The Bourbon Junkies recently rated 12 different HH products and rated the HH BiB with the lowest rating. I commented and told them I liked it and the EW BiB which they rated a D. They responded and said it sounded like my palate is more in tune with Jason at Mash and Drum. That is one reason I watch all your videos because we seem to be on the same page, but also because of how informative and professionally done they are. Cheers!
Recently had an allocated bottle drop in Virginia and I was out of town until the evening when everything was picked over. Reluctantly scooped one of the last available bottles - HH BiB. Went home and cracked the bottle with low expectations…. and have really loved every sip I’ve taken so far. Lesson learned: get insight from others, but make sure to try things yourself. You never know what pleasant surprises await!
Was just able to snag a Heaven Hill BiB... Like I do with all my new bottles - cracked it and took a little neck pour. Was really impressed with the nose, and the palate didn't disappoint. Can't wait to revisit it in a few days. Love the channel!
The Battle of the Hills! LOL! Heaven Hill 7 Year is one of my favorites... and that Rock Hill has recently come on my radar. Love your videos. There are a lot of "Bourbon/Whiskey" channels out there, but yours are 1.) Entertaining 2.) Informative, and 3.) Focused on the juice, where as other channels that I've checked out seem to be a little too focused on themselves.
Rock Hill Farms was so sweet and delicious. I have never had anything like it before. Was just amazing. Too bad I probably will never have it again. I live in an abc state and never had such a sweet pour.
You just nailed why I'm not a big Buffalo Trace guy, they are all overly sweet to me with many having that medicinal cherry note that I don't enjoy. Funny enough the only ones from BT I really care for are the BTACs and the new Benchmarks. On the other hand, I rarely meet a Heaven Hill product that I don't really love - and I keep several bottles of the HH7 on hand because when I pop one, it tends to be my go to.
Really do like the "did you know" tidbits of information. It is interesting to this Bourbon nerd. Thanks for the review. The HH bottled in bond is available in my are for $50....not too bad. Thanks for the review
Can’t think of a better head-to-head comparison, terrific stuff thank you Jason. My idea of a head-to-head: battle of the bottom shelf high proofers: OGD 114 vs. Benchmark Full Proof.
HH BiB is my go-to. As soon as you started describing, I knew 100% which was HH. So good and IMO, underrated. It's my most gifted and recommended bottle to friends, especially those that haven't tried it. So far, all my friends have been impressed! CHEERS!
I just received a bottle of Rock Hill Farms as a gift from someone that has connections when it comes to getting allocated bourbons (at MSRP). I already have a bottle that I have used in several blind comparisons. I got it several years ago for about $50.00. I usually do 6 bourbons in my blind comparisons and I believe the RHF has come in as high as 3rd. Certainly a decent bourbon and it looks good on my shelf but not worth a penny over MSRP. WT 101 has placed higher in the blinds and that can be had any day for about $25.00
Interesting matchup. I set up a blind tasting for a couple of my friends last weekend: HH BiB vs EH Taylor Small Batch BiB. They both narrowly preferred the HH BiB.
Between this, Evan Williams BiB (imo the most insane value of any available low-cost bourbon), the latest Larceny BPs, Henry McKenna 10 Year, and others, I’ve really become a big fan of Heaven Hill. Here’s hoping that some day I’ll find or at least get to try their holy grail of bourbons (ie Parker’s Heritage).
Love your channel. The one observation, after years of trying various single barrel bourbons , is one release will be completely different from the next. I, and I know most bourbon fans, have had bottles which were spectacular in all aspects; then awful at a later release. My first bottle of Wellers 12, many years ago, made fireworks go off on my palate. My last bottle, I used as a mixer with Coke, lol.
Love HH. It won in an at home blind over EHT and 4Roses SB. I was fortunate enough to get a bottle of RHF for $60 and im going to wait until May 2024 to crack it in celebration of my 1st born.
That is not the outcome I would have predicted - not because I think Rock Hill Farms is worth the hype, but because I have never thought of HH7 BiB as highly as most. Interesting video for sure.
As soon as you said Hawaiian punch I knew it was Rockville. It always reminds me of the fruit cocktail juice with added maraschino cherries. It is very unique and one of the only bourbons I have with that variety of cherry flavor instead of the medicinal, candy or floral cherry that is so common in American whiskey and bourbons.
I just found Old Potrero 6y Malted Rye today. How about that vs New Riff Malted Rye? That Old Potrero is freakin good good good!!! Thanks to whoever posted it in your comments recently. I'm impressed with it. Perfect for the scotch fan as well as rye fans 🥃🤘
I tried a sample of the HH when it was more difficult to find locally and found it disappointingly young-tasting and one-dimensional. RHF was fun and fruity, by comparison. Some other Double Bass ideas: Coopers Craft 100 vs Chattanooga Founders Michter's Small Batch vs Buffalo Trace Ezra Brooks 99 vs Knob Creek Small Batch Wilderness Trail Rye vs Kentucky Owl Rye
I had a bottel of the Heavin Hill BIB in my hands this afternoon Price was a little high though I ended up buying a Four Roses SB , Old Forrester 1910 and a Larceny Barrel proof maybe next time I'll try the Heaven Hill BIB since i'm such a Elijia Craig and Larceny guy.
I loved the 6yr Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond. For the price it was great deal. I haven’t seen a 7yr where I live after two years. Going to Texas in a week. I have seen them on the Total Wine site for $39. Might grab one to see what it’s like. Thinking of doing a blind with JW Dant and JTS Brown to see if it is worth it .
RHF has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I was really bummed to see the price skyrocket. I remember being able to pick up a bottle easily for 65, now I can't find it for under 400
Have the HH, 1st dram was rough, waiting for it to open up…. Since growing up on horse farm, would luv to get the rock hill, more for the bottle 😂never seen in the wild
Good one Heaven b&b is solidly good 👍 Every liquor store that has btac wants $700 or more here. Blantons is the minimum $180 to $250. I keep hearing the same story: Supposedly, they have to buy a 100 cases of fireball to get some buffalo trace products, then are told by the distributor to jack it to the 2nd secondary market price It pisses me off that buffalo trace acts like this doesn’t happen and put a stop to it. I’m happy for some heaven hill or Russell’s over this craziness of buffalo trace
The second you said peanut butter I knew A was HH! I wasn’t a huge fan of it, but it’s definitely crushable at $45. Glad to know I don’t have to chase RHF
Never had RHF but I find BT all to be one dimensional (sweet) and thin. I say it's a perfect beginners brand and that usually pisses "seasoned" drinkers off. 🥃🤘
Could you leave the comments at the bottom up longer so I will have time to read them. On a mobile phone it's kind of small print and not so easy to glance at to read. Thanks.

I agree with you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with HH BiB or the EW BiB. That EW BiB is one of the best values out there.
They just re-evaluated it this week.....have a much more favorable view. Not sure why....it hasn't changed!!

Rock Hill Farms is great single barrel 👌

Having had a bottle of both of these recently, I greatly prefer RHF. Wouldn’t pay more than retail for it though.

Ok I know I'm wt behind on posting on this. But I just made an "Old Fashon" with this tonight. Wow! Talk about hitting the spot!

Used to be able to get RHF for $50. Those days are long gone! HH BiB is superb. Not totally surprised at your result. Nice video!

Happy to hear HH came out on top. It has been on my list.
Really like the Double Bass tastings.

Another great video. RHF is my all time favorite, hands down. I like the HH BiB too but I get super peanuts on the palate.

Nice, HH BiB doesn't get enough attn. Love when over-hyped/priced releases get slayed by accessible, affordable stuff. Keepum coming, J!
As soon as you said Hawaiian punch I knew it was Rockville. It always reminds me of the fruit cocktail juice with added maraschino cherries. I got excited when I saw the thumbnail. Good choices!!
Love this matchup. My palete would prefer the HH PROFILE over the BT but that oak profile of the RH is one of my favs for sure

I’m now wondering if I really messed up not picking up a HH 7 for 55 on a business trip this past weekend.
Bakers vs beam single barrel
Great vid Jason. hh7 is my jam and so crushable. Almost drink 90 proof.

Picked on up last week at Total Wine in Houston for $39. Last one they had at that time.
I love this review and glad to see someone else’s taste buds and nose picked Heaven Hill over a BT offering.
RHF has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I was really bummed to see the price skyrocket. I remember being able to pick up a bottle easily for 65, now I can't find it for under 400

Here's hoping you get a Total Wine near you. Msrp state minimum all day long. Blantons is $65 there when you find it.
The HHBiB is the best value in bourbon. Hands down. Best $50 bottle.
Great show,I love RHF but the HH 7 is pretty good I will have to try this one. But I would have gone with Rock Heaven Farms
Heaven Hill 7 yr is a great pour🥃😊 Great head to head Double Bass, Jason🥃
The second you said peanut butter I knew A was HH! I wasn’t a huge fan of it, but it’s definitely crushable at $45. Glad to know I don’t have to chase RHF
I know a lot of people dislike the HH BIB but I loved it. Definitely an easy sipping crushable bottle! Great review, as always!
Love the review. Also nice shirt!! 😂
My local Sam's Club has HHBiB for $32. So much good stuff out there which is priced well yet people chase the hype!
Never had Rock hill farms, but I’ve had the th Heaven Hill bib. Was just a average bourbon to me.
For me the HH BiB went super nutty after a bit. Finished one bottle don’t think I’ll buy another.
It is pretty nutty. That pecan flavor was no joke.
finally got one for a deuce. RHF is the nectar of the gods
One is $50 and the other if you can find it is $400
Go with a top dog double bass- GTS vs King of Kentucky! Great video man!
The HH BiB isn't easy for me to get at all and the RHF is totally unobtainium so I've got to move onto another 7 year Bourbon.
did they have a bottled in bond before? I thought it was 90 proof,
Nice review
Never had RHF but I find BT all to be one dimensional (sweet) and thin. I say it's a perfect beginners brand and that usually pisses "seasoned" drinkers off. 🥃🤘
Saving me money just like ADHD Whiskey lol! Thanks Jason.
Won a bottle of Rock Hill Farms in the Ohio bottle lottery. Uncorked it last night. Loved it. I think it blows Heaven Hill out of the water.
Could you leave the comments at the bottom up longer so I will have time to read them. On a mobile phone it's kind of small print and not so easy to glance at to read. Thanks.
Rebel 10 vs weller vs old fitz
I’d love to see a New Riff Malted Rye vs Smoke Wagon Malted Rye
i always drink HH BIB with Dickel BIB.
I'd take RHF all day long. To each their own.
I've never been a fan of the single barrel I have. Was an interesting blind regardless. I'm sure there are single barrels of the RHF that are great
I like both but Rock Hill Farms has more going on, the problem us finding it!! Heaven Hill is great for a B.I.B.
heaven hill really improves with so open time and some hear space.
A bottle of Rockville Farm whiskey is over $500 in my area "/
I was at a store last weekend that had Rockhill for $500. I walked out without dropping a dime.
No more double bass intro? All good!
I had to use my old computer. Will be back on the next one.
You probably hurt some feelings here with this one! Lol with everyone thinking buff trace is the greatest shit on earth. 🥃
lol I have a shirt from them
Michters toasted vs Elijah Craig toasted
Heaven Hill.gas a sour note for me not a huge fan
I Just finished HH. I think it's overrated
🍻
