Canuckistan/US/UK/etc?
Not sure what's going on at PXG. £629 today ,yet £249 2 months ago...that's bizarre. I'm not sure if it's winning them any fans?
why have a human robot test the club
Ian’s sexy voice
🤣🤣🤣!!
Ian is losing his voice!
Maybe he’s regaining his voice 😂
all the shouting at mikey, lol
😂 he talks too much in the day!
Still laughing at the people with PXG bags and clubs that want to belong. Just inferior PINGs for those of you born yesterday. 😂
At their base price, I would’ve never considered them. But with my being a veteran and a first responder, the discount made them cheaper than all the big brands. Gave them a try and they’re in the bag
What an ignorant, elitist comment
@@ryanwalters694 just another thing they copied from PING
@@andrewc5202 you don’t know what ignorant or elitist means. Clearly. 😬🤦♂️😂
They look good but it’s obvious they’re slightly behind on ball speed.
claim they are the best and simply arnt.
They are really good…
@@krusher74 you believe you're intelligent too, don't you. Simply you aren't.
@@krusher74 so what do you play? Since you have the best. Lol.
