I think the reason the train armor isn't always active is because it gives the passengers the impression that it's needed all the time, which could make people worry. Normally it wouldn't be necessary, but there were some not normal things going on.
Plus the armor covers the windows, can't watch the landscape go by :(
Maybe it would increase drag and lower fuel efficiency to have the armor on all the time, too. *shrug*
Well, I'm not sure if it would have physically negative effects (like Jaune's shield, the weight doesn't go away), but I just think that normally, people (at least city folk) don't think about the Grimm that often. They think they're safe. So an armored train, with covered windows, would just be a constant reminder that "oh hey, this is actually dangerous", which would just attract Grimm, which then would both cement that thought, along with coupling it with the "Oh shit, we're gonna die!" thought.
At the very least, it should have been activated eminently once the train was under attack. Like before they climbed the roof of the train.

I would describe myself as a pretty casual RWBY fan, but I have to say that I love how passionate you are about it. One of my favorite things to see is just unbridled enthusiasm and you’ve got it in spades.

Ilia's new outfit was cuteness overload - I knew you were going to flip over it the moment I saw it and it's for good reason. As you stated - it's a hybrid of Blake's new and "Intruder" outfits, but with Ilia's own spin added, which is a great touch. I must say, even if it was the wrong tree, I can't blame Neptune for trying since he wasn't aware of her preference (seriously, dear god is she super cute in that scene, like... my god...). My only problem with Neptune was the fact that Weiss was literally right below them and last we knew, he was all about her.
He hasn't seen or heard from Wiess in almost a year. I was a little disappointed he didn't go for Wiess either, but it's understandable, especially since Wiess is leaving again, and Ilia seems to be sticking around. Still, "Wrong Tree" is a good ship name for Neptune x Ilia.
I'm not sure he was "all about her." He was kind of into her like a year ago, but even then he was flirting with team NDGO. And then he tried to fight off a massive terrorist attack. I can understand how their relationship would be forgotten after all the other stuff that's happened to both of them and all the time that's passed.
It's Neptune, pretty girl and he'll bark, lol.

So was I, from the moment I first saw it. Neptune may have had his "wrong tree" moment, but I can't blame him - Ilia was already cute, the new outfit just ramped up her cuteness to overload.

Also Yang was once punched through several concrete pillars, and that didn’t even break her aura. The fact this guy got physically damaged is amazing.

@@alexsikar6814 Adam is the core of the problem in the relationship between the two of them. He is why Blake fled to Menagerie, and why Yang is missing her arm. They really need a good sit down to work this out - as evidenced by Blake going to help Yang with her bag - feelings of guilt. That was such a good moment.

The smaller Grimm are called Manticores while the larger one was called a Sphinx.
I had a thought tho. With Team SSSN going to Shade academy, does this mean we might see team CFVE too? In the recently announced RWBY novel, team CFVE are at Shade Academy lending support, so its possible we may see a reunion there too.
No, the larger Grimm wasn't a Sphinx, it was a Chimera. You can tell from the snake it has for a tail.

Both chimeras and sphinxes are described with serpent tails, though the chimera has a third head and isn't usually depicted with wings. A non-human sphinx head seems like less of a stretch.

@@DristanRossVII only reason I said Sphinx was because during the RWBY panel of RTX London, they announced two new grimm, Manitcores and a Sphinx. That's why I think it was a sphinx mainly because CRWBY said there was going to be one. Plus RWBY will take some of their own liberties when it comes to designing Grimm, just because it doesn't look exactly like the mythological version, doesn't mean they didnt take inspiration from it.

I went for a little review of my memory (really should've done it before posting) and was reminded that both sphinxes and chimeras have serpent tails in mythology, so I corrected my comment and now agree with you on the Sphinx thought. Especially in light of the new info you just added :)

Honestly Duddley's arm should have been basically gone, not just broken.
I agree that the personalized movement of each character came through beautifully this episode/season. I remember their body language being shown in Volume 1, but it wasn't like it is now. Nora teleporting, Ruby being bouncy and hyper, Yang carrying herself with confidence and sass, Weiss being proper and grace, etc. I just love it so much. It's adding to their personalities so much.

Probably Aura. He is a huntsman after all. Even if a low tier one.
Aura. Weiss took a chainsaw sword directly to the neck and survived basically without a scratch. His aura protected him from losing his arm, but it was still broken.
Yeah apparently aura can let yang survive getting smashed through a concrete Freeway (?) support, so I guess RT goes, "Eh, let's make it gory here, and minor there." :/
@@BlaireRabbit1440 I mean different huntsman have different levels of control over their aura. It's pretty clear that these guys were bottom of the barrel, but while his aura didn't completely stop the injury it did reduce the severity.
16:05 - Actually, if the Grimm are attracted to the Relic, then Oscar taking it on top of the train might've been a good thing, as it'd keep the Grimm more focused up there, as opposed to tearing through the walls - and passengers - to get to it.
I'm fairly certain those were each the previous Oz's. Leading up to Ozpin and now Oscar, though he's becoming more Ozcar. Ozpin explained that he is the combination of countless lives and memories. So he's not 1 person anymore, he's however many incarnations he's lived. All of those personalities blended together to make the man we know today, and probably sooner rather than later Oscar will also be in that blend. I'm certain that at some point, Oscar is going to realize he stopped hearing Ozpin a long time ago, and it's just him now. Ozcar
The combat seemed slower because they had to be careful not to fall off the train. They get their speed from use of recoil from their weapons, but one wrong shot and they would be launched right off.
nah, it is the fact that the animation has come a long way that's contributing to the fact that the individual character quirks are more noticeable because I noticed them right away and I have maybe 0.5% experience at most with animation.
Also, so glad that I'm able to see your reactions this volume too, I mean just seeing someone else fangirling/boying over rwby like me just makes my day so much better no matter whats been going on.

It seems as if you would have forgotten(as far we know for now), that Ozpin was apparently the one who gifted the first maidens with their magical powers, which could be a possibility why there's a statue of him..
Maybe not so much for that, but a past incarnation of him. He was cursed by the gods to reincarnate in the body of a like-minded soul and said he was "a combination of countless men". Who knows what deeds he accomplished during his many lives.
@@theycallmebad true, but that's not exactly what I meant. It sounded during the reaction as if he "only" was the headmaster of beacon and that wouldn't justify a statue of him. I meant only to point out that he was also the wizard of the tale about the four seasons which kinda would justify a statue of him. I'm quite aware of his curse to reincarnate in the body of a like-minded soul. I've seen theories about that he might have been the last king of vale, which also would justify a statue of him. And I personally think that the Wizard who gifted the maidens with their magical powers was the "original" Ozpin and that would mean there are probably hundreds of possibilities why there is a statue of oz and not "just" because he used to be a headmaster. Maybe I should have been a bit more specific in the comment I wrote yesterday.
In reference to Dudley's arm, that was the first hit he took during the entire fight and, despite his idiocy, he is a fully trained Huntsman. This means he had all of his aura remaining to protect his arm.

I was just happy Black Sun finally got something after how badly she treated him the last two seasons. Really want this season to save Blake for me as the last two did their damage to her.
Also Arryn to answer your question they keep the protection off as it can cause negative emotion and worry. Where the more pleasant looking one looks more relaxing. I think that's how it works.

This is why i have so much respect for sun... When he replied to neptune that it was never about him pursuing romance with blake he followed her because he saw that she was running away from a problem alone and that she needed a Friend.. not a lover...
They don't have it on all the time because Grimm aren't supposed to be around all the time, and the idea is for a train ride like to be relaxing. How relaxed would you be if there are canons active, giant metal bars over your windows, and plating on the sides of the cars? Which, ironically, draws more Grimm.
So, if Yang grabbed Adam by the horns, what would that be?
The fighting movements are slower now but I think it's to make up for the floating of the characters in Volume 4 and 5 with the few fights we got. I like the slower paced fighting they did this episode because they can't recreate the great fast fight choreography from Monty but they can develop their own slower paced fights and come into their own more.
I completely agree. These slower fights also obeyed the laws of physics a lot better, and you could see some of the "pillars of Monty" (as per that one video circulating on TH-cam) in the fights. They had rhythm and purpose, and the hits had weight to them. For the first time in a long time, it felt like a low tier Monty fight. I doubt it'll ever be full scale Monty, but I think that they've got something good going for them.
Honestly, you can say the same with Red vs Blue. Nothing compares to Monty's choreography in seasons 8, 9, and 10, but the fight scenes in season 13 are still really cool, and a lot more grounded.

-best villain adam is once again having his metamorphis development.(god i love this guy)
-people think that since we've gotten the sun back from the moon and the eclipse isn't out that it's safe for the bees to come out they've hives. (not)
-jaune is going to beat up oscar/ozpin which is understandable.
and jaune is clearly going through something this dude literally with begging eyes told rwby "come back to us" he's had one too many people disappear on him and never come back....also renora...nice..even nora wants the beach episode.
p.s : poor qrow..he's probably not had a stiff drink since haven and that martini was his last chance...i wonder if in the series chapters and seasons so far we'll see him quit.
He chose not to drink after he found out the huntress he was looking for was also missing in V5. It shows the possibility of him quiting.

I was completely losing my shit when I saw qrow start breaking out the scythe. As with the speed, aside from Yang's slide (she was running so slow and then sped up while sliding which is like wat?) was very very good in making the combat seem more real and dynamic. All actions had good weight behind them and the actions themselves reflected good martial arts in whatever style the characters practiced. Creativity in dismembering grimm (looking at your ruby) gives me happiness. Basically nutted when I saw the scythe duo.

Ruby actually looks like a leader. Instead of bickering, she knew what mattered at this moment was not to argue about Ozpin but to keep the people and the train safe.
She was the only one who had this sense at that moment while the others were about to let their emotions cloud themselves.

In regards to Ilya she'll be working side-by-side with Kira in Kali filling the void of their daughter being gone and it also mirrors the fact that her parents are gone so in a way everyone fulfills missing roles

If I'm not mistaken the lead grim in this one was a Chimera; lion head, snake tail, fire breathing, all that was missing is the goat body and depending on the media two extra heads with the lion. (Although it could've been a goat body hard to tell since all grim have black and white color palettes.
The small Grimm were Manticores (wings, lion head and scorpion tail) and the big one was a Sphinx (feline body, wings, almost humanoid head and snake for a tail).
This came out 3 days ago and I haven't been able to find the youtube version of the whole episode so I waited till I could watch it on RT's site. I just finished that 4 minutes ago and now I get to watch this!!! So happy!

the not having armor all the time may be that people would be more nervous in a train with bars in front of the windows attracting more grim. once you are already under attack its probably not that big of a deal if you are already under attack because feelings are tense anyway

I like that they keep improving the, well ,everything in each volume and im sure they'll keep doing it even tho for me its perfect right now.

finally someone like me, the opening theme got me too, omg finally thank god also the violin music throughout the episode in the emotional moments touched my heart, the vocals and camera work when ren masks the train, this whole episode made me emotional and I wanna find out why

I'd say the reason they don't use the armour and turrets constantly is because they use a lot of power to keep them running. It probably isn't but that's the most logical explanation I could think off
