So to recap then.....
Stage1 no additional traction loss, did you get a chance to try it in damp/wet conditions?
Stage2 traction ok but would look to get an LSD to help now?
The MSS springs and underbody brace I have had fitted have def improved traction on my M140i, even swapping my MPSS to the Goodyears have helped.
But I was still considering getting a LSD, (Wavetrac for me), before a Stage1 remap, hmm decisions to make.

It’ll be a Quaife for me I think...wavetrac is a quaife with a little feature added but I can’t justify paying the extra for just one feature that will probably only happen once in my ownership 😆
Yeah I know what you mean the Wavetrac is that bit more expensive. And as you say, (I think you are referring to wheel off the ground scenario), the likelihood of that happening is very slim.
But I think the extra Wavetrac bit also helps slightly more with wheel slippage, (might be useful in the poor weather months of the year), and also helps very slightly when moving from decelerating to back on the gas again, (reacts quicker I think).
Sounds so much better, do you get much drone in cabin from the exhaust when on the motorway? Is the gearbox map available for 2016 M135i? Love your videos mate 👍

Gearbox map is available for all zf8 gearboxes mate regardless of engine or tuner 🙏🏽
@@TimWilliamsHD thats cool mate 👍 mine is stage 1 with standard exhaust, I get some drone on motorway when revs hover around 2200 rpm. Going to look into the gearbox map 👍

I'm still considering downpipe & sports cat, I heard 480-490 is about the max on stock turbo, if you upgrade the fuel pump.
Not sure I want to risk reliability though, I have heard of a few with bottom end issues (mainly ones that have been tracked and oil starvation while cornering). I do worry about the ZF8 and if it can handle the extra power without reducing it's lifespan considerably.
Mine seems nippy enough at 411bhp/576nm, bet yours is an animal !
Exactly right! Stage 1 is more than enough tbh I think I’m just being greedy and it still doesn’t scare me 😆 turbo upgrade could be on the cards tbh makes sense to part ex turbo whilst it’s still working 😂

I work in the motor trade, I understand the science behind dynamometers, and know how easily stupid people like you are fooled into believing you have a lot more power than is actually possible from a simple map of a B58 engine.

Suffice to say, it is a dedicated tuning company, and BMW / Porsche specialist, who look after many competition vehicles.

In fact, BHP cannot be measured, it can only be calculated, you really don't know anything do you.
The only accurate way to measure, is to have a standalone engine, on an engine dyno, and measure the torque to calculate the BHP.

Hey Tim whats the driveability like with xhp is it still smooth in comfort/eco mode, as I don't want to ruin the day to day capability of the car. Great video by the way.

Performance isn’t the issue with the M140i’s, it’s the soft chassis and lack of lsd where it loses out... great for big power, but just hasn’t got the handling to back it up.

I was told stage one is plenty on gearbox, with both stage 2 and 3 engine map
gearbox is bullet proof tbh good for 1000nm

I have a question, stage 2 what concern The consumption, is that a lot more than just standard? Now i do 260-300km with a full tank, if stage 2 will be done, does it consume horribly a lot more or just a ml extra?
I’d say I got 350 miles out of a full tank before and now it’s around 280miles.
At stage 1 it was around 340-360miles
The joy of bm3 is that you can switch maps within 30 seconds if you are going on a long journey

Out of interest, can the ZF box be programmed to miss out the odd no, gears on way up the box (not so concerned about downward - may need to keep all to allow predictive rev matching - I am not a fan of latest craze of just keep adding gears to be one up on the competition /mates in the pub.... with well over 400 lb ft of torque over such a huge torque band, the last things it needs is a close ratio gearbox! - I (age probably) hate the DSG motorsport derived sprint gears with awful DSG 'belch' - The ZF being auto based fortunately allows a little slip which I prefer...bit 8 gears?! Really? - I prefer to luxuriate in the transfer of off to on boost and feel the revs rise - not zap crack zap crack zap crack..... Would like to experiment with: pull off in second with a decent longer pull - not scrabble TC scrabble TC Second gr... then 4th, 6th, 8th - if anthing I would slow down the gearchanges too - I appreciate I am against the trend and indeed commonsense if performance matters over character...I am sure I would prefer it - hate an indecisive box that shuffles gears when you are easing on and off the throttle looking for a traffic gap to overtake - I dont want it to feel like i am in an autotest all the time - 2 4 6 8 ..thats what I appreciate :)
Surely the gap in ratios will make acceleration feel strange? You’ll feel acceleration slow down when you change up.
What you’re asking for is custom ratio’s. Easily done in some cars as there is a market for them (Honda Type R boxes for example)

They should of just made these cars a M1. Just added the m diff as standard and called it a M1 as these things are quicker then a stock m3 and m4 lol
Even stock they can keep up. We did a test run with a m3 and a m140i both stock and there was nothing in it
