I'm late to watching this one but this is exactly what we found... We both picked the 6 year over the new one as well. It's mind blowing. Sarah's reaction to finding out put this video over the top of awesomeness! Cheers you two, this was a great video!
I liked this video but how can you “sideways thumb” this thing when it didn’t even blind better than the $15 counterpart? Blasphemy!!! But I do love the vids and thank you for the content
Here in NY after sales tax you're looking at $56.14 out the door. Now the 80 proof Quality House Heaven Hill Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is only $21.58 for a 1.75L handle out the door and I do like it for mixers on weekdays.
When I first uncorked the HH 7 YR BiB I was a bit disappointed. The first couple of pours in the first couple of days had me thinking that perhaps I'd made a $40 mistake. BUT...once I revisited it a few weeks later I was pleasantly surprised. The heat and alcohol had dissipated and the sweetness had elevated and it had become very smooth, but still had a nice spicy/ cinnamon kick on the finish. It's become one I really like now, but it seems to need some time to breathe and open up.
So I checked out a local liquor store near my place in Northern New York and stumbled upon a bottle of this 7 year Heaven Hill and I actually like it a lot, although I think Henry McKenna 10 year is still my favorite.
I love it!! total blinds are fantastic! I have been totally blown away on some that I have done... So wish I could get my hands on both of those.. Cheers!
It’s now 2024, and just noticed it here in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It’s about $49. It may have been on our shelf longer, but I just noticed it. I like it. Happy that I bought it. Smoother than some other 100 proofs that I’ve had. No regrets at paying the price.
I noticed at about 10:50 that y’all may have switched the glasses. Chad puts his right hand on the glass closest to the camera while Sara mirrors that move by placing her left hand on the glass closest to the camera. When the glasses are moved into place, those glasses are on Sara’s left and Chad’s right. So when Chad says to start with the glass on the left, it appears that you’re tasting different versions. 🤷🏻♂️ Btw, the 7yr is now allocated in Colorado.
Thanks for your stunner review! As always, you all are so entertaining! I just bought the BiB 7 year here in Illinois for $35. I had a six year which I finished over a year ago. Now I wish I drank it a lot slower (dang) but at $12 at Rite Aid it was such a no-brainer, easy pour. Maybe after the HH 7 yr opens up it’ll shine.
LOL at the results. Something similar happened to me. I actually did find a Henry McKenna 10yr on the shelf for $40 a week after paying $41.49 for HHBIB7. I did both blind with Evan Williams BIB(3 BIB's from HH) and got all 3 wrong, LOL. When I blind a BT vs HH product, I always can pick them out, but it gets hard when doing 2 or more from same distillery and mashbill. I will probably keep all 3 on the shelf, but the EW will be the one I pour more often for sure just based on value.
Very interesting - but since they are not making the 6 year ever gain and it was not available in NY anyway - I will go with the 7yr which is available here for $38 - I think it is very tasty and a good deal.
So, I literally just bought this HH BIB 7r today in Colorado and am sipping along with this video. Fun way to watch your review, by joining in!. OBTW $49.99 at Dave CO. Thorton CO.
I just opened this after seeing this... I got it at costco around Christmas time for like $34 (also got a McKenna BIB for $27.99 there 3 weeks ago before the run on toilet paper in CA ;))... long story short... I think its great. I am doing a tasting fundraiser for kids school - all 100 proof or BIB... Col Taylor Single Barrel, Heaven Hill, Knob Creek, Old Forester, 1792 BIB... I think that Heaven Hill will go nicely. Might throw in WT 101 to close for fun.
I wish I could find rare breed for in the 40s you guys are lucky. It’s more like 60 or so from my area. So oh boy I can’t wait to see how much that Heaven Hill is if it ever gets to Jersey. cheers!
I noticed at about 10:50 y’all may have mixed your glasses. Chad puts his right hand on the glass closest to the camera while Sara mirrors that move by putting her left hand on the glass closed to the camera. When the glasses are moved into place, they are opposite.
I'm not surprised by your result. A friend and I did a (non-blind) side by side of these and we both preferred the 6yr. Then we threw in EW BiB and that showed very well too. Pretty close to the 6yr. So, (at least for now) the 6yr lives on...
I was able to get a Evan Williams Bottled & Bond for 19 this week. But I would say pay a little more for 90 proof Weller Special Reserve. Because the note's are almost the same. But Weller's is spiky in all the right ways.
Tried some of this a few weeks ago at a banquet. Enjoyed the flavor, but for the price and taste, I'll stay with Knob Creek 100 proof for $34 (in my area) over new HH B&B.
Guys, absolutely love ❤ your review of just about anything that's put in front of you, sooo, here's the deal, I have the chance 2 get a btl. and I enjoy HH too, and get this the dram is reasonably priced @$52.00! because EVERYTHING allocated is always more, umm, is it worth this $$, what say you 🤔 After all, you're from KY and who better 2 know about all- things Bourbon 🤔👍🤷♀️🙋🥃
I'm going to look for a bottle when I travel to NY to take my kids to the falls next month, but the only reason why is because I love to add BIB bourbons and rye to my collection. Going to look for a few other BIBs not available in Ohio while I'm there. Cheers
As of 5/19/21 in CA HH BiB 7yr is going for $49.99‐ $69.99. I pass it up every time for Henry McKenna 10yr 09' and 10's @ $59.99 - $79.99 still on shelves in at least 4 stores around me.
Grabbed a bottle of the 7 year a couple weeks ago, haven't had any yet, and have never tried the original BiB. Been almost terrified to try it because of all the internet hate. This gives me a little hope it won't be terrible, but I still feel ripped off. Hopefully ignorance of the 6 year will be my bliss haha
There are far worse bourbons selling for far more. I wouldn't consider it to be a ripoff. It competes at its price point, which I think was what Heaven Hill was going for. There are only a handful of bottles for forty or less that I'd take over the new HH BiB.
Re: blending older barrels-Can't blend older barrels because of the BIB status. All the barrels gotta be from the same season. I got my fist bottle of the 6 year in Indiana 12 years ago and HH became my favorite distillery. These are both gems. Can't wait to try the 7 year, just can't drink as much due to the price.
My wife, whom I still loved, accidentally opened my Old HH BIB thinking she was opening the 80 proof for mixed drinks. I guess we just drink and enjoy and maybe buy the New one and move along. 🧐🥃
Just based on the flavor profile and mouthfeel they described each with, it seems that the tastes they described before and after they labeled the glencairns for the blind tast test flipped 180 degrees. The cuts in video editing make it impossible to follow which glass is which, but I gotta think they inadvertantly flipped the 6 and 7 yr for the blind test. How did the thicker mouthfeel, heat and darker profile of the 7yr somehow get transferred to the 6yr after the glasses went blind. Would be interested to know if Chad could re-review the full video, follow the glasses, and confirm the 6 was the 6, and the 7 the 7.
I like the new 7 year. Never had a chance to try the 6 year. I REALLY didn't want to like it. Honestly I wanted the 7 year to fail just to kind of give the finger to Heaven Hill for the revamp and price. But in the end I can't say I didn't like it
I thought the HH 6 was discontinued so you can just pay a ton more for the 7. Just like Barton discontinued VOB BIB and released a new much pricier 1792 BIB.
Great video! I've been nursing my last bottle of the old 6, and have been waiting for this comparison from you guys. Very interesting results! Gonna savor what's left and maybe look to try this at a bar sometime if and when it comes to Indiana. Cheers!
This always seems to happen, I see a fellow WhiskeyTuber do a thing... then I look over and go... Oh wait I have a thing that is the same but different... guess I should try it now? *Warning* Heaven Hill Quality House Mild & Mellow Kentucky Blended Whiskey is what I have and it has FAR to many words on the bottle for me to trust it... but it seems I must taste it now.
I picked a bottle of 90 proof green label the last time I was in KY and man is it super peppery and musty. Anyone else get off flavors from the green label Heaven Hill?
It is Often Said that Us Humans "Taste" with our Noses. It is Also Known that the Female Species have a More Sensitive Nose. So, when it comes to KY Straight Bourbon Whiskey "Tasting" > The Females get First Taste.
By now Heaven Hill BiB is gone, and it's Quality House 80 proof bourbon. The label style is the same, but the whiskey isn't any better than Jim Beam white label. Heaven Hill turns out some good juice (I love Elijah Craig, for instance), but they destroyed what used to be their bottled in bond. 😢

It was great to meet you guys at The Bourbon Classic in Louisville. My sons and I had a great time talking with you thanks for your time
brian lemon Great to meet you all too!
I love it!! total blinds are fantastic! I have been totally blown away on some that I have done... So wish I could get my hands on both of those.. Cheers!
Another great video. "Bottom Shelf Ugly" I am going to have to use that
This is definitely top ten of y’all’s videos! Clever idea, fun, and a good time. Everything bourbon should be.
I am still laughing about the big reveal! I am an enthusiast and learn more everyday, especially from you two. You guys are the best.

I never had the pleasure of drinking the 6 year BiB. I really enjoyed the 7 year and is definitely one of my favorites right now.
Yes it's my favorite
Same here. Never had 6. Saw 7 for $35 so grabbed it quick. One of my favorite right off the bat

Can't get these bottles where I live, but I watched anyway. I think Evan Williams is the only bonded liquor I can get here.
I seen it Michigan for sale. The 6 year was always good for me and a mixer was great.
Awesome! Still can’t find either in PA, so I feel your pain, Kentucky.
The pure shock in both of your eyes is worth the watch.
Caught Clifton's review, excited to see your take as well.
So, I literally just bought this HH BIB 7r today in Colorado and am sipping along with this video. Fun way to watch your review, by joining in!. OBTW $49.99 at Dave CO. Thorton CO.
Bought this like a month ago, and have found myself constantly checking to see if you guys have done a review on it yet!
2:30. Blending in older barrels.
Come on Chad and Sara, y'all know better. Bottled in bond requires that all spirits be from one season of distilling.
4 4c 75 74 68 65 72 61 6 Oh yeah, momentarily forgot about that I guess hahaha
Sara with the zing @ 12:39!🤣

Very interesting outcome on the blind test! Goes to show they had something decent in the 6 year already.
Got this is SC! Love it
You two together are liquid gold! It’s gold Jerry!
Michael James Appreciate the Seinfeld reference!
You two are just a lot of fun, great video video!
🎶Just listen to the rhythm of my heart🎶
Wonderful show!! Thanks Chaz.. Thanks SaraH..
Just got the 7 year in tx. Haven’t found the 6. It’s better than ewbib I think. I love ew. But I feel like the molasses is crazy on the 7
Got this gem for $10 dollars today can’t wait to open it great review
Incredible, didn't see that coming!
I was able to get a Evan Williams Bottled & Bond for 19 this week. But I would say pay a little more for 90 proof Weller Special Reserve. Because the note's are almost the same. But Weller's is spiky in all the right ways.
I used to get the HH BIB 6yr for under $10 in NW Indiana. It was such a good value bourbon. But to be honest EWBIB took it place just fine for 12.99
EWBiB…. might be the best bang for the buck out there. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Tried some of this a few weeks ago at a banquet. Enjoyed the flavor, but for the price and taste, I'll stay with Knob Creek 100 proof for $34 (in my area) over new HH B&B.
For the guy that never got a chance to get ahold of 6 year. The 7 year is pretty damn good. Here in SC going for about $70 .
Larry Fairbanks yeah I paid $59 for a bottle today in Northern NY.
@@JohnSandovalesq Just paid $60 in Illinois :/

Glad I still have 5 bottles of the 6 year in my stash
Just came across the McKenna 10 year for $39.99 tonight, and since this 7 year isn’t available in Indiana, the 10 year is mine now.
I'm going to look for a bottle when I travel to NY to take my kids to the falls next month, but the only reason why is because I love to add BIB bourbons and rye to my collection. Going to look for a few other BIBs not available in Ohio while I'm there.

A noble cause.

I love chocolate covered cherries and HATE the coconut. I can't stand the texture. Another solid episode.
May never see that sold in Kentucky again. Ah, the good old days...
Was gifted a bottle (recently) and think it's very good.
Great job.
Keep the videos comin y'all 😁

Yep. Chad definitely messed that up.
Yeah, wasn’t thinking when I said that. It happens from time to time.
12:35 sick burn
I picked this 7yr BnB up on a whim (Georgia). Going to do a side by side comparison with Evan Williams BnB. $50 here in GA 😲
16:12 Definitely need to see the hh6 bib, hh7 bib, vs evan williams bib flight now :) is there a fourth heaven hill bib that i'm forgetting? lol
Erik Guthrie Henry McKenna BiB!
@@ItsBourbonNight Ah, I would forget that one. NH doesn't get that one and I've never come across it in my travels lol
I’m late seeing this video by a couple years. I’ve got a recent bottle of the 7 and an old bottle of the 6. I’ll be doing my side by side soon!
12:35 Chad: "This one's lit AF. This one's just regular lit. I don't know which one's woke." Sara: "It's not you."
Have you done a Heaven Hill B In B flight fight? I love Henry McKenna and would like to see how it stands up against it's stablemates.
Wondering how HH green label stands against these. Great bottle for 14, if you can find it.
In Florida have seen from $50 to $70
My wife, whom I still loved, accidentally opened my Old HH BIB thinking she was opening the 80 proof for mixed drinks. I guess we just drink and enjoy and maybe buy the New one and move along. 🧐🥃
That was awesome!
Great H2H review!

Do you feel that they (Heaven Hill) went for a different flavor profile when blending their 7 year vs their old 6 year?
Matthew Doden Perhaps. Maybe an older, more sophisticated profile that just isn’t landing for most people.
I drank a lot of that in my younger days.
Missouri got it over the weekend for 44.00$
Whiskey cheers
Lol, "hopefully we'll like it". Has Sara ever not liked a heaven hill product???
So close to 50k
I thought the HH 6 was discontinued so you can just pay a ton more for the 7. Just like Barton discontinued VOB BIB and released a new much pricier 1792 BIB.
Next time I compliment a woman, I am going to use the term "...like a top shelf Boubon"... wish me luck! Lmao
But does it got what plants crave?
Great video! I've been nursing my last bottle of the old 6, and have been waiting for this comparison from you guys. Very interesting results! Gonna savor what's left and maybe look to try this at a bar sometime if and when it comes to Indiana. Cheers!
Summary.....7 year nah don't bother. This appears to be a common theme among many YTs. Nice vid.
I know it's not BiB, but I know a place that still has the old HH 80 proof for $12 a bottle. Should I get it?
William Apel The 80 proof isn’t really anything to write home about in our opinion.
I wonder who thought previous the A1 sauce bottle design was a good idea.
This always seems to happen, I see a fellow WhiskeyTuber do a thing... then I look over and go... Sounds like they need to drop the price to about 22 bucks
Yes, I waited and waited.. got the bottle and was excited to try.. I was very disappointed.. :(
But for those of us who don’t live in Kentucky, but have relatives in Illinois, worth it??
I would buy it for $40 to have a bottle, but we hear of massive price hikes from some stores. I wouldn't go over $40 for it right now.
I picked a bottle of 90 proof green label the last time I was in KY and man is it super peppery and musty. Anyone else get off flavors from the green label Heaven Hill?
The true tragedy of losing the 6 year is that it was the world's best mixer at that price.
Not my favorite but still I got a couple bottles and they are still good just not going spend 40 dollars for them again
Paid 46 dollars in west ga
blind is king!
Best vid in a while!
$40 NO. I will stick with Buffalo Trace which I love at a lower price point.
does Liquor barn do their Pappy Raffle every year?
Mark LaChance Yes
Lucky people in the US, in Europe / Germany round about 140 Euros for the 7yo bottle (ca. 130 Dollar)

I'd rather pay 25 for the 6 year. No shame in admitting you effed up. Take money money HH it's yours for the taking
Russell's Reserve 10 year = $33
By now Heaven Hill BiB is gone, and it's Quality House 80 proof bourbon. The label style is the same, but the whiskey isn't any better than Jim Beam white label. Heaven Hill turns out some good juice (I love Elijah Craig, for instance), but they destroyed what used to be their bottled in bond. 😢

I bought just now after you shocked lol
$40 bucks ... never!
Review for something not in our area. Also, Sarah, the eyebrows are a bit much. Sorry, snarky day...
