    Hey to those who posted criticism over on Facebook, just because something is a gift, doesn't mean the receiver is obligated to talk it up. The great thing about folks like Buckin is this all is coming from the heart, agree or disagree, right or wrong. He's just telling what he see's, feel's, and interprets. Honest. Wish more were like that.

    394 pulls way harder you could hear it when he dug the dogs in. I'm 34 an love running tho older huskies. Those high backs suck to file for sure. Idk the new saws are nice but there different I run 565 at work stock but qt home I got a Older 395 were both born around same years lol and they just are different animal. Plus I hate how the new huskies brake system is. Idk how many times I take the side cover off an some how the brake get activated an you will never get that side cover on till the brake is off. Idk if im the only one who run into that numerous times but i never had that problem on the older saws cause not only did the brake never pop on if it did the handle an brake system is all together so it easy to pop off the brake it it did happen. On the new models you gotta like hold the sides together as tight as possible have plastic part line up sounds like a failure point to me

    In all fairness a stock 288 was lazy! There were substantial gains in rattler’s build! Good job! 394’s were in a class of their own! A stock 288 didn’t come anywhere near them! This shows what ported saws can really do! Great vid!

      I have a ported 460 Rancher 24" and am looking at going with a bigger bar on it. Dream of the day when my firewood gets me enough to go a bit bigger. My goal is to have a few strong saws that can hold 30"+ bars in the big wood without bogging. Most the trees I deal with are 18-26" but still running across a few maples that I drop for folks that push 46"+ at the butt so a reliable strong engine with say a 32" bar would make my life so much easier. My firewood cutting and tree cutting still in the hobby phase for now though so gotta play it smart.

    That 394 sounds like it has a lot of work done to it. I have a low top 288xp with some mild port work and it runs good in hardwoods, but nothing like a worked over 390 or 394/395. The 390 is a 372’s bigger bruiser brother and with the right work runs better than the mythical 288xp or 395 without the extra weight.
    So what’s all done to the 394? It sounds too Barky for a muffler mod and some polishing.

  • @vtrombly
    @vtrombly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In all fairness IMHO there is speed and practicality. To be honest 288s are not a speed demon by any means but that's not really where they shine. Really really big wood is where this saw does the most damage. The seventh mount is designed to help with extremely long bars, 7 pin rim in huge wood this torque monster really out lasts where other saws bog. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race. I have been personally up against extremely large cottonwood, oak and others, while not in a battle of the axes for say this was in a work setting and we were trying to get the job done. And this saw lumbered on where others were sticking and bogging. Sometimes in my opinion at least, time is secondary to the work to be preformed when I need it. Do I lug around my 288 for limbing and bucking normally no. But I do put it in the truck when I know there is some ridiculous tree that needs to be bucked up yeah. But what this really is is a conversation. As long as everyone can be happy with the gift of being able to make their own beliefs on what they like or don't like. I happen to be partial to a 288 but like you I have a buddy that his grandfather used one in the Canadian military and was his go to saw for years after. He was a good man, a World War 2 Vet, and demands our respect and this is how I choose to honor him and remember him by. Sometimes sentimental feelings about a saw outweigh the performance vs another. At the end of the day they are all worldly possessions that honestly I would give up all my saws regardless to make my Wife's health better. Family comes first. Merry Christmas Happy New Year.

    At the end of the day the old saying rings true. Port work or not, there's no replacment for displacement. Both saws sound great and props to the builders. I would take 394 all day but would be happy with either, honestly. Thanks for the great vids buckin 🤙

    The 288 and the 394 share the same crankshaft same stroke, so the only real difference is the cylinder design

    I have run both a 394 and 288 walkerized and the 288 is still my favourite

    The 394 gave the 288 it’s lunch money, because it felt bad for the lil fellah! Can’t beat a 394 or a 395. Love my 395, they’re monsters. They Pull hard when you need it in the big wood! Thanks for another great vid buckin!

    If you look really closely.. when buckin is readying the saws on his tailgate, those trees in the background have beads of sweat popping out on them. Each of them doing their absolute best, to appear smaller than they really are,and hoping to the tree gods he dont want to build something where they stand

    Awesome video Buckin, I LOVE my 394!

    I always preferred the way a 288 felt and bulk wise they are smaller than a 394 ! We did run 394’s on huge hard maple and red oak !

    Great video Buckin. I haven't gotten to watch near as often, because I switched jobs. I am out working with my hands and sweating all day now, where as before I had alot of idle time as a driver in construction. I love your content as always. Like you said, it feels great to get out and do physical work, and have lost a bunch of weight by doing so. Keep bringing that positivity and love. 🤘🌳🪓

    Awesome video Buckin. I was having a hard time changing out my 36" bar and chain on my Husky 395 XP. I also have a 32" bar and chain. Great tip thank you for showing and explaining the proper way to change out the bar and chain. I knew I was doing something wrong. Working on my hand filing. Kindness is a better path in life my friend.

    Nice video the old 394 and the 288 were with in fraction of a sec. the 94 would tear it apart if had half the work done to it as the 88

    Heh! HEh!! A few seconds may make a difference in competition. Yet, wouldn't you think a well tuned reliable and sharp reliable saw that works daily would be the most important.
